Hi! Thanks for visiting the Channel!
In this video, i'm making my second FlyHawk model, this time I chose a deluxe version - which means there are metal gun barrels, many more PE parts and other addon parts included in the kit.
As the FlyHawk models are so beautifully detailed already, there is no huge need for some of the included PE parts, but some others enhance the look of the model greatly.
Time stamps:
Box review: 0:00-58
Assembly: 0:59-9:23
Painting: 9:24-11:54
Weathering: 11:55-13:50
Completed Model: 13:51-14:41

My dad served on the Legion from the time it entered service until it was lost at Malta. He was a stoker and is one of the crew on the ship’s bow in photos while alongside HMS Ark Royal after she was torpedoed.

Great build ! Wish Flyhawk would make an HMS Cossack with their attention to detail it would blow the Airfix rendition out of the water!

Great video, glad you enjoyed the Flyhawk kit. I'm a huge fan of their models, as you say a lot of the detail is so good that you don't have to use the photo-etch replacement parts if you don't want to. If you just do railings, ladders, cranes and radars in PE and stick with plastic for the rest you'll still get great results. Anyway, you've done a good job on HMS Legion. As to the paint scheme, well I think the captain would be ordering his crew to scrub all the grime off the superstructure and deck fittings, but whether or not it's strictly historically accurate, it's got character and definitely doesn't look toy like.

Thank you very much! Maybe they were caught in a storm, where it rained oily fluid, that's why it is so grimy :D Glad you still like the outcome! the Flyhawk models are indeed highly enjoyable - just found out that they also made a m1 abrams tank, might be interesting to take a look at that!

I have just completed the HMS Lance. I built it very much like yourself, except I painted as I went - in modules. I would advise this. It turned out stunning and apart from rusting the chain, a pin wash and matt overcoat, I didn't weather it. It's my best build. I agree that leaving out some PE parts is sensible. I also agree about the instructions - they need studying through well in advance. I too put the depth charge racks on before realising there were PE racks. I changed them after. Wish I'd stuck with plastic davits. FLYHAWK are the dog's watsits. Wish I could send you pics.

Just joined your channel as I make ships and love to see other modellers way of making things. I have this kit and it is a beauty, as well as the other 8 Flyhawk kits that I have. I like the way that you did this, not my choice of doing it, but each to their own and yours turned out just fine. The paint job looks great, as it is hard to get the right "feel" in such a small naval subject. Maybe a little overdone on the weathering of the superstructure but you know that. Glad that you shared it anyway and if we each made everything perfect first time then we would never learn and grow. Great job.

Hi, much thanks! It was the 2nd Flyhawk model and first Deluxe version, and ive only done 1 1/700 ship with PE parts, so it was kind of an experiment, but definitely enjoyed it! I'm most interested in ships as well. Thanks for joining the channel!

I really enjoyed the build and take my hat off to you given the scale and the many miniscule parts (both plastic and PE) which you deftly managed, even with a not-so-good pair of tweezers. Not sure about the paint job.......unless you are representing a ship that's been through many battles without rest or repair. Many a weary sailor on that ship! Will look forward to seeing that notification and what next you have in store for us.

Thanks so much! I am glad you like the model, at least the build part. I think i will adapt your theory, lets just say the ship was indeed restlessly fighting and sailing for a longer period of time, then i can finally accept the paint and weathering on it :) Next will be something VERY curious! At least what i'm planning to do next, maybe the video will be uploaded later

Best kits on the market, imho! I’ve got Kelly on the blocks and given the smallness of it, it’s difficult to know how and where to start the paint job 😂😂😂 Given the way that you cracked on with it, I think that you didn’t do too badly....lessons learned for the next time and do do another, coz this one wasn’t a total disaster, was it? 👏🏼👏🏼

Yet another fantastic build, it's always a pleasure watching your videos, so much so that i've bought the Bismark, with all the gubbins, and we'll see how i get on with it, though i doubt i have as steady a hand or the patience.

I'm sure your Bismarck will be great! Thanks very much for the compliments, and best of luck for your project! Bismarck is probably a good choice to get into ships because of the straight forward camouflage pattern

Good looking model, I think I'm throwing everything i have in the trash. Do you ever knock off your p e parts during a build im kinda like a bull in a China shop. You kinda need to do a blooper segment
@funinscale2892

Yes, all the time! few PE parts are safe from my handling :-) What annoys me the most is when masking a camouflage and after removal of the tape, half of the PE parts stick to the tape.

I know, this kit was fun to build until painting, it is really not very good. The superstructure colour is too bright and the weathering is therefore too pronounced on the white surface. I should not have overpainted it with bright light grey
