Here is the first part in our 2-part Holosun 507C tryout video series. This is our Item #2791 and it can be found here: www.glockstore.com/Holosun-Red...
For those of you wondering if you trust the shake awake system, let me say this. I didnt even know my sight had it because its so fast and so reliable every time I would pick up the gun it was already on, so I just assumed it never turned off. When I found out my red dot had this feature I didnt believe it. So I laid my gun down horizontally on a table and let it sit for about twenty minutes, I got down and looked through the window without moving it, and god damn if it wasnt off. There was no red dot. And as soon as I even baaaaarely touched it... boom it was on.
@deucedeuce22oz most of the batteries will last up to a year while on full time. The shut off feature is to preserve battery while you're sleeping for example.
@deucedeuce22oz if your carrying it on the body or a purse there will be more than enough movement that it doesnt turn off. It's really just for like the drawer gun while your asleep.
I am a lifetime shooter, I started competing with a pistol 51 yrs ago, but only recently became interested in Glock type pistols, specifically the Polymer 80. I have been watching a lot of your videos to learn more about this while waiting for my parts to arrive. I had found the advantage of red dots several years ago and how they help with aging eyes, I have found your videos to be very informative, including this one with one significant exception, your recommendation to use Red Loctite on the screws. Loctite recommends: 'Loctite Threadlocker Red is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners.' Take note of the reference to permanent, it is really intended to uses where the item won't be taken apart after assembly, but if you have to, here is there recommendation: 'It is only removable once cured by heating up parts to 500°F'. Since you have to remove the red dot to replace the battery, I don't think that red dot could survive the use of high heat to remove it. This is a perfect application for Blue Loctite, the Red would be a poor choice in this situation.
I would appreciate that list. I built my P80 and am having some problems with it I haven't been able to work out. Fails to go into battery when shooting, every shot have to push slide forward about that last 1/8". I think more shooting may solve that. Biggest problem is striker is hitting the primer near the edge, way off center, a few rounds it has taken 3 tries to get some ammo to fire, I have no idea what to do about the way off center primer hits.
That's nothing, I use rocksett on my red dots and even weld them on for extra precaution. This red dot has the battery on the side so you don't have to remove it, the only reason to remove it would be of a malfunctioning red dot.
I'm heading you said something about the red loctite because I thought you were only supposed to use the blue and the red for as you said permanent and thought in order for the red to work you had you apply heat. Any ways I'm just waiting for my torque wrench screw driver to arrive tomorrow and will be putting on a vortex and will be sure to use the blue😉 this is the only video Lenny has made that I wasn't quite sure of. He puts out a lot of good content. Your awesome Lenny I just would stick to the blue loctite my own preference!
@@talega1 I don't advocate for using red. I used blue on all my optics. But, keep in mind, it's going on a slide for a handgun. It can take the heat. I was just explaining the difference between red and blue loctite.
@@bflatmusic8123 I used red once for a front sight...and heating there wasn't a big issue. Then I had a comp in the front of a barrel...now that was a big pain in the A to get off....it was so hot to come off that I used an oven mitt with a wrench and the mitt burned down....now that would melt all the electronics inside the red dot (I guess). And I also had one red dot come off to my face (was just trying it out before using blue) and torque it down.
Lenny, this is a great video. I am on the hunt for a red dot for my Glock 43 and my Glock 20SF long slide. The hunt is fascinating and you are helping. Thanks
ill be needing some work on a gen 4&5 glock 26, my gen 4&5 19, and possibly my competition 34. I've been looking and following many companies but still by far am impressed with every thing you guys and gals can do there!
This guy Lenny McGill is friggin awesome. Not only does he make his explanation easy to understand for even novice shooters, He also makes it sound like it’s coming from just an average guy. Hell this guy sounds like he could be anyones uncle! You could meet him for the 1st time somewhere and in 1 minute you could be talking to him like you’ve know him for years! He’s just that kind of guy. Just one more reason why i like Glocks!
that's pretty impressive for real!!! its just so cool all the stuff you can do and get these days. thanks a lot lenny for your channels, videos etc you've been able to help me with so many decisions on firearms, custom builds, parts, accessories etc. I do greatly appreciate it man. keep up the PHENOMINAL work and again thank you! can't say that enough. I need to come visit the GS next time I go to Cali for vacation👍 be awesome to meet and talk with you in person and see the store. again thank you sir! been great help
I ordered one almost 2 months ago and is expected in August. When they first came out, there was no problem finding them. Holosun's other optics are great too.
Brent Conner same.... ordered one from optics planet over 3 months ago now.... fuckers are never gunna ship out.... but ill wait till they get them in as i got mine for just over 200$ 👌
Man I though I did well with a 280.00 price tag. I think it's worth the wait. Aimpoint and Trijicon better start to take the new companies like Holosun and Atibal. But then again AP. and Trij. most likely content will their sales to the U.S. Military. Both companies make excellent optics but the price point can hurt some Holosun will most likely begin to get the love they deserve from the shooting community. Never had problems with Holosun and Atibal products. Just keep your fingers crossed for Optics Planet to start getting them sometime this July. Holosun has a very good relationship with O.P. From what I can remember O.P. was the first major company to sell Holosun way back. Take care brother and enjoy it when you get it. Brent
wow! they've Definately taken it a step further every time! I need to get one and try it out👍. want to get a trijicon rmr, a vortex viper, and now one of those babies=)
God! Lenny is a great showmen and salesman. There is no one else that could run GS like this man. I have been watching him for years now and not only is he selling you something he is making sure you know the in’s and out’s of sed products. And he loves what he does and cares about the product he is selling you, and in today’s market that is something that is lost...
Good luck getting that off to change the battery... Blue Loctite is strong enough for putting on a sight. If my .460 Rowland won't shake mine loose, your 9mm certainly won't shake a sight loose.
i would never put a red dot on a pistol i dont care what nobody says i know that the speed of the slide will make the red dot jump off of target and then come back on target between each shot i know i had a burris fastfire on my glock 29 10mm i had to take it off and put my amglow sights back on ,so please people quick telling these lies about red dots on pistol they were make for a rifle or shotgun they were not made for a slide
i have never had a rmr before like i said i had a burris and i know wht my slide speed did to it it would keep zero but between each shot the dot would move off the zero and then come back in to zero a second later after the gun was on target ,now if you have a rmr and dont have this problem when you shoot it then i would like to know but i am not going to spend that much money on a red dot if it is going to do the same thing ,i now have a crissiom trace laser grip and i use the tritium and fiber optic sights if i am wrong i would like to know your thoughts wiht your experience
@@19TGR76 i is just limited to the burris and red dots like that ,i have had a chance to shoot a glock 20 10mm at the gun range with a type 2 rmr on it and the red dot did not move off zero at all i was really inpressed with that and i shot a full box of sig ammo with is a full house load ,so i will be getting a rmr for my glock 30 converted to 460 rowland in the next month i dont need it but it makes the gun look cool and you can shoot with both eyes open ,i will be putting me suppressor height sights in the forth of the rmr because i carry mine in a ankle holiser but if you want to get a reddot that will be 100% relivable then the rmr is the way to go ,make sure that you have your slide millied out for a better fit ,if you have any more questions contact me i will be more than glad to answer for you
What in the hell are you talking about? Have you ever used Blue locktite in your life? It's has a break away torque of anywhere between 20-168 lbs.....Hit it with a damn hair dryer and it loosens up to almost nothing... And anyone saying that reflex sights come off pistols either neglected to apply the propped amount of torque during installation or bought an inadequate optic for that particular caliber. They work fine.
Great explanation I'm new to optics, I just got the 507k for my 43x but haven't installed it yet. the slide is out being milled for it. This helps me clear a few things up that i had questions about .
With the 32 moa circle you could also calculate drop at long distance and know exactly where to aim and place the dot to hit your target. If you’re accurate enough....
It's 7075 aircraft aluminum and is bullet proof. Color me wrong if I am but, I believe the battery life is 50k/100k, not 100k/200k. Another person who's reviewed this optic had to edit in a correction. Either way, you won't have to worry about it for a long time. I have the 515, rifle red dot sitting on top of my Hi Power, over-the-slide mount combat pistol, leaving the iron sights unobstructed for immediate, up close engagement or if you took a bullet to your optic and, since the optic isn't mounted to the slide, it doesn't reciprocate. Re-aquisition for following shots is amazing. It is also great for anything out to 100yds. It's a room-clearing, run and gun machine! I'm thinking of putting one of these on that pistol (as well as my Glock) for the sake of weight as the Hi Power (with a rail adapter underneath for a light and the metal, side mounted rail for the optic) is pretty heavy with a full magazine but, that weight tends to mitigate recoil so. It has its advantages. :) For anyone who wants to try this sight without having a special slide, there us a Glock, rear sight dovetail adapter which replaces the rear sight. The mount just slides into the dovetail and has a plate to accept the optic. You won't have a rear sight but you can decide if you really like it red dot before having your slide cut or buying an MOS style pistol. I love mine and I can put other things on it, too, like a laser sight in the rear sight position.
Did you experience any issues with the red dot disappearing while shooting the firearm? Justin Opinion had some red dot issues shooting with the PC9 carbine.
regarding the red loctite, you can get a CA glue remover as well as a little heat and it will come off. I have used red on font sights before, but I prefer NEW tubes of blue for rear sights. Purple is great for mounts, but if it doesn't work for you then I suggest Blue.
So when you say the solar panel will supercede the battery when there is light. Do you mean even if the sight is in battery mode the solar will take over and save the battery? Or do you have to put the sight in to solar mode and that deactivates the battery
Well now that was a interesting video and when I mount my red dots I never use the red because I want to be able to get it off and with the holosun 507c battery is on the bottom and when the battery quits you will need to remove the red dot however it does have the shake awake so it shuts itself off and the battery will last a very long time so it's not going to be anything you have to replace very often but when you need to it's got to come off.
I just purchased a CZ 75 SP-01 not too long ago. So I'm new to handguns. The Holosun 507C really has my attention. I eventually plan to buy a glock in the future as an EDC and might transfer this sight onto it. Would you guys recommend me getting this red dot sight or should I spend the extra $ for a RMR?
I got a pair of screws from Battlewerx. They are the same screws that you would use for the 507c. They were $2.49 per pair (not counting shipping).@Chitsana "CL" Loyha
I have been using Halo Sun red dots for years..They all still work and I like better than Aim point and Eotech because I have about 6 sights for the price of 1 of my aimpoints..
The thing with Aimpoint & Eotech is that they will still be working 15-20 years down the line like the day you bought them when all 6 of the Holosun take a dump one by one. The most important issue that has a very real possibility to me would be the solar panel or cheap Chineese boards or the circuitry failing if god forgive I would need to use the weapon at some point. To be honest I have 1000x more trust in the battery the Holosun uses than the actual product it goes into.
@@Tainomontana You should look at the torture test of the Holosun 510C by the "Alabama Arsenal" channel. It's a pretty great optic. I wouldn't be so sure the Holosun wouldn't be working like a stud 15 or 20 years down the line.
Tried to do business with the glockstore, left them an email asking to please call me back to buy a gun and they never even replied. Great business model Lenny.
Call you to buy a gun? Buddy if you want a gun order it and have it shipped to an ffl? Im sure hes got more important stuff to deal with than calling you back. Hes probably got a list of customers. Quit acting entitled to a phone cll
@@LuisSanchez-dk7ne did I say I wanted him to call me back? I left a message for the glockstore to call me about buying a gun but they didn't care to return my call. Yeah really entitled acting to request a call from the main number on their website.
I have this sight, and I love it, but they only offer 2MOA. I wish they had a 3 or 4 in this model. Or... if they have the tech to change the reticle why not have an adjustable MOA? Just my 2 cents.
I know it’s been awhile since you posted this question, but I also have astigmatism and the red dot on my HS510c looks really clear. When I first turned it on, it did appear really blurry, but then I realized what the problem was. This was my first red dot, so I hadn’t had much experience with them before. I quickly realized that when focusing my eyes on the target I was aiming at, the dot comes clearly into focus, which makes a lot of sense. Before, I was focusing on the dot itself, which is not the correct way of looking at it. You shouldn’t have a problem with the dot as long as you are wearing your glasses or contact lenses.
I like it, then shake on a feature or go to draw on the feature. Takes two seconds maybe 1.5. If you're under a second draw, shake your kit(handgun) before using it. Just a little jingle and it stays on before you're drawing. It would probably go on just by walking around. So beware of that too.
probably best to use blue instead of red unless you plan on never taking the red dot off. The red once cured would need heat to remove it and with the small contact area of those allen head screws i would not want to risk stripping one.
I like the HOLOSUN for several reasons but NOT for the under-base battery compartment. I do not want to take the damn sight of to change the battery. GAK! So I'll probably get it anyway because here in VERY sunny Nevada I need that 32 MOA circle & dot so it does not wash out.
Don't use red. Use blue. You have to heat red to get it off. Problem is, heat and electronics do not mix well. Not sure why he used red, was not wise. I've had many issues with red.
Muy buen video Lenny te felicito, talvez podrías mandarme el link de la página y una sugerencia fuece bueno una traducción al español te seguimos muchos. Sigue así bendiciones amigo. Saludos desde El Salvador 👍
