Atomic energy commission that those two little diesel switchers 0-4-0 as you called them are rare collectible and now that Lionel is coming back into the HO line hang onto those babies because they’re going to be worth some cash ! from what I was listening as you were running it Rock Island sounds like it may need to be pulled apart you may need to replace the brushes as well and gear her up and lube her up and grease her up as much as possible to smooth them out ! That red and cream car you’re holding right now is actually a bus system not a rail system it has a powered unit in a dummy unit and they run in tandems of two ! Also The green 0-6-0 and that red and cream Loco is known in Britain and Europe as : HO/OO 🌊🐺

This is the second time I reviewed the video and now that I’ve had a chance to look at the bottom of both locomotives;”0-4-0”, I think the chassis are (“turned around”), the “chassis” on the “RockIsland” belongs on the “atomic energy commission locomotive” and the chassis in the Atomic Energy Commission belongs in the rock island ! I remember because the atomic energy commission came out in both “HO” & “O” gauge and both sets had the same cars and same locomotives except for the scales/gauge ! It was a time when they were teaching children in school to hide underneath the desk in case of an atomic explosion ! Lionel did their best to try and keep the populace calm by putting out these models/toys to show that our US military had better Equipment then the enemy !!! It’s in one of my Lionell books and towards the end of that particular chapter it said with the idea worked or not who truly knew ?????🌊🐺

But Lionel having three rails, did nothing to hide the third rail, unlike what Märklín did in HO ! Is this the type of system you’re referring to ??? 🌊🐺

Flagler took it from New York all the way to Key West to place them on ships that travel 90 miles to Havana Cuba where I’m from ! And like you I have done a lot of research on the FEC and Henry M. Flagler ! But I do like to dabble in European trains as well ! 🌊🐺
That's a Wrenn SECR (South Eastern & Chatham Railway) R class tank loco. I think it's in a very off-color British Rail green, though if you'd be interested, the plastic IS close to the very snazzy SECR green!
Nerf cat is a star! BTW, try briefly connecting wires from the AC accessories terminal on a power supply to the Trix wheels to see if any lights come on interior or exterior. If so, it could always be parked on a stand-alone terminal track on your layout with the AC connections - might look cool.
The European passenger car is a control cab for another identical vehicle which has the motor. The reason why it is not running is that you need special track for it to work. Trix Express uses a common ground on the center, and allows you to control up to 2 independent vehicles on the same track with the power on either side. You could add a third circuit with catenary. Another reason is that the flanges are way larger than anything recently produced in the USA or Canada. The lights are switched on the motorized element of the pair, and are connected with a plug on the carriage.
The Trix Express Diesel railcar was made in AC until 1952 and then in DC for one year only in 1953. They were available as the Diesel Flyer for British Trix known as Trix Twin Railway until 1956. The other commenter who said that collectors will pay into the $300 or so is not far off. Trix worked on a system of 3 rail which created two independent circuit which allowed 2 locomotives on the same track to be controlled separately. And, that from 1935 on. Also note the coarse wheels. They are not meant to run on code 100 track and they won’t go through the frogs on current track. It was patterned on a rail Diesel car of the German State Railway, the Reichsbahn, of the 1930s so the colour scheme is correct. Your example is definitely too good to scrap or use as a wreck. Try to sell it. Look up the TTR collectors association. It has members around the world including in Ontario. Cheers
portuga024 From 1935 until 1952 Trix Express worked on 14V AC. Don’t believe me look at the Trix literature of the period such as their catalogs or the Handbook Trix 1:90. Besides my first two Trix engines had AC motors so I know this first hand.
From what I read, Trix-Twin used the two running rails as separate pickups, with the centre rail as a common return, allowing two trains to operate independently.

Now I have a question to ask you bud about the Lionel hustler switcher, in somewhere around 2007 & 2008 my grandpa gave me a Lionel ho Union Pacific hustler switcher along with some other ho things it started to smoke all around. Could it be the commonator or the wheels because the wheel seems like it hasn’t been cleaned then and could this be repairable?
Trix 20/58 railcar, made 1937-1950, usually expensive model here in Europe. And yes, there should be a locomotive (both cars looks the same, only locomotive have motor inside).
As tinplate and metal construction, both cars are heavy. In fact, motor is too big to fit inside, there is a hole on the side of locomotive. Both cars picks electricity from rails and car is connected to locomotive by ugly cable, this dummy car is heavy enough to look like engine with motor.
Exact german name is "TRIX EXPRESS H0 2-teiliger Triebwagen 20/58 Wechselstrom" and price can be up to 200-300 Euro (up to 350 USD) for both cars in perfect order.
I got a P2K SD7 in HO scale for 35$ This is the 3rd Proto 2000 engine I’ve got. The other 2 had a crap ton of problems and I ended up scrapping them. The SD7 runs flawlessly, 3rd times the charm.

SMT - You should try connecting the AC from a power pack with alligator clip jumper wires to the center rail contact & the wheels on each side of the Germain train.
The green bodied 0-6-0T at the start is a Hornby Dublo R1 from the period about 1958, when Hornby Dublo started making two rail models to 1964 when Hornby Dublo production stopped. The Hornby Dublo locos were more expensive and are regarded as superior to Tri-ang and with careful maintenance can run smoothly and also deal better with modern point clearances. However it did not stop Hornby Dublo going broke in 1964 and being taken over by Tri-ang and using the name. All the surviving Hornby Dublo tooling was sent to Wrenn. Wrenn made improved versions of some of the old Hornby Dublo range from about 1968 to about 1992. So longer than Hornby Dublo made them. A slight chance your loco is a Wrenn version if marked as such. Current Hornby only uses the Hornby name from Hornby Dublo to attract brand snobs. Tri-ang Hornby and current Hornby have no parts or designs in common with Hornby Dublo but many still with Tri-ang after more than 60 years. You might see Hornby Dublo lettering on the bottom part of the R1 body. If you want more RU-vid links explaining the Hornby Dublo and Tri-ang upheavals I could send more or answer more questions. You may find that your green British loco will not navigate thru any non-British turnouts(switches)especially Atlas brand., From my own personal experience within the last 2 weeks, with British and other European makers, the wheel gauge, back to back on the flanges, is significantly smaller than needed for clearance in the frogs. While I have re-gauged the wheels on rolling stock, locos might be impossible. especially steam locos with side rods, which would require proper quartering after re-gauging. My solution? Peco brand turnouts, which, by the way, are advertised as OO/HO gauge.
