Very sorry for the sound quality. Left the waterproof housing on the GoPro. Having said that I am very pleased with the quality of the image in low light on GoPro Hero 4 black that I was using. The next video will be with skeleton back, so the sound will be OK and I'll show the radio operation and then do another video of it running in a lake.

Great channel you got here, I have a Southampton tug that i got yesterday, was working fine when i tested it yesterday until today when i connected a lipo up the wrong way by mistake to it as never came with the standard battery, Think i've burnt out the board in the tower as all i got now is smoke motor running and tower light on when battery connected the wrong way, battery connected up right way the tug is dead/nothing workng.

Sorry to hear that. Putting power wrong way on ESCs (motor controllers) will instantly fry them on any model. Either get replacement components from the manufacturer or convert I would say. I have none of the original electronics in mine. I even replaced the top to make it a bigger scale - can see in one of my more recent videos (with lots of models).

@@RCModders I'll convert it, Not sure how to get the led's to work but got to be a way, Could run them off a Tamiya light unit, They will be on all the time but better than nothing, Thanks for replying.

I just bought the richardson. After removing the screws I cannot separate the deck and the hull. It seems stuck. How did you do ?

Hi. It was a long time ago that I did this on my boat. There were some hidden screws under bollards. Remove bollards first. I hope this helps.

I wish you would re record the audio. It would make it far better to understand as every time you move something the noise cancels your voice out.

Hello there, I recently purchased a Hobby Engine Richardson Tug Boat. I see from your videos your pretty knowledgable on these vessels. Can you recommend what smoke oil product I should use for the smoke stacks? I purchased some smoke oil at hobby shop for trains figuring it would work, but I can not get this thing to smoke. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

+Mark Mazzy not sure about that. Prob best to get whatever they recommend. Some of the toro or Heng Long type rc battle tank units might fit and be more effective. The oil for these might be better.

Hi there I'm baffled on the battery I have a 4000 battery I want to pop in however once the deck is on don't you need to modify the hatch because there's no ways a battery that size can be easily taken out. The rim blocks it from dropping in I have tried all possible angles only thing I can come up with is to possibly cut away a portion of the rim where the sponge seal sits with a dremel.

I’ll go up into the lift and have a look tomorrow. I may have just put an old rc car 6 cell NiMh battery in before I screwed the deck down and left it in there - as it is ok to charge in situ. I’ll check.

Hi I just checked. The battery in there is a 3300 and it will not come out of the hatch - in fact it is strapped down with Velcro to stop it moving about and changing the balance of the boat as I have quite a bit of lead ballast in there. I am using Deans connectors, so charging with battery in the boat is no problem. Hope this helps.

Good Afternoon thank you so much for replying I've decided to rewire and pop battery into rear area makes for easier battery changes concerned about charging inside the hull as the 4000 can get pretty hot. I have removed the 13 deck screws but can't seem to separate the deck from the hull I need to crawl first hee hee is it glued down as well ??

Need to remove the bollards (2 at the side and one on front if I remember correctly - it was the one on the bow that caught me out as it was hidden so well). Need to be patient, but it does all come apart and go back together easily in the end. With the speed controllers I used I had no heat problems. I cannot remember everything I did with this, but if I am concerned with motor voltage I generally just limit the end points on the throttle channel. Using a 5 or 6 cell pack achieves the same thing.

Using 2 speed controllers lets you literally turn on the spot for those scale manoeuvres in limited space.

How did you get it apart? Tried undoing all the screws but still can't get the hull off.

+Stephen De Gabrielle can't remember if any of the screws were hidden under fittings (they are sometimes on toys) remove all the bollards - including the one at the front of the boat and have a look. You may be able to see on my video where all the holes are. I think that I googled it at the time to find them. This might help : goo.gl/images/7ikZbt.

Is theSound Standard or not
@RCModders

+Cosa Nostra yes the sound (if you mean the horn) is standard - as I left the electronics in the cabin standard and just use two transmitters at the same time!
