I'll explain the Jiri prochazka samouraï situation in détail (shout-out to blue eyed samouraï Andy hug , RIP) : Jiri was a young holligan and started Muay Thai to improve his street fighting skills . His coach offered him the book of five rings, strategy book from famous samouraï Myamoto Musashi (undefeated) and since then was inspired from it . He eventually fought in Japan in RIZIN FF where he became popular (build up like continuity of Mirko CRO cop when CROcop was finishing his career in rizin and Bellator. Rizin ff (attempt of recreating legendary organizations pride FC , same CEO Sakakibara, and btw have best MMA gloves in market since pride FC unlike crappy UFC and one FC ). This is when I became a fan of Jiri prochazka , in 2016 with his fight vs Karl Albreksson . Jiri became rizin light heavyweight champion defeating King Mo Lawal (back then the only guy to ko him , 8 years later Pereira ko him for second time of his life). Some japanese fans compared his attitude with Swiss legendary kyokushin karateka and kickboxer (from golden age of heavyweight) Andy hug (1996 K1 WGP champion, and most popular foreign fighter ever in Japan , even more than rampage Jackson, wanderlei Silva, Mauricio, Fedor , Crocop, Don Fry, Coleman etc...) . It was during the golden age of K1 and heavyweight kickboxing/striking +much better than. UFC heavyweight and Glory kickboxing) . Who was Andy Hug ? : He was a finalist in the most prestigious kyokushin karate event , world open (open weight) against kyokushin karate GOAT Shokei Matsui (loss close fight) . (Back then only japanese win until Brazilian legend and K1 finalist vs mark hunt : Francisco filho). Andy hug became popular in karate and later in kickboxing, because of his will to represent karate spirit and his speciallity , the famous axe kick ("kakato Geri") . He died by leukemia after his last fight vs Mirko CROcop , buried in Kyoto with honorific title of SAMOURAÏ. It was big deal on TV news in Japan back then with a big funeral in both Switzerland and in Japan . (Now , from this generation , Bernardo legend from south Africa and Branko cikatic also passed away, RIP) I understand the comparison and Jiri prochazka have a better understanding of these things than Luke Rockhold or casual MMA fans who just want character , and btw he got his green belt in kyokushin karate before this fight . Jiri was fighting long time in Japan (rizin champion) and As popular there , Andy hug (rip) had many nickname in his career ("tetsujin" iron man, "mister karate" , with peter aerts and Ernesto hoost was the only 3 kickboxer who was called "mister K-1") and he was called blue "eyed samouraï" by japanese kickboxing fans. Jiri never claimed to be a samouraï but being inspired by samouraï myamoto Musashi, he already said it when he was fighting in japan. (When fought in UFC did his hair in tribute to Muay Thai fighters as well btw ) . But honestly, if japanese fans called a foreign fighter "blue eyed samouraï " during the 90's , I don't see the problem of calling Jiri prochazka a "samouraï" as well (human samouraï,in rizin some called him the " Czech samouraï" ) . There is no mockery to make , it happened before for one extremely popular fighter in k1 . Jiri is far from being as popular as Andy hug in Japan but some japanese fans compared Jiri prochazka attitude to Andy hug 's attitude and for old school fans it's understandable. Happy to see him win , watch all his fight since 2016, always said he will win when was underrated and not famous, for the first time, I though he would lose to rakic but won like typical Jiri I use to watch. Very happy for the "Czech samouraï" .

i spent 24 minutes and 50 seconds thinking "if this goes to the end there is NO WAY max does his point at the floor and bang it out with justin, that's not the guy you do that with" and he did.... and it was the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. Dana in the post fight said that the entire arena felt like they were spent after that fight, and i was the same, completely drained. the next two fights were fine, but i don't think i could muster the appropriate level of engagement for them, after the BMF fight i needed a smoke, a sandwich, and a nap.

Tom vs Alex is scary

Alex left hook remind me of Mirko Crocop left kick. In his prime (from late 90s to lid 2000's) , CROcop left kick was really scary at some point in golden age K1 and in MMA . He did a lot of damage in both sports with his kick and was the first elite kickboxers (K1 top fighters) to adapt in MMA and it was scary back then. Crocop and Alistair overeem are one of only fighters to have prestigious titles in MMA and kickboxing. Now there is Alex Pereira. " Right hook hospital, left hook cemetery " old fan know where this joke is from .

As someone who has been watching this sport for nearly 20 years! This was it, this was the best mma show of all time. Being a teenager and watching the first season of the ultimate fighter on spikeTV, to where we are now. It’s only going up, no matter what kind of a fan you are of mma. Every one of us won last night.

Big improvement from UFC 200 thats for sure. Nobody poppin for steroids, no canceled fights, no last minute replacements, nobody missed weight. Was a great card man.

Ufc 300 was legendary. I was one of those assholes thinking this card wasn’t that impressive for UFC 300 and I’m so glad they proved me wrong.

Watching rakic get slowly melted by "a fake samurai" was extremely satisfying

Tom is probably the only guy who could avoid Alex's death touch and still either put him away or be a complete enough MMA fighter to finish it or win on the decisions. But yes, the Max fight was insane, and made that belt mean something by calling Justin to the center, gave him a chance to turn it around, but showed why it wasnt a fluke by ending it on his side of things. Just nuts. Craziest finish, fight, everything ive seen in a long time, maybe ever.

I didn't even drink and I felt hungover in the morning. The energy dump during the entire card was crazy, stayed up 4 hours after the fights ended I was so hyped (6am my time)
