In this video I talk about what happens when you're at BMT & Tech school during the holidays. During Basic Training You will not be given the privilege to go home and enjoy the holidays because you're in non stop training. Once you hit tech school it will be very similar except for Christmas when you get EXODUS which allows you to go home for 2 weeks and spend time with your family and friends.

Air Force Exodus does subtract from your current leave if you choose to go home and spend time with your family. So if you’re given exodus it will be deducted from your leave. There was confusion when it was being discussed during tech school. So correction Exodus leave does get subtracted from your leave!

I do have one correction to this video. Nick said that you get two weeks off for exodus where you aren't charged leave. This is incorrect. You are in fact charged leave during those two weeks if you go home. If you choose to stay you will do details the whole 2 weeks during the weekdays but not on the holiday itself. But if you choose to go home, it is not free vacation time. You will be charged those 2 weeks for leave.

@@jadadenise9766 no you can still take the whole exodus I was just briefed on this a few days ago but you take exodus and it puts you in the hole for negative leave so you will just have to work to get back to positive leave it’s not bad at all but it also depends I’m active but reserves and guard are different you would have to contact your guard/reserve laissez-on about that. Hope this helps but talk to your MTL they should have more information.

I went home once during Labor Day weekend. A round-trip flight & a bus to & from Chicago was about $125.00 back in 81. The base had its own travel agency.

I was at Keesler AFB April to July 1970. Memorial day and July 4 holidays were three-day weekends. Those who could afford it were permitted to go home for the weekend. Fly out Friday, return Monday; and it didn't count as leave. Those were the fastest 72 hours.

I’m at Sheppard AFB and for exodus here you get 16 days but it takes from your leave if you’re going home. It also doesn’t add two weeks to our graduation time, We graduate at the same time as we would have but we also have been getting a lot more work/schooling then we would of had originally.

Wow well I guess that a positive and a negative I know here a lot of peoples graduation times got delayed by 2 weeks but that’s probably because we are in trainings of 6 months probably.

Life on base during corona virus isn’t to amazing there is some stuff to do on base like bowling, movie theater and working out not a tremendous amount of stuff on base where I’m at Bc I’m still in training. But since you’re married and have kids after tech school You will not have to live on base. I’ll be putting out a video on the base and everything there is to do here in the next week or 2, stay tuned!

how long does it actually take to go to bmt. From when you first contact your Recruiter. Can you choose what day you go or it is assigned to you?

It is different for everyone depending on the jobs you pick and the jobs that are available. I would say from when they send you too MEPs you will usually wait a month or 2 for a job, and usually about 2 months for a ship date after that. You can choose a date at which you are willing to leave after, I believe, but no you can not specifically choose a day to leave.

@@stitch4324 so I’ll try to explain it as I’m currently at BMT in quarantine. Sadly Covid tested. Your recruiter will send you to MEPS before MEPS you tell him you want to do the delayed entry program. What this entails is you will go to MEPS if everything goes smoothly, you will pick a top 10 list for jobs. They will try to get you the top 2 on your list if possible but guarantee one of the ten. Then you will wait. They will ask that same week when would you like to ship within the year from your day at MEPS, you have full decision for this. He’ll show you the ship dates and what has changed or hasn’t changed. You’ll then you Ship out on that with one of the jobs on your list. You’ll head back to MEPS the day you leave. I hate MEPS with a passion. I just do. I always get sick their because I don’t eat or drink water until they weigh me in and fast too long and it makes me lightheaded and brings down my immune system. Haha. But besides that I’m at BMT now.

Watch your 'hands only' without sound sometime. They have set memorizing movements (like marching) or aircraft taxi directions. Not to be mean, its just constant unique motion that captures my attention vs. the info u share. just FYI. Im worse, I can tell stories but Im too concerned w/my appearance on video. 😮

Ours was a 30 minute self paced run, it’s a slow jog or as fast as you can go. Just no walking.

@@arlenesalvador6565 probably won’t for thanksgiving, but there is a chance for Christmas time based on it her base will be doing exodus. I would say it’s likely that you will see her for Christmas if she’s in tech school but can’t say for certain.
