He hasn't lost a game since 2016 so this is probably tough for him and the staff he brought from UCF. I'm sure he'll get it on track, but in the meantime I will continue to savor the wins here at UCF and be grateful for how he helped to set us up.

Joel Schumacher as a die hard Colorado fan, this is your guy. If there’s a coach you’ve had the last 15 years that as your enemy I can admit can take you back to the promised land, it’s him. Hell of a game I wasn’t surprised, if you guys are patient and our program turns the corner maybe we will get to renew our rivalry in the college playoff! Cheers and again great game

Secondary needs the most work. giving up 351 yards passing (only 44 yards rushing) and 3 out of 4 TDs were thru the air. But I like where this team is heading.

Of course there's plenty of room for improvement, but this attacking defensive scheme is designed to be high risk/high reward. For all the pressure you apply at the point of attack to get TFLs/Sacks/"Turnovers", you risk giving up the 3rd/15 or 20 conversions. The DBs are on an island and unless you've got a set of shutdown corners, they are highly dependent of the line/LBs getting to the QB in a hurry. Just my 2 cents.
@blackshirtsd9916
@blackshirtsd9916 6 лет назад
The 2010 blackshirts ran a very similar defense, they were a top 10 defense in the country. Again, the secondary needs work, though we might not see it this year. I'd say in 2 years we'll see the players Frost wants at those positions. Most the secondary are riley recruits.

Hey, considering this was our first game of the season against a really good Colorado team that'll likely finish in the top 20 by Nov. Not bad at all. No one else but Nebraska beat the Huskers. So we shake off the rust and move on to Troy.

Nebraska's secondary has problems. Their defensive line looks fantastic, but the problems seemed to be visible off the 10 yard slants the Buffalos were running. Nebraska's quarterback is phenomenal, good O line as well. Lots of talent here, just need to fix that secondary.

Looked completely unintentional to me. If he really wanted to bulldoze the player he would have put his arms out to make contact. He didn't.
@rooh5825
@rooh5825 6 лет назад
If you were to look at the end, where Reed's arms flayed out, it appears he did a heavy push at the end which made the contact worse. I'm speaking from the position of devil's advocate here, because honestly, I'm sick of the garbage calls going on in football these days. It is utter nonsense. There is a risk averse culture that exists now in which they will air on the side of ridiculous caution in order to avoid a media nightmare in which they are accused of "you don't care about the players". This accusation has already been flying around for a decade. Nevermind that NFL players made millions, when they mis manage their money and die with nothing, it was the NFL's fault for some mysterious head ailment. I look at our military, farmers, deep sea fishermen, who do far more dangerous work and make far less money, and get nothing at the end of their career as an extra reward because "oh it was so dangerous". Don't mean to ramble on, but that's my position on this entire issue. Most of the flags are going out there because the offensive players lower themselves after the defensive player goes in for the tackle, it is preposterous how the calls are being made. Hopefully at some point common sense will prevail, but I doubt it. We are on the slippery path to flag football.

This "Targeting" BULLSHIT is the BIGGEST SINGLE TOTAL KRAP Call out there!!! It damn near takes the college game, & turns it into some sort of "judge's opinion beauty pagent" deal where some some asshole Ref makes a knee-jerk call just because some kid go's down hard... BUT! i have a question, and maybe its a stupid one, but Targeting, if they pick up the Targeting, its still a personal foul, but if they pick it up, why is it a foul at all, that makes no sense
@jovetj
@jovetj 6 лет назад
I believe "pick up" is a metaphor for picking up the official's flag off of the field....meaning that the call for a penalty is annulled or withdrawn. He was given a penalty for targeting a defenseless player. (Unjustly, in my opinion-he wasn't looking where he was going, and they both collided and went down.) The officials also took time out to consider whether he had committed targeting, but decided he didn't. If he had, he would have been disqualified.

I don't wear glasses. I have normal vision. I am not jaded or angry, and I'm not even a fanatic. I enjoy seeing the team win well, but my life doesn't revolve around it. Nebraska could lose every game this year and I wouldn't care. It's year one. As long as they correct mistakes and improve, I will be happy. As long as they show class, I will be proud. I normally don't seek out press-conference videos but this one was good to see. Maybe you weren't paying attention? Both teams weren't very good. Nebraska had more streaks of brilliance than Colorado did. Colorado somehow managed to miss more field goals than Nebraska did. There was some abyssal battery (sure couldn't be called tackling), and CU's offensive line flapped in the breeze more than it didn't. Nebraska's team put itself in the position of not winning that game, and Colorado's team put itself in the position of barely winning it.

A better sportsman would have given some credit to Colorado who made plays when necessary and under pressure to win in a hostile environment.. Here is a hint: Start out by saying "Credit to Colorado for a well played game".. then go to your "we lost the game vs. them winning it" which is ultimately sour grapes. The "woulda, Coulda, Shoulda" posts here are always accurate, but hind sight and not relevant @ nothing but bluster. "We were a better team if we had only done this and that", etc, yada,yadda, yadda. You had the chance and did not execute. CU did when it counted. Accept it, learn from it and move on. Cu's QB was awesome under pressure and their wide out is first round draft pick. Martinez's health is obviously critical. If he does not go, Huskers are in trouble. Frost's Oregon offense with the many QB runs risks your QB's health and that is why many teams don't run it, they want to protect their franchise QB. Oregon won 9 in a row back in the day, then Dennis Dixon got hurt and they lost the next 4. Oregon was up by 30 against TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, QB got hurt and TCA came back for the late win. Just saying. Final thought, scheduling the ZIPS is an insult to the program. Gee, the "Bugeaters beat the ZIPS!" is that really the headline you want? Have some balls and schedule strong if you want street cred.

Robert Carter Here’s a hint Colorado and Nebraska don’t like each other! Start with that then you will realize why the coach of Colorado said better caught dead then wearing red! @jovetj
@jovetj 6 лет назад
This press conference is not to talk about what Colorado did. It's to talk about what Nebraska did. It has nothing to do with sportsmanship or "credit where due"... it's the coach's prompted reactions to the team's performance. Colorado is not a good team. Nebraska was not a good team on Saturday. But they were better than they have been the past 3-4+ years. You have no idea what you're talking about. Our schedule is one of the most difficult in the country this year. And Nebraska hasn't been known as the Bugeaters for over 100 years. Get with the times, for they are a'changin!

A “decent team” whipped the Corn Huskers on their home field. Now they are reeling all the running up of the scores from the Osborne years. Could not happen to a better program. Enjoy the winless season as the “decent” Colorado team goes to a major bowl this year. The past doesn’t matter Cornhusker fans....what have you done today.

Well the way i see it . we finally got the right couch in Mr frost , and we still have some tough teams ahead of us and we will probably lose a few more this year .we will be fine, we finally have the right man for the job just give him some time and you will see .he will turn this team and program around and get us back where Nebraska belongs .NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS .GO HUSKERS .

The more you tell us to get rid of our coach and "do what you're doing" the more it shows your insecurity. If I were you, I, too, would be jealous of the role model that Nebraska players and fans have in Coach Frost. I certainly hope that Coach Meyer doesn't decide he's in ill health again during his suspension, and leave your program-that would be a devastating blow to you and your ego. Having been very successful in the past, we know what it takes to get there and what we can achieve. We also know how to act when _we do_ get there. Perhaps you can take a lesson from that.

*BeastMode97996* Hash tags are stupid, and are a passive-aggressive way of stating something to be correct. If your coach "did nothing wrong" why was he suspended? Was he just the wrong coach at the wrong time? LOL You can talk all the trash you want, we're all just laughing at you.

His demeanor in this video was like he was told he's going to be fired from Nebraska. Well at least we know he absolutely hates losing. Hope to not see too many situations in the future where he has to be so down. Hope we win good

First year head coach at this school, True Freshman quarterback, very young team, they need some time, won't be great after one game.

Suprajdmxxx a 20 yr rebuild isn't a rebuild. This program has permanently lost it's swagger. Should never of forced out Coach Osbourne prematurely or his predecessor Sollich. This program as never been the same since it all starts with great coaching first and foremost and that feels like forever ago.

Mark Anderson while I do agree with we shouldn't have gotten rid of sollich, since then we have had bad coaching, we got the 2017 coach of the year, mark my words Nebraska will be back in the coming years.

Blah blah blah.... Same old talk from a new coach, 2 days ago you said the players are as ready as they're gonna be, I guess coaches failed to get them ready as they needed to be.... Dumb mistakes and some dumb coaching calls.... :-/
@jovetj
@jovetj 6 лет назад
Practice and game time are two different environments. Lots of unknowns and "who knows" for inexperience players. Players who were denied their "free" game the previous week. The whole point of coaching is knowing how the players can improve and wisely guiding them to do so. This is game one for a new coach with a new system with a bunch of young players. Of course there are dumb mistakes. Stop acting like it's game 11 or 27.
@cliffdivingmonkeys8430
@cliffdivingmonkeys8430 6 лет назад
@@jovetj I understand that, but discipline can be taught and coached, going for 2 fourth downs and not converting them is a bad coaching decision, punt it and pin them deep, they still had the lead at that point... Play calling in key situations was highly questionable, coaches saying 2 days prior to game that they are ready, ready as they're going to be... Great coaches find a way to win those games, that's all I'm saying..... :-/
