Holosun 508T X2 vs 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan

After running Trijicons for years, our instructor group has moved to Holosun on our instructor pistols and EDCs. I agree with you regarding the RMR dot and astigmatisms.

primary arms needs to make the Vulcan in 508T green dot, and also the 515 green dot

For the elderly, disabled or someone who just can’t get the reps in the ACSS reticle is a huge help. It looks s the only reticle I would mount on my parents handguns.

New to shooting and I just found out that I have an astigmatism. My next optic will absolutely be a green dot. One thing I have learned for me is the smaller the dot (>3.25 moa) is a lot sharper. I can also say any prism/scope that has an etched reticle is a game changer. Great video!

I tried the Trijicon RMR and, although I liked it, the Holosuns have so many additional features that i was attracted to. But I was torn between the 507C and the 508T. Watching this video helped solidify my choice. I went with the 508T as well. Great choice, and great video.

Right here with you on the astigmatism. Some red dots don’t work at all for me but holosun works incredibly good! Before my Holosun I bought a Trijicon RMR and returned it almost immediately. It was all kinds of funky looking through that thing! I couldn’t do it. Great video!! Thank you, sir!!

Outstanding video. All the information I needed and none that I did not. Was debating between these two to mount to an RS Regulate mount for the AK. Was worried about retaining the reticle within the window under 7.62x39 recoil. I’m confident now I do not need the ACSS. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for this comparison. Just ordered a 508T based on this comparison. Aesthetically, I think the 508T looks amazing. Although it would be nice to have a Vulcan reticle on the 508T, but practicong draws/target acquisition daily even without shooting helps a ton as always training is the key. Great to see a new upload from you! I bought the 507c x2 acss in red straight from primary arms(great company by the way I felt like a made an investment buying my optics from them due to their great customer service). I was worried my eyes were just going to see a blop of a red chevron but after training with it for awhile now my eyes seem to have adjusted themselves to the optic. The chevron gets sharper looking the more I train and put time into it

Good detailed presentation . I like the 508T X2 better for all the reasons you pointed out, but also because I'm not a big fan of sights with bright white writing on them.

Great review. Ordered the 507C X2 ACSS Vulcan in green. Wanted the chevron reticle.

I have been debating these two exact optics, down to the reticle. Went with the 508t green version and couldn’t be happier. Also I like the blockier style of the 508t on a blockier gun like my Glock. Next probably doing a 507K on my hk p2000

You produced an exceptionally well done video review. Please don’t take this next thing wrong. I was watching this while extremely sleepy and the gentleness of your voice put me to sleep four or five times. The video itself however it was so important to me that each time I backed it up to what I had last remembered and continued watching until I made my way through it and reviewed several sections over again. For me I think the circle dot is the best solution. I intend to Target shoot primarily with my new Sig P322 at an indoor range and I may from time to time compete with it. I have pretty serious astigmatism so the green should be a great benefit to me. Most of my use with this pistol will be from 10 to 25 yards shooting primarily paper targets. I have a much more serious 22 pistol that I will be shooting at anywhere from 25 yards to 150 yards. It is a Smith & Wesson model 41 Performance Ctr. 22 long rifle. It comes with a Picatinny rail already mounted and I’m debating on what type of optic I want to use on that. But for now I think the 508 T X2 you showed meets my needs. Now just to see whether I can find it on sale somewhere. thanks much for your excellent review!

Great video! I am really surprised Trijicon didn't team up with PA and get the ACSS in their RMR they do have a ACOG with a ACSS reticle so there was already a business relationship there maybe they couldn't agree on licensing fees who knows. Holosun has come a long way I used to think of them as cheap and only something you would put on an Airsoft gun, but I now have them on two of my SD Glocks.

Great review. I went with the HE509-RD ACSS Vulcan ACSS enclosed optic. You either have a great mic or a great voice.

I subscribed because of your clear and concise presentation. You showed every detail of the red dots, most reviews i have seen only showed one or 2 angles and poor views of the reticle. You did a great job showing the things i wanted to see.

Sometimes battery life can surprise you. I have a 6 cell mag light that i got when i was in a security job in 1996, t had changed my incandescent light to a single LED lamp. I just changed the batteries this year (2022). That is amazing battery life!

Great review! I'm subscribing. I tried the 507C for over a year and in 4 or 5 pistol classes, and I can't stand the chevron. I love the outer circle! I love it so much I tried for a year, but that freaking chevron is stupid. I know a lot of people like it, so it's on me, but if HS would make a version of that optic with a dot instead of the chevron, I'd put one on ever pistol I own. That outer circle is the most helpful device for new RDS shooters, and for anyone in a high intensity situation, it's a golden idea that I hope other companies get to start using because it seem HS is unwilling to put it on an optic without the chevron. I know the chevron is for distance shooting, but how many times will you really be shooting a pistol at 50 -100 yards, and how many of you don't think you could do it without the chevron? The place I do most of my training has their pistol distance targets between 175 - 250 yards, and I shoot those just fine with an regular dot. I wish I loved the chevron as much as some, but I don't like it at all and I"m giving it to my brother. Anyway, great review! Thanks!

Neat video! Ordered a Holosun 507K GR for my Glock 17. Should be arriving tomorrow. Can't wait! Every pistol I've owned or even shot in the past had irons only so I'm excited to upgrade and see what difference it makes.

I wish holosun would release fully customizable and scalable reticles. especially with handguns, having the sight further away from your eye increases the reticle size relative to the window and can make it slightly more difficult to quickly acquire and maintain

I purchased my first holosun a few weeks ago and it's the same for me. I have a few others brother starbursty but for whatever reason the hollison is a lot more crisp with my stigmatism great review. I'm looking at buying another one for my 22 pistol build

Thank you so much for this review, it helped me to decide that I will put in my OWN CHEAT CODE. I currently run the 510C green as my primary with a Holosun HM3XT magnifier. Now I will run the 507C green as a secondary in an offset mount! best of both worlds!!

I put the Vulcan on my wifes carry because she does not train as often as me. It really is awesome! I wish they would put the guts of it into the 508t! I have the 508 on my carry and love it. I put the trl8 on my in-home defense firearm because of that grogginess you spoke of! It works so good for those close range encounters!

Nice Review! I just wanted to state that the 50k h of the 508 are just valid for dot-only-mode. If you run the circle or circle+dot it will reduce to about 20k h like the 507 ACSS Vulcan (where you cannot switch off the circle for reason). You know, the one thing I always wonder with Holosun is, why they put all the great Primary Arms reticles only in older models. When Holosun introduced the 508 they stated the rectangular top shape was chosen for increased toughness. Why should I not want that? I do not want to have to choose between a great reticle and advanced features that are common in other optics of that or a similar product line. Same with the 503 ACSS CQB. If I get a 503 I want the solar capabilities (running without battery, autoadjusting brightnes, ...). Guess what? I have to choose: solar or ACCS. If everybody is hyped about enclosed emitters, why not offer the ACSS Vulcan in a 509 or EPS? Maybe it's easy/cheap to change the reticle, so they can get rid of their stocked older models... I don't know. But if it where easy and cheap they just would offer free reticle choice for all their models. Nevertheless they're making great optics for really reasonable prices.

Hey, @KingDOM Collective, consider this about the "round-top" of the 507c vs the square view (think: "flat-top") of the 508T... When relying primarily on solar energy, (which could happen in the field or on the street, but way more likely in the field if you're an operator and you've been out for a long time on a mission using your sights without an opportunity to replace your batteries)...the flat top of the 508T puts all the little solar cells in a single orientation angle toward whatever light source you might have available at any moment, while the rounded top of the 507c angles each pair of cells out toward the sky at slightly varying angles. What I imagine this does in a real-world performance scenario, is that, with the flat top, if your weapon, being pointed toward your intended target, places the solar cells directly toward the sun and your battery has died or is getting weak, you will get good performance from the solar cells to make up the needed power to the LED. But if your aim-to-target places your solar cells at a less then optimal angle toward the sun (or any available light source), you are likely to get poor performance and therefore poor illumination of the reticle or dot. Also if you're moving, you are likely to get changing performance as you move and your angle changes. Such changes in performance might, at times be way sub-par for your aiming needs in some circumstances. But, if you have the 507c, and your battery is getting weak (or dies), and you are moving about, the rounded surface that the solar cells are mounted to provides a situation in which, regardless of how you move about, as long as your gun is oriented anywhere within about a 90 degree range from perpendicular to the light source, you are likely to get approximately similar illuminative performance from the LED. Reducing the tendency to create a wildly shifting illumination level of the LED could be the difference between being able to count on a given illumination level (even if it is less than you would ideally prefer), and therefore be less distracting from your mental focus on your target, could be the difference between making a life-or-death shot, or not making it. I have no clue if this was Holosun's intent of the rounded-top design or not, but I noticed, as you were displaying the two sights, that this extreme change in reflectivity of the tops of the sights was occurring, and that this would match the available light to the cells (since roof-top PV panels are so sensitive to this voltage drop phenomenon).

I’m about to buy my first 2011, a Staccato C2 and I’m going to mount the Holosun 507c with the Primary Arms Chevron in green. I have an astigmatism issue as well, but being also an instructor these last 35 years and a competitive shooter for longer than that, I like the ability to use the tip of the chevron for precision shooting where necessary and that the design of the chevron is also a BDC for longer ranges. I think that’s so cool even if I don’t anticipate taking shots at 50 or 100 yards with a 9mm…

Great video! I just ordered 4 of the Holosun 407 CO red dots from Palmetto State Armory for $170 a piece with free shipping. Couldn’t pass up the deal. Construction wise, the 407 and 507 are identical, they just have different reticles.

Nice review! Do both sights come with a picatinny adapter? Also, which would be better for use on a shotgun for target shooting to a maximum range of 50 yards? I'm also considering the 3 MOA Vortex Venom.
