Great video sir ! One question please: how do I set up aileron leads when I have two ailerons servos in my plane? I've watch your video 3 times before asking that question. Thanks.
I purchased the A3 Pro a couple yrs ago.. I was very excited to get it installed and go fly. I used your video to set it up in my 1500mm Warbird. Setup was easy to follow along with your directions.. Sadly, as I finished up with the last setup of my throw angles, the led on the A3 Pro went out and would no longer power up.
My 83-year old brain is starting to block "simple setup", etc., instructions on videos. After watching this, I probably won't buy a stabilizer, but the idea of showing up at the field and being able to fly valued scale models with confidence, in unexpected wind conditions, is appealing.
Great explained walktrough. One thing, is there any benefit of trimming the model (servo trimming and travel limiting) in the a3 pro function menu rather than in the transmitter?
Placement in the fuselage of the blue gyro needs to be near the CG as mentioned, but it may face in either direction. The servo pins can be facing the front or rear of the aircraft, flat or vertical mount, as indicated in the instructions.
I was having a terrible time until I asked my wife for help. For some reason I couldn't see a difference between the RED and the YELLOW led ! It also took me a while to figure out that Flight Mode 3 on my Spektrum transmitter corresponds to POSITION 1 on the Gyro !
Hi James, My control surfaces twitch in the trainer mode and aren’t smooth. I turned the gains down to see if that helped but it just lowered the travel. Great video on set up, really helped having your info. Thanks Ant
The gains shouldn't affect the travel of the servo, they affect how much the gyro corrects the servos, but once you move the sticks, your travel should be whatever rate you have set int he transmitter. I am not quite sure what you mean by twitch in trainer mode. Hard to diagnose through RU-vid. Your best bet is to contact our Customer service by phone, live chat or email during business hours and they can help get you sorted for sure. Thanks for watching

Motion RC Quick phone call solved it. Anyone with this issue should go into “servo frequency” (setup menu six) and set that higher. I went all the way to 333hz and the surfaces are moving smoothly now.
Good video. There is an easier way to check the gyro direction, instead of turning up the gains, just select Trainer Mode or Auto Level. When you tilt the plane, the gyro will keep holding the correction till it's level again, so you don't have to repeatedly rock the plane around and try spot the movement of the control surfaces.
@@MotionRC You don't like a little disco? ;-) Btw, in Trainer Mode, is it possible to increase the movement of the control surfaces? I have that mode set for hand launch, and even though the max bank angles are set to 60 degrees, the control surfaces never move far enough to even reach those angles. So the plane climbs slowly and makes super wide turns. Switch to Normal Mode and the control surfaces can again move as far as the travel is set in the radio. Edit: found it. I had to adjust servo travel on radio. I tried that, but thought I was adjusting elevator input weight, but instead was working on aileron travel. So when I didn't see any change, I called it a day. Now I have same control surface throws in Normal and Trainer mode.
@@rc-fannl7364 You don't make those sort of mistakes too do you Solo?!! 😜😁 Had to rebuild the nose of my Ranger G2 after the first adventure with this 1! Went back to a Kopilot but must give this another go in the Mini AR Wing - that'll bounce better during the R&D phase! 😂
@@theoztreecrasher2647 Hey, nice to see you again! I made plenty of mistakes, like somehow managing to get a plane rolled to inverted when hand lauching it. Or crashing my Mini Mustiag into the side or a parked trailer, when landing, and misjudging the distance. But so far I had no issues with this flight controller, it's been behaving really well since I installed it. I might have to reduce the gains a little, as there is a bit of oscillation, mostly on roll, at full speed. But lately I rarely get to fly the plane it's installed into, so that's still on the to do list.
at 14:45 you say the elevator and rudder are wrong, when theyre correct. and you say the aileron is correct (which it is) i dont know if this is an editing mistake or if im wrong cause this could be very dangerous info for new flyers if incorrect
I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask a question but here I go.. I purchased a JAS 39 plus the TV and completed adding it on, I have completed the mixing etc of the canards and now I need to complete the mixing of the VT, problem is I have a DX 9 with a 9 channel receiver and I have also connected a Hobby Eagle A3 Pro gyro, so I now require a 10 channel receiver, or do you have any other suggestions. I have a feeling I may have walked into a simple fact I havnt thought of. Thanks for your assistance.
When using a single wire PPM or SBUS serial receiver like Walkera RX-SBUS or FlySky FS-A8S or Crossfire, where do we connect the ESC signal wire for throttle channel.
I have an Arrorws Marlin Jet - it has 1 servo for rudder and 1 servo for nose wheel steering and those 2 servo leads are joined and go into 1 port on the receiver. My A3 Pro attempted setup failed - the rudder will not move. The elevator and ailerons move okay. So the A3 Pro will not work with the rudder and nose wheel servos joined ? Or is there a solution ?
Hi great vids. Can u help me? Need to know for hover calibration: i have my flat inverted position. 1 when i calibrate de hover, should enter programing mode A- in hover mode or B- normal mode on gyro? DUE my onces i activate hover mode nose points down. Thanks
Not sure if l am missing something here, but got my first pro 3 today, and set it up in my trainer. Connected up as in the video, but no flying surfaces are moving!. Red light slowly flashing on the pro 3, which according to the manual means it has lost tx signal. ls there another setting l should be changing or using between programming and using? Thanks for a brilliant video.
Hey John, hard to disagnose these things on a youtube video. Your best bet is to call our customer service department and talk to one of our guys. They know this stuff in and out and can get you sorted much fast than a back and forth on RU-vid
@@MotionRC I have the exact same issue with mine - I only get slow flashing red lights. I have an A3L gyro in another plane and it works perfectly, so I know to program them. I contacted customer service and they said to update the firmware, but the A3L doesn't have anywhere to plug in a cable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
I just installed one on my AT6 ruder only when i move the plain it moves but it's only a small amount? Gain is all the way up and it"s in normal mode is there a setting i'm missing ?
Will this work 100% properly on a flysky i6a receiver ??? Or does it have to be a spektrum or something that supports dsmx or dsm2 ? As I've set 2 of these up as instructed from motion rc and utube and the manual n it won't save my settings to switch 5 on my flysky i6 so I bought a DX8e and hoping this sorts it perhaps ...any thoughts on my delema I've with these 2 a3pro??
There are two versions of firmware for the A3 Pro. There is no mark on the case to indicate which version is installed. Programming seems different, but what?
the one thing i dont get is how i am going to wire this up, i have my aileron servo's wired to aileron and one to aux for differential. how is this going to power those 2 servo's?
Great video first of all but I have a question. First of all I have the A3-Pro installed on the the S.M. Ar wing full size. Had a couple flights today and I am getting a crazy ride especially under high throttle. It seems to me that the elevons are rapidly fluttering up and down causing this wawawawawawawawaw bumpy flight. I was it trainer mode when this was happening. Do you know what I need to do to stop this? Thanks-Joe
I have a Leader 480 set up for flaperons. When I try the A3 Pro then only 1 aileron will move under gyro control. The other aileron does not move. So I can't use A3 Pro and flaperons together ? Or is there a solution ?
Sorry, but yes the capacitor should be inserted into any open port on either the gyro or your receiver, which helps prevent against a voltage loss that would otherwise turn off the gyro or RX if you hit a certain load.
Normal Mode is the basic core of the Gyro. When flying in this mode you get the benefits of the Gyro stabilizing the plane regardless of orientation. It shines immensely on windier days as the gyro micro corrects the servos without you noticing but will make the plane look smoother in the air and get "knocked around" less. Auto-Level is a mode where once you release the sticks, the plane will automatically level itself. Good for beginners as they can practice maneuvers, but if they mess up, they can release the sticks and know there plane is back to flying straight.
would down? Hey Major! It's james. If you mean slow down, you can play youtube videos at slower speeds or start and stop them when you need. Can I help you with something?
I tried fitting the Futaba servo connectors into the gyro Hobby eagle A3PRO V2 and they don’t fit due to a flange that have those connectors. Is there any adapter cable that I can use so they can connect to the out 1 out 2 and out 3 of the gyro. Please advise. Thanks
I use a spektrum nx8 &620rx but the a3pro will not go solid red & the gain &mode do not work ,my other a3v2 work fine can someone help a very old person resolve this please!!!
What it rudder and elevator are changed? When move plane left/right the elevator moves and when move up/down the rudder moves?? How do u switch them back? Please
hey I have a radiolink at9s pro transmitter with a r9ds receiver. I bought a gyro the A3PRO V2 and I'm having issues getting everything working correctly. I need help. Thank you
Something worth mentioning is that you must connect the ailerons to your receiver and stabiliser even if your plane doesnt have them. It will not work otherwise.
What about rudder, I'm making a fixed wing. At the moment the capacitor is in that or output 3. But getting terrible jitter. I have power from bec on esc but then also powering the rx from the rudder channel 5v rail. On the gyro. Got it all going but the servos twitching not crazy but quite a bit of movement. Gonna try some ferrite rings.
@@samuelkrajc there is a cap on the esc/bec also the one supplied on unused rudder pins. Still jitter. Gonna take it all off start again. Servos are fine on a tester It's all working as it should be except jitter. Start again see what happens if not, I try ferrite rings. If that fails I just go back to inav as I have a working wing on inav. Just that I killed a matek f411 & thought I'd try a cheaper gyro option. Can't find any wiring diagrams on A3 other than the manual. & I'm not using a pinned RX. X6b on pwm,
How come when I use my 3 position switch doesn't make the gyro match the colors of the function I set to them? Instead of turning green for position 1 it's solid blue... I set it up according to the video
What Happens when i Put all the Gyros to full +? Can I still takeoff without Problems is stable? I am a beginner so before my First takeoff i would Like to know that
I have the eflight Cirrus 1,5m what do you think are the best settings in the cirrus for a beginner?... I Just wanna fly relaxed so I need settings for very beginner..
You NEVER want to fly a gyro with full gains (I assume thats what you mean by full +?) The plane would wobble all over as the gyro keeps over correcting until it eventually would crash the plane. Start with the gains around 1/4 and then its micro adjustments. If you bring the plane to full throttle and it wiggles, then your gain is too high. You want to get it to the point where you see no wobble. I have no idea what to use for an EFlite plane as that is not our brand. I never flew one.
@@MotionRC I have it now between -20 and -25% and when i give throttle it still flatters at the ailerons i want very beginner settings is this normal that it still flatters?
Yep, that is the 1 limitation of this Stab. You need a receiver with both PWM and S-bus/PPM outputs or use a Y lead to extract a throttle connection via a PWM/PPM/S-bus convertor.
I have the problem that the auto-level mode just behaves like the trainer mode. It don´t let me do rolls. What can be the problem here? Firmware issue? My A3 Super let me do rolls in auto level mode.
this is very complicated for newbie (i am an experience hobbyist), i have friend ask me about how to get it to work. now i know why he have a hard time get it to work to what he want.
I can see that, but once you do it once then it becomes very simple. But definitely a learning curve as with all new tech your not used to. Thanks for watching
James, I've set up approximately 12 A3 Pro gyros. So not my first one. I'm having a little trouble. At first I was getting a constant slow violet flashing light. Tried programing it for OFF, NORMAL and AUTO LEVEL with the B switch. Nothing was working. After programming, it would always go back to blinking violet light. I then unplugged it and got out another new one and started plugging wires in. I plugged in the ailerons and the LED started flashing red, not violet, but red. Continued plugging things in and when I got to plugging in the elevator, it started flashing violet instead of red. Unplugged the elevator and went back to red. And BTW, while flashing violet it would adjust the control surfaces and I could not turn of the gyro function. WHAT IS GOING ON???? Two gyros same problem. It has to be something easy.
Atti-mode is a trainer mode, it will limit the maximum angle of the airplane on both roll and pitch axes. Roll and loop are not allowed in this mode, the airplane will be stabilized all the time, independent of any stick input.
tried an A3 pro, 3 good flights, then on 4th pack it just nosed dived my c1 chaser into hard ground, despite my giving it full up to pull out of the dive, now my C1 is a right of and my mobius camera is destroyed, got home and tookthe A3 out of the wreck and hit it with a big hammer, last hobbyeagle i will buy
Adjust the playback speed in the settings. It will make him sound more manly as well as slowing down the yapping! Or just tap the space bar to pause anywhere. ;-)
Once I achieved setting up 3-position, with slowed action, flaps, I hoped I was done with head scratching. May want to use stabilizers to deal with surprise windy conditions instead of packing up and going back home.
