ordered this Torp and had it last weekend. I had not checked the strength and had a couple. I was so impressed with the pour, body and head. the best on the Krupps SUB IMO. I soon realised I was tipsy after a few halves so checked the strength and saw it was 7.9%! This is a superb beer and the quality from the SUB is worth it. My only slight negative is the price of these torps now. Having said that I ordered 8 more torps that arrived yesterday, and this was in the new batch again. 5 Star Beer for me.

Nice review! I have just finished my Gandolf torp, and I really rate it. It has everything... fruity hops, toffee malts, spice, floral flavours, lovely head, great texture, good kick of alcohol while still tasting delicious. If I'd had this in 2021 it would have been in my top 10. As it is (on 5th Jan 2022), it's going to take some beating in 2022!

No way in hell a torp would last me 3 weeks, 3 hours maybe.

As a drayman, all your keg and cask has been properly been resting or venting for at least 24 -48 hours...they don't like being moved before being pulled...id buy two and load at same time and wait a couple of hours before you pull your first.

Hi Simon Another decent torp review, not too shabby considering most of the standard torps are affiliated with Heineken. The main reason for all the foam with the torps especially with the first pour is down to the new beer line being dry. You need to pull off about 2cm of foam into your glass, dispose (usually by drinking lol), rinse the glass and then when you pour the beer should fob less. Letting the torp sit in the Sub for a few hours also helps settle the beer. Another good tip is to hold the glass as close to the nozzle as possible at as close to horizontal as possible and straighten slowly as needed. Hope this helps. Joff

Always pour a tiny bit into the glass and pour it out. Wet glass and pour the rest of the pint. Always perfect 🍺🍺🍺👍🏻👍🏻

Personally for me, the torp needs to be treated delicately. So from delivery I let them set in the fridge for 2 days and take them out flat and carefully, load slowly with a ice cold glass...that works for me with the head issue 👍🏻

Simon mate, let the Torp or keg rest, you were flinging it around, you just inserted the line which sent the beer lively, I let my PD kegs rest for a few hours in position before pouring, still quite a lively first pour , but not Mr whippy :)

Simon when you put the keg in and waiting for the light to go green just pour a very small amount into a glass and wait for the light to go green. The reason for this is you need beer in the line and the beer will pour perfect if you do this going forward.

I still much prefer the perfect draft, and beerhawk do a brilliant points system too to really bring the costs down.

Half pint glass first pour then leave it to settle, then pour a new pint, works fine then refill your settled half.

I've managed to get no bigger than a 2 finger head on my beer now. Tap fully open, glass tilted 45 but touch the outlet on the top edge of the glass. You'll notice no foam coming out and the beer will trickle down the glass. Dont tilt glass up till the last minute and very slowly start straightening up. Dont need to wet glass or chill either 👍🏻

If you check beerwolf website where you buy them there is a video that shows u how to pour the first pint From the sub of each keg, you did everything that’s in their video except they pull the handle down half way and let the glass fill with froth, empty it out then pour the pint as normal. 👍

Keep your torps in the Fridge and let it settle inside for around 1.30hr before pulling through

I had the system for Christmas, had a Morretti and the Brand up IPA, both were delicious. Do you know if there is any news on them selling torps in Britain, having to spend £60 odd, is a bit much some months.

I always pull about 2cm into a glass. Then pour into a new glass and never have a big head like that but I’ve found that I do get a slightly larger head when red light is on.

This gandelph ipa is beautiful, so smooth, tasty and strong !

I have the exact same problem with my sub compact. I’ve tried wetting the glass, pulling the handle right down, trying all sorts of angles on the glass however no matter what I do I still get foam. I’ve even tried loading a sub days before drinking. This is the only problem with this machine. I usually just pour a pint and leave it to settle before topping it up and drinking. The only way it slightly works for me is loading the night before and pouring a bit in the glass before leaving over night.

I bought the sub on 29th dec. love it.

I'm more of a lager drinker myself but I do like a good wheat beer. Have you tried the Edelweiss Hefetrüb torp yet? It would be interesting to see you do a review of that and see what you think. Edit: Nevermind, I just found your review!

Great review (rocket fuel) if you could review one of the subs craft beers would be great there the next level of freshness and for some reason pour a lot easier than regular torps.

Sounds like an interesting beer, but beerwolf’s delivery charges make it very expensive, order 2 subs and it’s £4.42 a pint.

Pull the tap on and let the first second maybe second and half of beer miss the glass then insert glass at the 45 and it pours really good u lose only the foam in the tube which is what I think is causing the too much foam problem just something that’s worked for me not sure if am right 🤔

This is a decent beer I like it👍🏼 I have the same problem with the first pour and have tried everything.

leave the barrel settle for a few mins once connected,tap it or flick it with finger 4 or 5 times,wait another 2 mins then pour...see if that works ;)

ALSO the lagers are quite fizzy, I bought a punk ipa and that poured perfect!! No fuss with it atall

Really want to get one but the noise is putting me off I'm not very good with noise as I have tinnitus in my left ear. Is it really loud or not to bad? I can't tell thanks Danny. Ps love the channel 👍🍺

A friend of mine just gave me a can of Putty Double IPA by Verdant. You guys have to try this stuff.

How bitter is it?

Has anyone experienced their Krups machine making a low hum every few minutes for about 10 seconds? Mine did it on the first Trup but then I pushed the bottle back harder into the machine and it stopped. On this Trup of Gandolf, I can't stop it happening...

Great review as always. Had the compact system for Christmas with 2 of those torps and 2 Affligem Blond torps. Both are really good. Are there any others you'd recommend?

Can't see the point, it's Keg, which to me is practically the same as bottled. Cask is the only way to go.....
