This is a tough one - on one hand, we have the stellar out-of-the-box lightweight dream shoe in the HOKA Rincon 3, while on the other hand, we have what is possibly our favorite daily trainer of 2021 in the ASICS Novablast 2. Both provide a great feel during any run, both deserve some love. But only one can come out alive in the BTS death match. (Not entirely true, you can still buy both and be plenty happy.)

Just got back from an 8 miler in my Novo 2's. Absolutely love the shoe and the energy return and cushy ride I get from it. Next to my S/E Speed 1's, they are my favorite shoe to run in. No experience with the Rincon 3. I have, count them, 11 models of running shoes currently, with the Atreyu Base Model v2 and the Artist on the way. You guys gotta stop talking or I am going to go bankrupt! Let me see, I like this one and this one and... I can see me on the side of the road with a sign, "Will sell shoes for food." ;-)

My Rinconsv are being delivered today, I’m liking the novas v2 but I continue to reach for the nova v1s more often, I’ve seen great sale prices on them as well👍

I have Nova1 and Rincon3. While Nova gives me the trampoline on toe off, but its so heavy and the upper is on 'less breathable' for tropical climate. Rincon3 is so much lighter and i dont really feel the weight even when im starting to get tired beyond 15km. And I used to have Clifton6 up to 1200km, so i believe Rincon3 should be able do at least 600km (already have 40km after just a week since arrival, and i rotate shoes)

I think added weight on trainers adds to our conditioning, makes me appreciate when I lace up my racing shoes and how much lighter it makes me feel, when I am then trying to post a fast time.

I tried the novablast 2 for the first time yesterday. The upper didn't do so great in the nyc humidity. They were soaked with sweat by the end of my 12 mile run

Statement that Novablast would last 300 miles sounds a bit off. I mean, typically it's about Hoka shoes to which people attribute that low mileage, and even that is an understatement. Both Clifton and Rincon can handle 400-500. And Novablast is a sure 500-700 miles shoe.

I have all 3 models and love them all for different reasons. "Best" in shoes is very subjective. Me personally, if I could only buy one shoe of the 3, it would be the Novoblast 2 but the other 2 are great also.

The designers of Asics Noosa Tri 13s have definitely tried those Christmas mushrooms before deciding upon the color schemes :) I love those colorways.

I am using the Rincon 3 for a 100 miler and the endorphin speeds not sure yet.I am running the javelina jundred so road shoes would work. 👍😎.

I own a pair of the novablast 1 and 2’s and instantly fell in love with the 1’s in a size 9, which felt a little long. So I bought the 2’s a half size down, which felt a little tight initially, but as I run in my 2 the Jacquard mesh is starting stretch and form better around my foot and give me a great lockdown, which has meant I have grown to love the 2 as I add more mileage in them. I love the cushy mid foot in the 2’s, and the heel in the 1’s, so depending on how you strike. I think they are two different shoes, kind of how the meta speed sky and edge are built for striders or cadence runners. I see the 1&2 to suit the needs of the runners strike preference.

The magical ride of the OG Novablast just doesn't hit the same in the new version. Not sure how everyone can't notice that unless you just had too much issues with stability in the 1st.

I hated the Novablast 2. Felt so chunky and heavy in the heal and I could never turn my feet over quickly. The upper also soaks up sweat and gets hot. Had to return them after about 50 miles.

I have limited running shoe experience, having only owned three pair. Clifton 6, Clifton 7 and Novablast 2. Of those three shoes, the Novablast are by far the best shoe for me. I call them my magic shoes. It's as if the shoes want you to move forward faster. The energy return is really amazing. From what I hear, Asics is planning some upgrades to this shoe for next season, so I'll be looking forward to that. In the meantime though, I'll keep putting these shoes through their paces. (or are they putting me through my paces?)

Second that, Ricon’s problem is in the midsole not durable . Pls do a Skechers maxroad 5 comparison maybe with the endorphin speed 2?

My opinion is those 2 shoes are in different classes. I have the Max Road 5 and the S/E Speed 1. The Max 5 is a max cushion all around daily trainer. The Speed is a good pick for speed workouts and as a race shoe also for guys like me that are not into carbon plates. Just my opinion.

I beg to differ with you. The Saucony Endorphin Speed 1&2 is one of the most versatile running shoes around. It is a all arounder. Plate or no plate. It can do it all. Definitely soft enough for easier daily recover runs as well as for racing too. If you were going to have only one shoe in your rotation for everything this would be my choice.

Word has it they did something different with the midsole of v3 so hopefully this iteration won’t have that issue.

My Clifton is like running in sand. As for V1 NovaB, i like very much. Price is 1/2 off for Asics, Hoka only 20% off on their sales.

Is the grip any better in the novablast 2 than the 1? Because around here when you get wet weather running up hills is just a painful experience in the original version. We don't have to much hot mix pavement around here just mainly granular bitumen.

I have the 2 and I also prefer the Novablast 2… but I think the Rincon is a faster shoe. But the durability is a deal breaker.

The novablast just seems like it would be just softer and more responsive dispute both being eva. I love hoka and it seems like a lot of people do who come for shoes. But EVA just feels flat to me. It could just be me but feels like bricks after a while. I’m gonna half the novablast is definitely more versatile. The only problem with the rincon is the durability is about a dollar a mile.

That's incorrect. Novablast is OBC, not EVA.
