*Very well-made, stable, comfortable **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love that everything fits in bag. Easy to paddle for single person as well, however might be too heavy to carry by one.*
Of course we'd love an in-depth review on them all! They look like some of the ones I have previously owned by big names. And a lot cheaper, with the old Hobie drive that just makes them even better! I'm always looking for a good deal!
Thomas I’d look into a different yak now I’ve heard that the metal components are failing and not being replaced by the company. I’m hanks for watching I hope you subscribed
Two weeks ago I bought an Escape model. I’ve only had it out 5 times but so far I absolutely love it. In fact loved it so much, let my son try it and we just had a second Escape for my son arrive today. Very good kayak, perfect for where/what we fish here in Ohio. The wheel on the rear of the kayak is a life saver.
Prices seem to have gone up already. That Fisher 14 he said was $2400, now it's $3800. Not much different in price than a hobie PA at that price point.
@@hunterlawrence7228 Need to update my site. We do sell them and considerably lower. We also have demo's you can rent or try before thinking of purchasing.
Hi guys. I recently saw your video of this kayak and I'm sold on it. I was looking at the 14ft competition kayak but te price ($$$) was through the roof. When I saw the Stroke had a similar drive I was almost sold. The storage and built in multi use box sold me. Let's not forget the awesome price. WOW!! I called David the next day! Tank you for all the helpful videos. Jakyak Fishing
@@mrpush2532 yes I do. Compared to the Hobie PA 14 want it is less then half the price and potentially a good kayak. I'm a newbie and I think it will be a great platform to start with.
@@jackiejones9793 Hobie has had 20+ years to perfect their design, materials and manufacturing on the Mirage drive. I really wonder about the durability of these cheaper copies. Especially if you're going to be taking them out on big water.
@@betocampos6220 I just paddle when I need to go backwards. Being 5' 6" flipping the drive around is too much of a pain. I'm trying to find someone with a hobie 180 drive to see if it'll drop in.
I am not all that impressed with the prices, but there certainly is a great need for competitive pricing in fishing kayaks. Interestingly, for about half the price of some of those kayaks, you can purchase a Pelican Bass Raider WITH an electric trolling motor and battery and have a boat with much greater stability but similar construction and materials. I would like to see information about the actual cost of manufacture of these kayaks.
Moving to Jacksonville next Friday, cant wait. Will definitely check them out as I'm selling all my fresh water kayaks for a sit on top with peddle drive.
Need to see the bottom of the kayaks, rudders, & steering assembly. Interested in the paddle kayaks & can you buy a "pdl" kayak at a discount "without" the "pdl" stroke is offering. Any info is appreciated as well as color options too.
You are welcome to come to shop and see all you want. No pressure to buy. Why do you want it without pedal drive? We have several colors but depends on which model.
The built in cooler is an interesting feature. As we’ve all seen, the knockoff drive systems haven’t fared too well in actual use. I don’t see any reason to expect that this brand would be better at making reliable pedal drives than Pelican has been so far. That said, I DO personally think these have a place in the market as a budget option for people who can’t or won’t spend the money for a Hobie.
@@SlotCityFishing Well, it would be great for lots of people if these drives and kayaks can offer anything like Hobie quality at like half the price. My personal preference is for a rock solid platform I k now I can trust with my life, because where I live, the water is deep, cold, and rough. It's not like I can just hop out and walk it back to shore if something goes wrong ;)
ya. I dont trust the other company drives. I own a vibe shearwater 125 and ponied up the extra cash for a hobie 180 drive (I also really wanted reverse)
Honestly i really wouldn't call them knock offs at this point. Hobies original patent expired to open domain, so the main mechanism is a near identical copy. Hobies other stuff like kickup,180,360 etc are still under patent. However im honestly surprised actual Chinese knock offs haven't been popping up (kinda hoping they will, because it will force legit companies to drop prices instead of running with the insane markup price model). Take Hobie accessories for example 10 dollar wheels, charge 200 bucks. Sell 20 bucks worth of materials as a sail kit, 500 bucks.
Fisher 14 is now $5,000. I wouldn’t call that inexpensive at all. In fact, that pricing pushes me towards a tried and true great kayak, Old Town Sportsman Autopilot at $4,449. I’ll save $500 and don’t have to work to move the watercraft.
all kayaks are on sale the fisher 14 for example is 2950 , i cant believe you can get a better kayak for a cheaper price , but of course : Competition so we spread informations since we cant sell it for this price .
Waw i saw the stroker fishing 14 for 3800 in the website a lot of money for a cheap version of the hobie pa and an unknown brand with the first version of of the hobie drive
Those kayaks looks nice, but the seat looks like it's sitting too far back and doesn't look adjustable. Where is the steering control and rudder for those others fishing models.
Strokes are bought through Alibaba from cheapo Chinese suppliers. $5,000 is a rip-off for Chinese crap that cost $800 from the supplier. I’ve seen them on Alibaba.
I've owned two of these yaks.. and I've owned 2 hobie kayaks.you can't tell the difference and drives..I've yet to run into any issues with the stroke drive..and I've much rather spend 1500 than 2500 for a yak.
The cheapest pedal drive kayak is $2200 on the Stroke website. At that price I'd rather buy a Hobie that is tried and true. With a new brand you never know how it'll hold up over time
hey can you help me please? i am about to buy a reel, 4000 size, and I need to know what reel should i buy for spinning . I have this 3 options: Spinfisher V, Spinfisher VI and Battle III Greetings from Chile
Amazing new products "Stroke" just got out. Prices are unbelievable......! You pay as twice as that out there for one of the top brands and they don't have as much as these ones have. I hope you guys can go in depth to describe more of that and also talk about warranty etc. I've been looking to buy me an Old Town Predator but this new product got me thinking really. Did you get to test with a GPS how fast it was? Thanks for the video.
I'm not lying they don't look nothing like them on the site..I've owned 2 and plus my hobie compass and they work just as good as my compass,I've yet to fuck up the drive.
Looks like St Augustine doesn't even carry them anymore. That's not a good sign. Those weight specs seem a little suspect. I think they are heavier than stated. I don't know if they raised their prices but they do not seem to be a a lot cheaper "as stated" compared to Hobie. I do like the FeelFree style keel in the wheel and built in cooler.
They have a website stroke kayaks. I was on it yesterday should be up. If you are in Florida I would call Dave Hernandez at st. Augustine paddle sports. The number is in the description of the video. He will also give you the best price. Thanks for watching tight lines.
@@SlotCityFishing In 2019 I ended up with the slayer propel 10 which is about 65lbs , great pedal yak , easy to handle on/off the water. Also have the Sentinel 100x which turned out to be a great little yak for the shallow rivers I do , I use it just as much as I do the pedal yak...lol
I was waiting on a new video but finally saw where they had posted them online to Fisher 14 went up $1400 since this video and the fisher 12 went up $1000 really I might have to look at some hobies now. Can’t believe they went up that much since September.
I agree, just saw this vid today then went to their website only to see Hobie prices. I got all excited for nothing just like my Christmas morning 🤣. At this price I’d rather just get a 2-3 year old Hobie PA and know that I’m getting the top dog in the industry. On a side note for future review videos can you include a rail mounted camera angle? One behind you and one in front? Thanks!
Guys you are looking at the manufacturer site which has a different price. We sell them way cheaper than what's on that website. Stop by SAPS to see all our stock and cheaper prices.
Derek who did you speak with because we are not selling at hobie prices. Did you call St Augustine Paddle Sports or Stroke? If you called SAPS then who did you speak too? We have all kayaks on display with the lower pricing.
This is a Chinese made kayak and it’s bought by the us manufactures and sold under there name so beware, and if you don’t believe me go look at the breakwater 12 by born salty company. It’s the same kayak and then go look at alibaba I think it something close to that where you will find all these clones for way cheaper so they are just buying them and shipping them here and selling them for a big markup
I'm sorry... I got my 2018 Kaku Wahoo when it came out.. i think it was like $900... To add a pedal drive it shouldn't be another 1300.... Ridiculous how high these kayaks have become. To act like "Oh, only $3000.." is insane to me.. HUH? ONLY? Insane... it wasn't that long ago you could get a decent yak for CHEAP... what happened?
@@KayakKingdom ok didn't know that.......here's an idea make the plate where the drive clicks in, rotatable...problem solved,,,I know, easy to say, hard to do.
To be clear I’m talkin about stroke kayaks. St Augustine paddle sports is an awesome store with lots of other great options. Dave will take care of ya down there and make sure you get what you’re looking for.
@@SlotCityFishing Perhaps Pin this comment or create and pin a new comment w/ both this and the following info about St Augustine Paddle Sports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm using a lot of ! because I'd Be all caps and throwing some WTFs otherwise
Yep and meanwhile from 2017 through this year, they put out so much more new tech and patents. I bought my Hobies second hand and would buy them again. You get what you pay for in almost every case. There's not one thing on any Hobie you cannot replace or service by yourself. Twenty years from now, I know I'll still have a working boat. That "Paradise" killed me. Total Oasis knock off. All models were a direct Hobie model knock off.
Calling these budget kayaks is an outright lie and makes me wonder if this video is nothing more than a youtube commercial. These kayak cost about the same as a Hobie so why would anyone take a chance on a new brand that might not hold up over time when you know Hobie is top quality? The cheapest price for a pedal drive on the Stroke website is $2200 for the 10 foot with price going all the way up to $4000. These are not cheap kayaks and for the money I'd rather buy a more well known brand with an established track record.
I didn’t get paid a dime to make this video aside from RU-vid ad revenue which is a very small amount. If you contact the owner of the store I mentioned in the video he will honor the prices i mentioned. At the prices he offers with the accessories you get this is a great deal not an outright lie.
I mean I wouldn't complain if thats what I had to fish with but him trying to say that it's a good deal? I disagree. They're all cheap Hobie clones of 6 or 7 year old Hobie designs. I'd rather just buy the used hobies for less money and more accessories from the people who just have to upgrade to the latest and greatest.
