@@CeceXie @Cece Xie 6 questions for you. 1. Is your book almost finished? 2. Can you still speak Chinese 3. which Chinese language can you speak? 4. Can you write Chinese by hand? 5. Which Chinese characters do you like to type: simplified or traditional?; 6. Will you write a Chinese language edition of your book? If you do this many people in Asia will be interested in an American lawyers life. If the book sells well in Asia, you will become a millionaire overnight. I guess they'll buy the ebook version in simplified Chinese (China, Singapore and Malaysia). Here is a link to a video about how obsessed people can be in Asia to get ahead. Nor was it simply a matter of money. Many were also bound by chains of status. They believed that you were either "on the track" or not. If you weren't a banker, a consultant, or a lawyer at a big-name firm, you would be seen as a loser by your parents, or worse, by the people you went to college with. No one would want to marry you. . . Such thinking was less prevalent among those associates who came from wealthy, long-established families. On a presumably unconscious level, the firm understood this, and therefore recruited heavily from among those who were the first in their families to go to college. It wasn't just that lawyers from the outer boroughs were hungrier. Being associated with a famous name meant more to them. It was a bigger part of who they were. In terms of leverage, it gave the firm an extra twist of the wrench.

@@CeceXie Watching on a smartphone, at this scale, I rely on arm gestures, maybe shrugged shoulders, to pick up emphasis, but I don't pick up much facial expression. It's surprising what a portion of podcasts I consume on RU-vid via video and not by purely audio (or audio + cover art episode poster) mode.
