The VRAM usage concerns are with Ray Tracing Active. Disable Ray Tracing and VRAM usage will fall in line. Yes I stated I used DLSS but used NIS instead.

The main problem with implementation of Denuvo is that most of the publishers modify it to their specifications which ruins the performance even more and this is the sole reason while some games have great improvement after its removal while others don't see any improvements.

Absolutely love the presentation and delivery of your port review here, really amazing to see that this game (without any day 1 patch) is running as flawlessly as it is on PC. I personally dont touch Raytracing in most of my games because of how much resources it pulls. Hogwarts Legacy really impressed me.

I’ll hav to do some more testing with settings on my rig. Not sure if it was just cause I was trying to stream the game. Ryzen 5 3600, 32gb ram, an rtx 2060 Super. Outside of streaming the game did run better, still some slight stuttering occurred for me on Medium. Beyond that the game is running good despite some of the slight performance issues I’ve experienced. Indeed better than most games as of late

If you’re using nvenc to stream you need to reduce the Gpu load so that ObS can use the Gpu

I've been having a lot of fun with this game. And let's remember that this is the game without the day one patch and without an optimized driver. So things should only improve. Also, you used NIS instead of DLSS. Great video though!

For people with multimonitor setups who don't know yet: You can download 3rd party software like Dual Monitor Tools to lock your cursor to whichever screen you want. Easy fix for the lack of fullscreen/lock cursor option in game. Although I still wish they'd add that option in game.

I'm playing it on a 7700x/rtx 4090 game runs great. Exemplary for a UE4 game I might say. RT reflections while nice they are a bit noisy but other than that the games great. Good job Avalanche

@@OhNoItsAlexx funny enough when I was streaming it last night it ran well, but afterwards performance dropped. However I just updated my driver's and it seems to be running ok now! Also switched from fsr 2.0 to Nvidia nis and that seems to be working well!

Great stuff 2:20 You don't really have to worry about CPU bottlenecks if you only aim for 60fps. The CPU usage would be half of this at 60, so most people's cpu will be fine. Also it's unreasonable to expect games to be multi-threaded on 8 cores. It's normal for a few threads to sit at 0. You can't multithread games that much in reality Also motionblur settings need to differentiate between camera blur and object blur. It suck when they do a single toggle like this because you want to later but not the former (and yes, you do want object motionblur to be on, I don't care) And yeah that was NIS here not DLSS haha. Not sure why they even included it, it's worse than FSR2.

Thanks for the review. The game runs pretty well but ray tracing definitely needs some work. The VRAM usage with ray tracing on jumps up a lot as well.

It does stutter quite a lot with new scenes loading in on my Ryzen 3600 but once they do its rock solid. I hope Nvidia Drivers are gonna improve on it.

I have some small issues on console, a rare quick stutter once an hour, but overall I fucking love this game because it's mechanics, the combat system, etc. I just love it when a combat system isn't a button masher, so between this game and Hi-Fi rush i am eating GOOD!

Speaking of the Steam Controller, I kind of want one now. I like the gyro aiming on the Switch Pro Controller, and it has that with X-input buttons, so it seems like the perfect PC controller.

You should keep in mind that SC doesn't have a stick for aiming. This can be good or bad depending on how you look at it, but it'll take some time to adjust, and if you are not planning to dedicate your muscle memory to SC, I'd say it's not worth it. There's 8bitDo Ultimate controller, which is probably the better option, it has gyro and back buttons as well

The only place that I had an issue in this game is in Hogsmeade. That performance can take a shit there. Other than that, it was good.

Cpu usage makes me very sad. My gpu can take it and I get 70-100 fps in some areas but then I get into main areas and I tank down to 40-50 with 80ish gpu usage and a lot of stuttering. Fingers cross they optimize it

Been waiting for this, thanks himbo! Funnily enough though, everything I've read is basically the exact opposite. Most people are reporting awful frame times and frame drops to single digits, even those with monster pcs. I havnt bought it yet personally, waiting for a few patches probs get it at the end of month. Hopefully my old ass 6600k and 2070super can hold up.

Great Video. Once I heard this was Avalanche, I had a lot of confidence in a quality PC port. I've been leaning more to consoles lately after the initial appalling performance of Callisto Protocol and Dead Space which is still a stuttering mess.

Dead space remake only stuttered for me on day one or when I performed the infinite ammo glitch after doing it for 3 hours straight. It also only had bugs once. That was when I played it at launch before updating my drivers.

wife is playing this on a 13900k/4090/ 32 Gb 7800mhz ddr5 / ultra gfx / ultra rtx with HDR on a 3440 x 1440 panel with 180 hz. Shes getting 145 inside castle and 90 in the forests with everything maxed out. native, no dlss. direct storage is enabled on this pc as well. it boots at about 12 gb on ram and 10 on vram, but then shoots up to 19.5 ram and 14.4 vram. Thats the max i have seen it

CPU is clearly a problem. I had a really stable undervolt on my 13700K so far, but the shaders loading always crashed the game until I took back some of the undervolting. I had it stable at -0.08 but this game just started working at -0.05, everything else was absolutely fine before. I blame this game

Mmmm interesting. I saw Someordinarygamer Muta saying that he is getting a lot of stutters in later game sections. He didnt had this issue in the first gameplay hours and then when the game opened up more then he started to get real issues.

At 3070 and i7 11 gen and 16 ram the stuttering NEVER stops. Everything is on high no film grain no motion blur 10 % fov it’s between 90 and 70 put drops to 40 and 30 a lot Am at a lost Edit : and it’s on 1080

I've a 2070 super and a 7700. The frame drops I get are severe, and when they happen they persist for a while. I dropped all my settings and it's still occurring.

That’s a shader cache issue…you need to reload them as my 2070super had no issues or lengthy stutters

I found some Steam Deck optimizations that make Hogwarts Legacy run a lot better. They make Hogwarts Legacy run at a near constant 40fps+ at 800p. Maybe you should try playing around with it and see if you can get it to run even better.

I don't understand why it runs so poor on my rig. I have a 3070, ryzen 3700x, 32gb of ram, nvme ssd, very laggy and stutters like crazy. I struggle to play in 1080p when this setup usually allows me to get 90+ fps in modern games on high settings in 1440p. I'm so confused. I struggle to get 40 fps at times in hogwarts legacy. It's killing me.

Dude you have a 7900x. A best of a cpu. It has stuttering issues with my and I have a 5900x with a 4090. It’s not a big stutter but it’s there. You need a 7000 series or Intel 13 gen for this game. It’s insanely cpu intensive in the castle. You’d say different if you had like a 5600x.
