The Hobbywing Axe 550 3300 kv on 3S is my go to for all my 10th crawlers (excluding hardcore comp rigs) & trail trucks. Amazing low speed control and crazy wheel speed when needed. Easily connects to app to adjust settings. I’ve got 10 of those systems in various platforms. My first was in the Redcat Gen 8 Axe edition. It’s been ABUSED for over 6 years including being submerged & mudding all the time and it’s still going strong!!
I’ve asked my local hobby store about this new R3 set up…they haven’t heard of it yet… Great review and answered all my questions…..I pre ordered one to save some money ….seems like a great price for a 1/6 scale set up.
The level of Hobbywing is so high that even if the new one are better for sure also the old one are still very good. I appreciate not to throw money because something becomes old as a new one comes out. Ciao!!
@@RCReviewChannel thanks! Oh, I know it. Good value I believe. I went with a similar level Radiolink and have been happy with it so far. But I allways pay attention to what comes up. Flysky has some good stuff.
I’ve been waiting for a review on the AXE R3. Was gonna get the other for my TRX6 but now I’ll just wait till this is out lol. Also, any chance the bigger motor will fit in the TRX6?😂😂😂😂
I think the advantage is this motor and a different sizes that it Hass can be used on many different categories of cars, and there will be no compromise.
So instead of actually improve cooling, they just made it larger? On my comp crawler I have a high kV outrunner 10x smaller geared down on a 20g 6s quad esc, it snaps axles like nobody's business and ripps loose on all mediums. It even bunny jumps from standstill. Why would one use a heavy brick motor ontop of your crawler? Down gearing is more efficient than lower kV motors since the electric losses are way higher than the gearbox losses. The best way is therefore to have more precise gearbox with lower ratios matched with a high kV motor.
This ESC works with the new bigger motor, but it also works with the existing 550 motor and 540 motor. Cooling is really not much of an issue especially with the very little fan. The compatibility with 2S-6S batteries is a huge deal.
