Another great review. Just got some yesterday. Super excited- loved Mach 4s and love the “bird of paradise/tropical cocktail” orange colour way! Sadly had to send back and go up half a size (length rather than width the issue).

A few hours ago I bought 2 pairs of mach 6, blue for me and yellow for my wife, before that I almost took gel nimbus 26 but then I chose Hoka Mach 6, the two shops are close to each other. Previously I jogged for 3 minutes with this Mach 6 at the Hoka store, these shoes are light and stick to my feet, the tongue is soft, it doesn't hurt the skin on my ankles, that's why I chose Hoka mach 6 over gel nimbus 26. I would wear Hoka Mach 6 for daily running and I hope it would beyond my expectation. Iam subs to you. Thank you for the review

The 6 is definitely a huge upgrade. I’ve been running in it quite a bit and it feels great. The only thing I would’ve done differently is probably go for the wide version. It’s much more narrow than the Mach 5 and my foot could use a bit of extra room.

I used the Mach 5 as part of marathon training for long runs that had pick up paces during it or tempo runs. Rebel or Mach 6 or Mach 5? I think if I can get cheap 5 is the decision while I can

I have to say I was shocked when I received the Mach 6, so different to the Mach 5 (the shoe I did my first Half in) and I was worried about how they would feel on a run. Well, fears were allayed within the first couple of hundred meters on my first run in them on Sunday. Super comfortable, very responsive, found the fit better than the Mach 5 (I had to tighten the laces up so much I have a lot of creasing on the top of the shoe) and overall very happy with them, great shoe!

Sent the 6 back, hated it compared with the 5. So narrow and the grip takes away what made the 5 special

Running novice here: I already have the clifton 8 and enjoying it. But as I start doing some interval sessions lately I feel that is a bit too soft and/or a bit unstable. Would this complement the clifton ? Also compared to the clifton 8, is this narrower? Thanks in advance Ben

Interested in this shoe as a new daily trainer (and possibly the Rebel), but the durability of the midsole is making me hold off until I can find longer term reviews.

I have a pair of Mach 5s with 120 miles on them and love them, but the wear on the exposed EVA is pretty crazy, enough that I think the drop on them has changed. I already bought the Mach 6 and have 20 miles in them over my first 3 workouts in them and love them even more than the 5s.

Same here. The wear on the outsole is ridiculous, it's a shame I couldn't use my favorite shoes twice as long. How'd you compare the 5 to the 6, in terms of softness/cushion/responsiveness? Or maybe you can even compare 'em to the Endorphin Speed 3, Asics Glideride,...or other shoes I might've had in my rotation? :)

I tried Hoka Rincons a few years back, and I may have gotten a half size too big, but both pairs gave me weird foot cramps and soleus injuries - I usually run shoes that have about a 4 mm drop too! When I went to get new trail shoes I tried the Hoka speedgoats, and immediately threw them off my feet after trying them on because they were way too narrow and knew that they would eat my feet.

I recently purchased Speedgoat 5s and for me they are wide enough, could be a little narrower. It feels as they are too loose after some time, so you retighten them. And i used a lacelock before. They also could be a little firmer - me having 90kg isn't helping for hard downhill. I read that the brandnew Speedgoat 6 improves in those areas.

I wonder how's the durability on a Hoka shoes coz I've always read somewhere that they don't exactly have a good durability,especially if this is going to be a daily pair.

I’m currently in a 2e which is tight so I’m worried if I go a 2e in the newer model it will be too tight. Is there something else available that provides the same responsiveness in a wide fit? Thanks

How aggressive is the rocker? That has always been my complaint with Hoka. The rocker is always far too aggressive.

i have the mach 6 wide version, first test out of the box was a 34k run and they felt amazing every step of it.

I notice that Seth said they weren't a shoe for long runs, but I presume when Ben says "daily shoe" he means easy, medium-long, long, and everything that's not up on toes speed stuff. Do you agree with Ben on that?

For sure, did a marathon on them not so long ago. I am not ultra fast, but i think 3.39 is decent.

How's the durability on this shoe? I've logged 850mi / 1350km on my Mach 4's and they still look and feel great, so wondering how the new iteration of the shoe compares :)

Being 6’3” I’m not a fan of all these new shoes with high stacks. Would love to see a roundup of more sensible shoes with around 27mm stack height

I didn't like the feel of the mach 5 at all so I wasn't even considering the 6 until I tried it on and really liked it. Excited to take it out on my long run

I have 2 pairs of Mach 4s ( 200 mile and 0 mile) and just bought 2 more pairs of 5s ( 170 miles and 0 on the two new pairs). Likely going to buy the 6 soon!

Nothing like the Mach 5. The 6 (Wide) has a firmer ride and higher stack. My tendon plate injury returned after two weeks running on them. Too bad. Now I have to search for a alternative

I think yes, Nimbus is to clungy for every day running. Cilfton is good but for me to narrow.

Buy something new. The latest model is 40, so your probably lost a lot of cushioning as the foam ages if you use the shoes or not.

For cushioning, I've never had a better shoe than a Hoka. They were like running on air. Unfortunately, they were a bit wide for my foot, so they would pinch on my insole when going for a longer run. This narrower update may suit me better.

I'm 59, just watched your "sprinting" vid but it didn't talk about sprinting. I don't want to be a runner, I want to sprint 3x per week, blending it in with yoga, weightlifting, hiking & a bit of water skiing. The first time I overdid it & strained my hamstring, so I took a month off, when I resumed, I strained the other hamstring & as you said, my calves were incredibly sore. Would pls do a vid on how a reasonably fit late 50s / early '60s person would ease into sprinting? You put trainees on a 14-day cycle, & said to mix in swimming & walking, but did you say how to mix it in, is that on the rest days, I thought you said substitute alternative sports for running days, but maybe you could please clarify that too? Thank you

For a US size 13 (UK 12) it's not bad given the stack! It's 235g for a reference size 9 per running warehouse

Yeah keep in mind how huge his shoe is. In a standard men’s size 9 US (8 in UK), the difference between this and the rebel is negligible.

Hoka is a bit of a ripoff here in Japan due to the weak yen. NB Rebel 4 is the clear winner being 40% cheaper!

I can't stand the new update. Too high and too little ground feel. Gone from a fast fun sporty Porshe to a boring Toyota Camry Hybrid if I was to compare. Stocked up on the Mach 5s. Hope Hoka bring out something sporty and fun like the Mach 5 in the future.

The drop is 9,6mm, not what Hoka claims! It's just a EVA based foam. Not super Critical foam. Supercritical formulation that feels quite good and better than ever in the series-it’s still EVA.

hoka is definitely not suited for everyone. Just ran my first marathon in the clifton 9s and had a lot of blisters aswell

Im finding there are 2 camps in regard to hoka running shoes - people who love and run only in hoka and rearly try other brands , and people who hate and stay away from hoka road running- im in later camp and dont think that will chsnge any time soon 😅

anyone orthopedic doctor in here? is it that shoe realy healthy for your ankle? i mean is like you running on cushion sofa squishy soft shoe, im not a doctor but i think too much running on soft cushion bed isn't good for your foot.
