A few ways of playing the start, I play it on the open A string then the D string, but I believe Billy Duffy actually plays it on the open A and the G string 2nd fret to an open G - I've played both on the cover.
It then goes from A to G, then A to C during the chorus bit.
Clean guitar break is a simple A (open B string) to C to G
