This actually managed to happen when I was playing Germany. The Soviets invaded Poland somehow a year into it Poland was still there. France and Britain declared war they sent troops to Poland and in 1941 the Americans joined in and they defeated the Soviet Union which ended up becoming the Russian federation. It was definitely a very interesting thing to watch
I had a similar thing. I turned off historical AI for the first time. Picked Germany and planned to kind of just do a non-aligned Germany. Poland gets invaded by USSR and the Allies went to town. All I could imagine was just every Nazi leader remaining in 1941 was just like "Holy shit that is what we dodged?"
@nabakunlaismime5526 usually not until it exhaust it's historical options the longer a game goes on for the higher the chance the ai will free form non historical is more based on nations reacting to each other and the player if your like me then whatever changes you made at start
Probably a similar scenario of what happened with the nationalists, broke beyond any reasonable amount since the "republicans" gave all the gold to Josef Stalin. I would be hated by all the playerbase if this change was added, but imagine what would happen if you cannot prevent the republicans giving the gold giving you a HUGE debuff in all regards, making you practically broke during the whole game unless you do certain tasks, like fight for the axis or the allies and exchange war score for points to get out of the mega deficit of the economy, something like a puppet system, with an obviously small trickle done per each civilian factory you have
They kind of did. Franco was monarchist supporter and he returned the monarchy back on the throne as his last move. I wouldn't hold it past the spanish royal family if they had bankrolled and supported him from the beginning.
Honestly I can't see much changing history Spain still wouldn't have helped in WW2 as the civil war destroyed them and the monarch would need to not piss off either sides and probably eventually become a democracy again like in our timeline
There's an unfortunate chance that Franco might not be able to made it to the end because of accident. If so, the conflict between Falangist and Carlist would be inevitable. My point is the alliance that the Nationalist have are heavily dependent on Franco, which means the fate of a single man is also the fate of the whole faction. I think it would be more plausible for Franco to died during civil war than not being invited to the faction (the vanilla Falangist focus tree). About who's going to be the 'winner' of the civil war, I would bet on Falangist. Considering that the Nationalist were supported by the Axis because of their 'supposed' ideology, I would guess that the Falangist have way more upper hand than the Carlist. Although having more local support means the Carlist would be harder to deal with.
They would do the same they did against Austria being taking some attention of the main front but this against France and not Austria. Overall Russia would most likely capitulate a bit faster and Central Power would make more progress against France but the general outcome most likely wouldn't change much.
@@KiraiKatsuji Imagine Verdun but hundreds of thousands of fewer French troops because they were occupied in the Alps. I don't think most people understand how close the Central Powers were to winning at several points throughout the war.

Super interesting! This seems like the kind of scenario that needs its own entire mod, HOI4 doesn’t do a very good job of accounting for the social repercussions of the Bomb. Would the world rally against the warmongering United States? Would the Communist nations cower in the fear that they would be next? Super fun to think about, but to do it justice you would need custom focus trees accounting for the consequences of nuclear war
Russia was the MOST prepared country in WWI after their defeat in Russo-Japanese War. They started production of first armored cars immediately after it in 1905(but the political figure behind the project was blown up by anarchists), they had gone to rearm, buying and licensing ANY machinegun and artillery piece they can find(remember french 105mm divisional gun? It was developed for order placed by russian government for 107mm one) and so on. However it's not unpreparedness that drove them under, it was political turmoil and decades of opposition to industrialization by russian nobility.

From arming cavalry with Madsen MGs and grenades to producing Putilov-Garford wheeled tanks(if you think it's "just" armored car, that armored car had 11mm of armor and long 75mm in rotating turret). However it didn't have 1)industry; 2)was de facto fighting low intensity civil war since 1905.
What if Sweden never lost Finland in the napoleinic wars and kept Finland and the Swedish Monarchy in power until ww1 where they joined the central powers (great war redux)

both of those occurring are literally impossible.the only cables going across the atlantic ran through britain, so when they see a message from the german foreign office they are obviously going to read it. and this is forgetting the sorry state mexico was in in 1917, having just recovered from a brutal civil war which left absolutely no fighting spirit within the mexican ranks

The invasion and occupation of Poland by Germany and the USSR occurred in September 1939, and the Winter War ended in March 1940. France was invaded in May 1940, and capitulated in late June 1940. I don't believe you actually intentionally lied, but this is a major mistake for someone of your profession to make. My displeasure is compounded by the fact you erroneously cited this unexpected catastrophe to erroneously portray Britain's lack of resolve to assist and defend its professed allies and friends who it saw as expendable and less important against evil people and their regimes as instead a total inability to do so. There were all you have to do is check the comments myself and a few others have left quite a few. One of which is his "What if Japan Attacked the Soviets instead of the US". The US also very much wanted to knock out the soviets before th Germans invaded. Thus if Japan chose that route the US most likely would have assisted the Japanese since we had good relations all the way up till their invasion of China, and Pearl Harbor.
What if Germany fully Conquered Austro-Hungary and used its territories to make better treaties with its neighbors, like an Italian anti French treaty and a Russian non-aggression treaty.
This alternate history actually makes a lot of sense to my (limited) knowledge of WW2. Churchill was not a fan of Communists. Some of the first resistance groups that appeared in Denmark were members of the Danish Communist Party, that were veterans from the Spanish Civil War, as well as students that had the veterans as teachers at the university etc. These appeared in 1941 after the German attack on the Soviet Union, which led to the Germans making the Communist party illegal in Denmark. In the beginning they were making homemade bombs with chemicals stolen from school labs, and stole guns from German soldiers. Later, as they made contact with London, they got supplies from the British. However, when other non-communist resistance groups started being formed, they were prioritized over those that were communist.
No Winter War and Germany likely has a harder time moving into the USSR Leningrad likely doesn't get encircled and the Soviets halt Them earlier than in December 41 perhaps in Fall 41. Also possible the Soviets don't get the combat experience needed to defend against Germany and take more losses. Not too much changes aside from specific elements of Barb. And maybe offensive is launched sooner.
Same thing as with the Baltic States: the Soviets would follow up with demands to establish bases in Finland. Should Finland accept, the Soviets would send a garrison equal or greater then the Finnish armed forces. And after some time would demand appointment of a friendly government and “elections”. All parties besides the soviet one would be forbidden from participating and for good measure fake votes would be added. First act of the new government would be requesting to join the USSR. The reason why it wouldn’t work the same way as with Romania is because the whole of Finland was assigned to the soviet sphere and the territories that the Soviets demanded were essential to Finland’s defence. Finland agreed to peace when the Mannerheim line was breached because without it the defence of southern Finland, lacking foreign support, would simply become a delaying retreat towards the capital. So giving it up without a fight would leave Finland in a much worse situation should the Soviets follow up with demands for bases
3:24 You should also remember that as it was in ww1 the Plan was for the UK to focus mainly on the naval side, while FRANCE would handle most of the army side on the continent. The British army was very small because what little money had gone fo defense spending had almost all gone to the navy.
Have you done Operation Unthinkable? I know it is a little beyond the scope of base HOI4, but maybe with the road to 56 mod and a 1939 start: What if the Allies pulled the trigger on Operation Unthinkable and used what remained of the Wehrmacht to invade the Soviet union? Maybe start as 1939 US or UK, follow historical, cap the Nazis, but in the peace deal, annex West Germany, start some reconstruction efforts, find some way to declare war on the Soviets, then release and play as West Germany to either dissolve the Soviet Union or at least liberate Eastern Europe. This Scenario to make the first half interesting could maybe include a second what if: What If, with the plan of Operation Unthinkable in mind, the allies focused on Africa & the Middle East first [to secure oil], Japan and the Pacific second [to secure rubber and the colonies] and Mainland Europe last [to bleed the Russians on Germany].
So in ww1 many Australian generals were against Gallipoli and poziers and the Somme. What if australia was able to be under full australian command under Monash and not used as shock troops and cannon fodder (lack of bieng able to explain in words)from the start?

Maybe I am confused, but how could Germany not take Norway? They literally took Norway and Denmark BEFORE invading France. Meaning, they should have already had them under raps before the disaster in France.
There's a lot of things that have been left out. Even though this is alt histor he likes to conform it in ways that make no sense. One main thing is if Britain committed that many troops to Finland they would have dedicated plenty of aircraft that would leave France practically undefeated from the air. Not to mention operation sealing might have actually succeeded with a decent chunck of their airforce and army fighting the Soviets. Not to mention he messed up some of the information. The allies didn't want Italy on their side after the invasion of Ethiopia and even embargoed them. Mussolini reached out about defending Austria from the Germans, but England and France said no. When they appeased Germany they practically signed Italy's death wish. Mussolini actually despised Hitler before WW2 and once he got told off by the allies he pretty much had 2 options eith die to one or die to the other. Not to mention the only reason Mussolini saw better advances was because he practically gave control to Hitler so that Italy wouldn't fall.

America only entered the war in Europe because Germany declared war on America because America declared war on Japan! So in this scenerio world Germany declare war on America because if not America would not get involved Europe! I cannot see Germany attack the soviets in this situation given they are both fighting the Allie’s. Hitler would have to wait until England capitulated due to a stalemate to attack the Soviets and with our America, I am sure this would have happened.

The WHAT IF I would like to see is a revisit of Japan with 2 notable changes to that round. First Japan still goes North but Bad mustache man convinces Japan to join not realizing they were going to do that, in exchange Germany "hands over" European colonies in Asia after the low countries fall (ie resources), so by taking these colonies appeasing the Navy a bit. Second that since Japan knows that Germany will invade they wait till after Germany invades in the west (preferably waiting till Stalin is coming out of his funk).
What if the British navy got more funding pre ww2? (leave the Washington naval treaty immediately, don't sign the London treaty. etc etc, focus on dockyards etc)
What if Mexico became a more active ally at the start of WW2? (They had objected to the annexation of Austria, and later joined the war, even sending planes to the pacific theatre, but i wonder what would happen if they were like Brazil and had sent troops to Europe)
What if Italy didn't invade Greece ? (Either a neutral or axis greece would mean no invasion of Yugoslavia, no axis Bulgaria, and an earlier Operation Barbarossa)
i've been watching a lot ww2 stuff recently, primarily through the channel World War Two, its made it clear to me that ww2 in its early days were so many broken and unfulfilled promises, specifically to finland and poland. but that being said, its not unsurprising given the state of the world
