Cinnamon: Suppresses Appetite- Cinnamon has the unique ability to imitate the activity of insulin in the body - an ingredient in cinnamon, a water-soluble polyphenol compound called methylhydroxy chalcone polymer (MHCP), mimics insulin, activates its receptor, and works synergistically with insulin in cells. Insulin affects the ventral tegmental area (VTA) of the brain that responsible for reward-seeking behavior and overeating - Insulin dulls the synapses in this region of the brain and decreases our interest in seeking out food, which in turn causes us to feel less hungry. Stimulates Glutathione Production- Cinnamaldehyde, cinnamon’s main component, acts as a powerful antioxidant - activates Nrf2, Nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2) Nrf2 produces two of the most important steps in creating glutathione: Glutamate-cysteine ligase, catalytic (Gclc) and glutamate-cysteine ligase modifier (GCLM), which bind together to form glutathione. Nutmeg: Cognitive Function- Nutmeg contains macelignan, which can reduce the degradation of neural pathways in the brain - been found to impede the reduction in cognitive function that is commonly associated with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Insomnia- Has a high content of magnesium, an essential mineral in the body that reduces nerve tension, and even stimulates the release of serotonin which creates a feeling of relaxation or sedation - serotonin is changed to melatonin in the brain, which is a sleep inducer. Ginger: Ginger contains gingerol, a natural appetite suppressant. Gingerol increases the body’s levels of leptin by simulating the release of it - Leptin is a hormone that regulates hunger and controls satiety. Ginger also reduces weight by suppressing cortisol production. Cortisol is a hormone produced during times of stress and can contribute to hunger, which causes the body to store fat. Study: A 2012 study published in the journal Metabolism examined the effects of ginger on a small group of men, ages ranged from 19 to 50. Found that those who consumed 2 grams of ginger powder after meals had reduced feelings of hunger for up to 6 hours after - Also ate an average of 47 fewer calories than non-ginger days (5) Cloves: Antimicrobial and antifungal properties- Cloves contain eugenol, a phenylpropene, that is commonly used by dentists because it is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory - fights bacteria and inhibits the growth of many fungi, including Candida albicans. Eugenol is a very powerful fat-soluble antioxidant, inhibiting the accumulation of fat peroxide products in red blood cells and maintaining the activities of the body’s antioxidant enzymes at normal levels - eugenol can be directly incorporated into cell membranes, which prevents lipid peroxidation right in place. I've found that I don't need coconut oil and a sweetener. For me it's one or the other. However, I don't like the coconut oil floating on the top, so I give it a whiz with my stick blender, works like a champ! My spiced chai comes with all those spices in the tea bag! Great video! One suggestion, can you write down the list or recipe in the information section? I had to watch the video a lot of times and skim through it to find the ingredients. e.g., Organic coconut oil - I couldn't tell from my phone if it was unrefined or refined. Hope this feedback helps. If you do this now, well, disregard, I've just been catching up on your videos! Awesome videos, you're amazing! You've helped me sooo much with this KETO diet and love how informational/science oriented your videos are.

THIS is one awesome drink. I use some real Ginger and dice it up to steep with TEA. Since I have all the other(pumkin spice) ingredients in bulk I start adding it in equal amounts. Pinch of salt, once the temperature drops I'll mix the salt swirling the jar until dissolved. Then, I add the honey and acv. I use a 2 cup jar. I may end up buying the pumpkin spice in the one pound bulk bag by Frontier and just adding a quarter teaspoon of cloves and nutmeg in addition to.

Question that goes with this video: I've been putting cinnamon and ground ginger in my coffee for months now but which way is more beneficial: sprinkling directly into my hot drink and blending (this leaves grounds at the bottom of the cup after settling) OR adding the spices to the filter with the coffee grounds (which I just started doing recently to avoid the grounds in the bottom of the cup)? Or does it not even matter? Thanks and best wishes for you and the new baby!!

Add the spices to your tea and stir/swirl frequently as you are drinking so that there is minimal settling.

I tried this tonight, but didn't care for how the spice kept separating from the liquid, even though I tried blending it. By adding a TBSP of whipping cream, I was able to emulsify it and it's much better.

The mixture of turmeric and raw honey is a natural antibiotic that you will not become resistant to. if you put in 4 oz of raw honey into my tonic. Which I take 3 tablespoons of 2 in the morning 1 in the afternoon. Always with warm water first. 1 tablespoons is roughly 5 G. 3 tablespoons of liquid equals 1 oz

I have a Tbsp of Bragg's Raw Apple Cider Vinegar each day. I don't like any kind of vinegar so I put it in a 10 oz glass of flavored Propel. It masks the vinegar taste and also supplies a load of beneficial nutrients including a hefty dose of Niacin. Your pumpkin tea sounds great, though and will try it before my strength training workouts (free weights, Total Gym, door pullup bar). I'm 71 and in better shape than ever. Even put on some muscle! LoL

Another benefit of the ground close straight for those of us who smoke not cigarettes Fred when we wake up in the morning sometimes we might be a little congested. Round clothes will clear up your sinuses and help open up your throat and passageways breeding passageways.

Hey Thomas! Congrats on the new baby! I've been following you for awhile now and I'm very grateful for all your tips! I was wondering if you could do a video specifically on gaining muscle with keto and IF. I'm already fairly lean following low carb/keto with intermittent fasting. But how do I gain muscle if I'm not supposed to have too much protein? Should I incorporate carbs and if so how much and when? Thanks again for all the knowledge you drop in us!! You should be fine with a moderate protein intake and a calorie surplus, though you might benefit from the Cyclical Keto Diet (CKD) which is a variation of Keto that helps you build muscle. Basically, you eat a strict Keto diet for 5-6 days, then you add in 1-2 "Refeed" days where you add in carbohydrates. This helps maximize muscle gains while also keeping you lean. This is not delicious. But it’s not horrible. Somewhere in between. It makes me feel like I’m being good to myself drinking it. And another benefit is I spilled some coconut oil on the outside of my cup, so I rubbed it on my hands. Now my hand feel soft.

Hey Thomas, I'm 65 yrs and waaay out of shape. I'm 233 lbs.and looking for some ways to improve my health.. That's how I came across your channel. I'm going to take some of your advise and hope to lose some weight . I can't even begin to workout like you do, a I'm pretty sure it would kill me, or at least hurt more than I can bear. Can you suggest some low impact fast weight loss exercises that will work for an old out of shape man like me

Coconut oil raised my cholesterol a while back so I came off of it and it was back to normal. Guess it doesn't do well with me.

Thomas.. Can you do a video on sugar-free and sugarless gum. I chew gum. I chew a lot of gum. I am doing IF and noticed that I was not seeing the results that I should see. I also do ketosis and was having a hard time figuring out why my ketones were low on my testing strips. WE NEED a comprehensive review on CHEWING GUM. When doing a diet or changing your way of eating to IF, everything that helps you thru the day, no matter how small, becomes important to you. I know you will science the sh!t out of it and PLEASE DO, give suggestions of what we can use instead of gum to help us get thru the day until we break our fast or have a meal. Thanks.. I hope you read this and give us a good video.

I just bought some pur gum, like it so far. It does have xylitol, which has a GI of 13, so not appropriate while fasting, but otherwise ok.

This sounds almost as good as my pumpkin protein shake which is a third of a can of pumpkin, whey protein(gold standard cookies and cream for example), a half teaspoon of pumkin spice, ice, and coconut milk..

I'm guessing that the type of cinnamon determines how much of a benefit you really get in your body. It wouldn't be the inexpensive kind you can commonly get anywhere; of course, it would have to be organic at least, and therefore cost more and be harder to find. That drink ought to taste good!

Hi Thomas. I am not fat, just doing keto and fasting for health. I am doing well on the keto diet, excellent blood work results. High cholesterol and high LDL, which is to be expected, but HDL and triglycerides (and everything else) was splendid! Now my question. It's about fasting. I heard Siim say that he sips on water only when thirsty in order not to rid himself of electrolytes. So, from the moment of the last meal before the fast, should I drink a combo of ACV with lemon juice and turmeric and cayenne and all that to kickstart, and then sip only when thirsty till the end of the fast (unless I urinate, in which case I would replenish electrolytes)? Then, a question to follow up is, should I workout in this fasting period? If so, how should I go about it with regard to intensity and consumption? Thank you, Thomas!

Thomas I have a serious question! On Keto do I need to eat my calories according to TDEE? And to lose weight should I subtract a deficit? This is making me crazy. Obviously a calorie deficit will drop weight. But I want to burn fat! I cut calories my macros are 80-15-5 carbs I’m 5’7” and 166 lbs. Since I started calorie cutting my levl meter is testing lower than ever. I’m dropping lbs but I do not think it’s fat. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Awesome Can you make a video of a day of keto meals? I’ve been eating eggs broccoli grass fed meat for weeks. Need some fresh ideas. Getting all my nutrients in from additional dietary foods. Need some revamped MEALS. Thanks for your consideration.

Try some high omega 3 fat foods, fish is one of them make sure it's wild caught. Mackerel, sardines look up ketogenic Bible in Amazon it has some great recipes.

If you don't want to mess with the raw tumeric because it is messy. By the way tumeric at Asian market is very very very cheap. You could use turmeric tea bags Tulsi makes a brand that I prefer I feel it has more tumeric and it's in the other teas and I like the way it tastes that would be a good idea to add to this drink you're doing but I would wait for the drink to start to cool down before you add the apple cider vinegar. The important part about the Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar is the mother again hate will kill the probiotics what killed the mother

Hey Thomas I am drinking clean water with ACV cinnamon and a good dose of MCT oil what are your thinks on that? I’m preparing my body for a cleanse/ 2 day fast in a few days time as I choose to give Keto a go and see how my body responds.

I would just substitute the coconut oil for some almond milk and then eat some walnuts along with this drink.

Matcha is better in a lot of ways, but keep in mind that since it's so concentrated it also has a lot of caffeine, so if you're not trying to get hooked, don't have it every day

Hey Thomas. What if I just have 1-2 Tbsp's of Apple Cidar Vinegar & 1 Tbsp of MCT oil together. Could these 2 ingredients communicate to our brain to burn fat? I'm asking because I just recently had that & it's night time. I will definitely have to try the drink you shared in the near future. Thanks in advance if you would be so kind to answer that for me.
