i clearly point out 3 issues, with the recent combat patrols, lack of value, lack of new models, lack of vehicles... they fixed 2 of the 3 issues, in a single box. so is it perfect, no, but is it moving in the right direction? F**K YES! i'll take it.

As much as I would love for GW to add in a center piece vehicle/monster into combat patrols, I think that ship has sailed. Combat patrols are supposed to be a relatively balanced box where 2 new people can pick up a box and play against each other and have an expectation that it'll be a close game. Since 10th seems to be balanced around tanks and anti tank units, adding in vehicles to later boxes would mess with older ones. I actually think that this box is good in every other aspect (model count, units/character in the box, value, etc.) let's just hope that 11th boxes will add in a center piece vehicle (but I won't hold my breath).

i dont think they are ugly at all. the only issue is the lack of wings. i think you're just listening to what other people said, and repeating it. look at a picture of the new sang guard, and a picture of the old ones, side by side. you'll realize you're just being an NPC, repeating what you heard, as if its true.

@@WarHammerMan I do completely believe the mask sculpts are a step down from previous and especially compared to stormcast models which have similar sculpted face like masks. I’ll agree that maybe dull is a better word to describe them but the complete lack of care shown in them by GW is what makes them ugly to me.

based on what metrics is it now good? i lay out the value, composition, and its almost all new models/kits. so just because you have a lot of assault intercessors its bad? sounds like your feelings are all that you're taking into account, not actual metrics. this is a good box, pairs well with the army box, and is exactly what you would use in a starting army. so put your feelings aside, and actually think, you'll wake up, and realize this is a good box. how strange to put assault intercessors, who can also be built as death company, in a box for blood angels players... who will be no doubt, using lots of assault intercessors, and death company... what a bad take you have lmfao.

@@WarHammerMan Well, let's look at a few different points of view regarding the value of this new box. As an experienced player, you already have loads of assault intercessors-more than you'll ever need. I play Iron Hands, and even I have 20 of them. Need more? There are so many of these guys being sold on eBay for around 20 bucks per five, or you might be able to get them even cheaper from smn in your local community. A Lieutenant? That doesn't even sound fun. How many of those do you already have? Five? So, you'll only get one unit you really need-the Sanguinary Guard. Is that a good deal? Personally, I don't think any experienced player ever needs to buy a combat patrol box. Ever. But, as a new player-well, you don't have many options if you want to play Combat Patrol. But what will you get? Will it be fun to paint and play with 10 identical intercessors? Just a quick reminder-the previous box included a Librarian, an Impulsor, 5 Primaris Intercessors, 5 Incursors, and 3 Primaris Aggressors. So, my point is that while the new box might be more 'Angelic,' in every other way, it's worse than the previous one. And for the same price.

@@harrydensoro8350 see thats the problem, you think you know what you're talking about but you dont. first off, the assault intercessors you're talking about are the easy to build ones. so sure, you can get them cheaper, but you dont get any of the build options, or any of the sgt options. so no power fist, thunder hammer, or even a power weapon. second the new assault intercessors with upgrade frame, are what builds the new death company. so to you its 10x assault intercessors, but its actually 10x of the new death company. also its not a lieutenant. its the brand new blood angels captain. which is chapter specific, and will include all the weapon options. so again, you're misinformed. as far as the old combat patrol. 1 box builds incursors, or infiltraitors, the entire box is just generic space marines, with the old style upgrade frame. its also less MSRP value than the new box. so i gotta say, this is a more chapter specific box, which is way cooler, and most of your points, were just wrong. so when someone like you looks at the box, with so many misconceptions, its not surprising that you're not impressed. but when you actually look at the box for what it is, all brand new minis (if you see new death company, instead of old intercessors) its a really nice box. but again, if you dont like it, dont buy it, its not for everyone. but the fact of the matter is, every one of your points is factually wrong, this is a good box, for new players, its a good box for experienced players, who want all the new models. its a better MSRP value than the old box, its a better force for combat patrol, its more thematic, and it pairs very well with the new BA launch box. so while i appreciate your comment, now that you know the facts, i'd imagine you're POV is at least slightly changed. cheers

@@WarHammerMan literally nobody is expecting GW models to be a good deal compared to green army men, GW isn't pricing customers out of the hobby, they're pricing themselves slowly out of existence, I gave up on GW when they killed off Fantasy, literally the only thing that made me give them money was Necromunda and that was entirely due to it being the game that brought me into the hobby almost 3 decades ago.

ya i like that idea. i've seen a ton of cool venetari conversions. i like the new jump guys with wings from sigmar, with a couple custodes arm/head swaps. saw this, and it looks good. but more kitbashes the better. cant wait to see what people do with these!

Sorry everybody but I like the new SG way more than the old ones. Those were some of the derpiest models still around. I think the little wing emblems on the grav chutes are pretty bad, but i don't mind that they don't have big wings cause i thought those were pretty bad too😂

say it loud bro. i put up a picture of the old sang guard, next to the new ones, and there is no comparison. the new ones are fire. i'm not a fan of the little winglets, they break off like crazy when you actually transport and play with them, but i'm gonna kitbash my own wings from the new stormcast range, and i think they will be perfect.

based on what your feelings? because i'm taking into account, new models being in the box, value compared to msrp, and viability in actual game play, as well as compatibility with the launch box. all of those metrics, score this box extremely highly. so what feelings, are you using to rank this as "top worst boxes" compare it to the space marine box, almost zero savings, all ETB models, decent viability in game play, all models included in the leviathan, and starter boxes... by far the worst. so please expand on the metrics you're using to make these statements. anything other than "ma feelings"

@@ishitrealbad3039 its really not though. you can say the prices are too high, and i agree. but using MSRP is a good measure to compare, because it shows it the box actually a good deal, relative to buying the individual models. comparing things to what they used to be, will always leave you disappointed. the fact is. you used to get 5 sang guard in a box, now you will get 3, and likely for the same price... this sucks. but also the old sang guard were trash on the table, and now they will likely be good, and see play. so if thats what it takes to get the golden boys on the table, i'm ok with it. obviously the points cost, to effectiveness in the game couldnt be balanced correctly. they were either too strong in 10 man units, or too expensive in points, for what they did. so having less of them, at a reasonable points cost, with an invulnerable save, is going to make them far more useful in the game. which is what matters. so sure they are more $$, but they wont actually collect dust sitting on a shelf, so IMO thats wayyyyyyy better.

The box is awful I bought a BA start collecting back in the day for £40 that had all BA units in it BA tac squad Baal & termie captain now for £100 you get 2 upgrade sprues purposefully designed & made to inflate the price ass inercessors which aren’t BA & 6 horrible sang guard & a cap gw inflation is just absurd now that they want £100 for that

lol compare the prices of anything 7-10 years, and multiple editions ago to now, of course its more expensive. also compare what those models look like, compared to the new stuff... the old boxes were a good deal, and good models, at the time. the new kits are $60 for a single box, thats why i compare it to MSRP, an actual metric thats relevant, not just my memories, of when things were cheap. the old models are trash compared to the new stuff. you might not like primaris, or spending money, but this is the reality we live in lol

@@WarHammerMan a price inflation of over double is because gw inflate their own prices it’s not reflective to natural inflation they’re also giving you less but charging the same the sang are an awful kit compared to the last kit the only thing they have over the older kit is the scale the majority of people hate the new sang & unlike the inner circle & Templars BA didn’t get the same love with their range refresh & as primaris goes I love the dark angel stuff Templar stuff BA heroes & a few core units but there’s so much 50/50 with primaris it’s either good or utter crap & the sang fall straight into the crap half along with this combat patrol

I'm glad some people like the new CP. I'll personally miss the old one as it held a dear place in my heart. It was the best SM box in the CP lineup and was a great starter box for any SM army with so much variety. I've ran my impulsor in every list since 10th, seriously great value. With it gone, the new Dark Angels CP might be the offical army starter for SM going forward outside of the limited releases.

more than half the box is assault intercessors, of which i'm sure every space marine player already has enough of. So this box def is not aimed at space marine players, because you're essentially overpaying for 6 sanguinary guard (where you already pay overpriced money for). so why is this a good box? I dont see it being a good box for beginners either, atleast not compared to the previous box because atleast that one had a vehicle in it.

lol dude, assault intercessors + upgrade frame = death company.... so sure, you have a lot of assault intercessors, probably the old ETB ones, with no weapon or pose options, but do you have the new death company? no you dont. also impulsors are a dime a dozen, so pretending not having a transport, is a huge miss is laughable. i'd rather have a box full of brand new sculpts, than a transport, and a couple models i'd never use. GW almost never puts new kits into a combat patrol, this box is fire, the actual army will be good in game play, unlike the old trash BA combat patrol which was not thematic at all, and couldn't actually kill anything. take a step back, look at the old box, look at the new box, this is a massive upgrade. these are actual units you will use in a blood angels army, all brand new minis nobody has, instead of a bunch of chapter agnostic models, anybody who plays space marines already has. its crazy to see how many people just see anything, and default to "new thing bad" lmfao BOTS and NPCs galore!

I'd say the actual current best combat patrol out there of the new ones is the Tau Combat Patrol. It has all core units, a building off point, a transport and for some reason I'm not questioning GW threw in the Pathfinder kill team upgrade sprue.

the tau box is pretty good, but doesnt have a ton of value/savings over MSRP. this one is far better in that sense. this one, and the tau box are both very good starting points, and very thematic. i personally would rather have elite jump infantry than a transport. would have rather seen a set of crisis suits, than a devilfish. i actually liked the old tau box with the ghostkeel better, but the current tau box has the commander, so its good. its all subjective. whats good, and whats bad. i just like that GW listened to what people want, chapter specific models, and made the changes. better value, and this is it!

A little odd that the wings were replaced by generic jump packs, as they were a defining feature of the SGs. I guess it's time to kitbash the wings from the Prosecutors on them, should look quite glorious.

ya i agree. this is my only major complaint with the new sang guard. i hate those jump pack fins, they break off like crazy. i def agree, these will look epic, with some of those fancy new prosecutor wings, combined with the single thruster in the middle. similar to the old style, but better with some "minor" modifications!

Deathwatch doesn't have Oath of Moment for the same reason Chaos Space Marines don't have Oath of Moment, it's a different army. The Deathwatch service is a conscription service, like being drafted, working for the Inquisition, that Space Marines, of all chapters, can get consigned to. It should have NEVER been it's own army, it should have ALWAYS been part of the inquisition army. Making it it's own army only caused confusion among new fans and tourists, who legitimately thought the Deathwatch was it's own successor chapter, with specific gene seed.

I wouldn't say this has fixed the discount box issue. There is no centerpiece model for starters. You also have to be a new Blood Angels player to get any value out of this. I am just starting mine with the battleforce box and 2 of these, which will fill out most of my list. However, if you just want Marines at a discount, you aren't getting much.

ya GW removed the big stuff from most combat patrols, to make it more balanced, and a better overall game mode. this is a blood angels CP, which is why its meant for blood angels players. when the DA box came out, everyone complained because it was all generic marines, which is better for GW to sell, but worse for customers. now they make a box thats better for BA players, and the consumer in general, but worse for GW... and here we are, people complaining because its only for BA players. moral of the story is, no matter what, people will just complain. a bunch of grown men, mad that their man barbie boxes arent exactly what they want. its actually pretty funny. i think its great, i'll probably get 2

they used to be 5 or 10 in a squad, but clearly GW has changed that in the new codex. they now come in sets of 3 or you can take a squad of 6. this is much more viable, since they were very points intense before, and the rules were trash. with good rules, and points, they should be much better now. it does suck that the box will likely be the same price in $$ but only 3 models, but thats GW for ya!

I’m going to try and remain positive here but I really do think that the old box is better for a number or reasons. This box doesn’t have much anti-tank value but even though the spears wound most vehicles on 4 due to lance, that’s not very consistent. There’s hope for the sang guard though, maybe 3d printed wing bits and head swaps will make them look good. Overall, great video :)

of course man, i'm all about thinking outside the box. too many people just see or hear something, and parrot it. the ability to essentially use this as a dual purpose kit, because of the inclusion of the upgrade frames makes this far better than it initially appears! but thats the kind of takes you get from me! original, and useful. i'm getting pretty excited for the blood angels, starting to lean that direction, after the extinction of deathwatch. i'm been playing BA for over 30 years, and been waiting for the revival, so far its not perfect, but i'm getting motivated! chaaaaarge indeed!

lol yes i'm very aware they lost oath. i'm in the top 5 worldwide ranked Deathwatch players. its disastrous for the army, and they are basically unplayable unfortunately. GW adding insult to injury, releasing Legends points, with roughly 15-20% points decreases, which should have happened 6 months ago.

Im baffeled anyone can call this good value. Its just 17 mins all monopose. Just because the squads are now 3 doesnt magically make it better value. Its effectively 2 squads and a character in a box for 100 pounds. So much less value than the old start collecting boxes. Just because GW tells you its good value doesnt mean that it is.

lol does it suck that the sang guard went from 5 a box, down to 3? yes it does. but trying to compare prices of a combat patrol to prices of a start collecting box, from like 7 years ago is pretty ridiculous. how much did house prices, food, and gas go up since then? probably about the same. its pathetic i have to reason with people about obvious things. prices are way up on literally everything, its what happens when the money supply goes up by 40%. its called devaluing the currency, its how governments rob purchasing power from the populous without directly taxing them. welcome to 2024. things are more expensive now. Nobody is telling us its a good value, we are comparing it to the individual prices of the kits. if you cant afford GW products, that sucks, and i'm sorry for you. there are tons of other games, and ways to entertain yourself. but at some point you need to understand, prices of GW products only go in one direction. cheers.

@@Grintendo bro. you were buying old stock from games workshop, if thats true. they were discontinued in 2018, GW stopped producing them. starting making the combat patrols in 9th edition. so as they replaced the old start collecting with the new combat patrols they went away. the global money supply went up by 40% in 2020. that means from now on, to eternity, everything will cost 40% more. you call it a rant, i call it reality. you dont have to like it, or even accept it, but you cant change it. those SC boxes were $110. the combat patrols are $168 and have more models in them. so thats roughly 40% increase, just like everything else on planet earth. when you use the term "facts" you're talking about cpi? government statistics, measuring the costs of goods in a made up basket. when i talk about global money supply, i'm talking about the actual amount of currency, chasing the same amount of goods. so maybe you dont understand economics. but if the same amount of goods and services are offered, and suddenly there is 40% more currency chasing those goods... guess what happens. those goods go up by roughly.... drum roll... 40%. i'm not saying i like it, i'm not saying GW prices arent ridiculous. but i'm using actual facts, not statistics compiled by a government or google, designed to specifically understate inflation. and if you dont understand why they would do that, you dont understand politics, YoY inflation data statistics, or the vested interest in government to understate inflation, because of entitlement obligations. but maybe now you can google those things too, and then we can continue the conversation. cheers

I believe this combat patrol will be using the old upgrade sprus. So it would be around 30 bucks instead of 70, so three discount isn’t that high, but still a good box with a really focused collection for the faction. I give it a solid 7/10

its def not. the old upgrade frames, regular and primaris are gone forever. GW would not put the old stuff, thats discontinued in the new box, because then they would have to keep producing it, which would defeat the purpose of the new sprue. you can also look at the pictures, and see the new bits from the upgrade frame on the assault intercessors. check out the sgts backpack its clearly one of the new bits. so the discount is in fact that high, and you do in fact have the option, to build 10x of the new death company if you'd rather them, than just base assault interecessors. so this is basically a box, containing all new miniatures, which is awesome. and like you said, its really focused on chapter specific units, which was lacking in the last space marine boxes. so 7... thats it... come on, its at least an 8, maybe a 9. lol cheers

I was also so very close to typing 8/10, but left it at a 7/10 because I still believe that these sets should include some sort of vehicle with a little bit of power. This would pair very nicely with these sets, and not just infantry. Still nevertheless great set and even better video. Have a great rest of your day!

@@ELCPhotography ya the main reason vehicles are being mostly removed from combat patrols is balance. i also like the idea of including key units, that you will def build a nice core from, and then expanding with a big heavy hitter. i dont mind transports in combat patrol, but including dreadnoughts and battle tanks is just too much to balance. cheers, have a great day!

For a new BA player, like literally just coming into the hobby, this and the new box is probably pretty good. For anyone with a collection not so much. Everyone with any kind of force will be sick to death of Assault Int because everyone has them, and with virtually no weapon options theres no real reason to have many and customise. in BA case even more so because DC now are just AI with a different paint job, both on foot and with JP, and the SG are just a very slightly more ornate jump intercessor (oh and now we get to pay the same for slightly over half the models). After this refresh all our unique units look effectively the same apart from paint, and they they look almost exactly the same as regular primaris/SM versions The captain is okay but did we need a new datsheet for this when it's just and inferno pistol different from a regular captain?

I feel this is a good (even great) box for starting BA players. That said, it's a huge mistake by the GW execs. This box was announced before the BA Captain or Sang Guard are available. So, who is going to buy a BA Captain or Sang Guard box now? They'll just wait for the Combat Patrol and get a big discount. Anyone who buys the Sang Guard box or Captain won't buy the Combat Patrol. Also, this box his hot garbage for any non-Blood Angels player. Most other combat patrols had just the upgrade sprues as 'faction locks', so you could get the contents at at discount. Look at the old BA Combat Patrol; 5 Intercessors, 5 Infiltrators, a Librarian, 3 Aggressors and and Impulsor plus 2 upgrade sprues. Any SM player could buy this and even without the upgrade sprues they're still saving 25%. You could even buy multiples because 2 Librarians aren't too much and you can easily sell extras. The New CP? Completely box locked except for the Assault Intercessors, which are everywhere because GW put them in a launch box that killed the sale of the multipart version. There's literally no reason for anyone other than a BA player to buy this box. While the DA CP box has dumb contents that make no sense in isolation, all the units in the box are useful to SM players in a general sense (aside from the upgrade sprues) and could be bought multiple times, though selling off the Gravis Captain might be tough. It's an imperfect but good SM box in general, it's just not a DA box. So as a result of this decision, GW will sell less BA Captain and Sang Guard boxes than they otherwise might (which aren't sold at a discount), and only sell BA Combat Patrols to Blood Angels players. This really seems like a bad economic decision on their part, but at least the Blood Angels players will benefit from their mistakes. If you're a new BA player, buy 3 of these boxes, turn those Captains into Lieutenants and go nuts, 18 Sang Guard, 30 Assault Intercessors and 3 "captains' and you've got nearly 1500pts.

some of your points are valid, and i've discussed them in the past. as far as the BA box being ideal for BA players you're right, and thats a good thing. when the dark angels CP came out, everyone cried, because it didnt have the DA specific units. now everyone is crying because this one has all the blood angels specific units. it seems like people will just cry regardless... as far as not holding us hostage to get the new minis in a box, and only releasing them individually first, you're right, and thats a good thing. all the stuff you're complaining about, is good stuff. so i'm not really sure what you're complaint is. i guess you're complaining because GW made the changes people wanted, and now you dont like them? i think its a good box, its a good strategy. is it better for GW, probably not, is it better for consumers YES

Even if you throw out the upgrade sprues it's usually a 25% discount (40% once third party discounts apply). The DA Combat Patrol was bad not because it was full of generic SM but because the Gravis Captain had no units to join. It was very boring. If I had my choice I'd have made it a Terminator Squad, Sternguard, Bladeguard and Bladeguard Captain - an inner circle box but with generic SM stuff that anyone could use.

Because you've been asking in the comments the issues with the new sanguinary guard for specifics. First, the sculps look like reused assets from AoS, the heads seem akin to stormcast eternals while the torsos appear to be from the same faction with the body sculpted into pecks and a 6 pack. The backpacks themselves look like jump packs with little wing stabilizers put on leaving the unit to look like a kit bash over a new sculped, this is not helped by them becoming more generic and bland to look at instead of a center piece of an army. Going onto the combat patrol itself, the true value comes from the sanguinary guard since the cut the 5 man packs down to 3 and kept the price and the captain since it is a new sculpt though again what is with the body suit of 6 packs, it just comes off as a lazy asset flip. Then assault intercessors which are used in every BA army since they came out in 9th, I doubt this has any value except to a new player to 40k, at least one that did not start in 9th. Also, in my personal opinion upgrade sheets should not be included into the value for boxes, that just inflates the savings when most people will ignore this, though I guess with this Combat Patrol its harder to do. To compare values the BA box from 9th vs this one, 9th still feels like a better deal. 5 incurssors, 5 intercessors, 3 aggressors, a primaris librarian and impulsor vs 10 Assault, 6 Sang guard and a captain. Though to be fair they are probably around the same value, then again you get a variety of new units and something to do in each phase with the 9th one and mainly melee in the 10th one.

ya i think you make some good points, and i agree with almost all of it. the wings missing from the sang guard, def sucks, and feels lazy in design. plus those stupid flaps break off, if you actually play the game. the wings were great. i also agree it sucks, GW is going down to 3-6 man squads, instead of 5-10. but that being said, they sang guard have sucked for a long time. i'd rather see them be elite, and useful, as nobody was playing them in their current state. its also clear GW is going to 3-6 man units for all space marine elite infantry (stuff like aggressors, inceptors etc) i'd much rather see these changes, if thats the difference between them sitting on the shelf, vs actually being used in gameplay. its not ideal, but if thats what it takes, i'm ok with it. i do agree, upgrade frame feel like a bit of a gotcha, thats why i break down the specific value, and compare it to MSRP, because IF you have to buy upgrade frames, then they cost $35, thats a fact. not to mention the assault intercessors, are a key unit in a blood angels army, and the upgrade frames let you build them as death company if you prefer. so instead of looking at it as 10 assault intercessors, and 2 upgrade frames, things you sound like you dont want. look at it as of the new death company because thats what they are. the fact of the matter is, this box, the new models, arent perfect, i agree. but relative to the DA box, and some of the other recent ones. this CP is loaded with new models, technically all of them are brand new (counting the assault intercessors as new death company) there is a ton of savings over retail, (something that has been lacking in the last few boxes) and this is a viable starting force, for new players, and couples well with the BA launch box. so thats a lot of really good things, but somehow everyone sees it, and misses all the improvements this box has over recent CPs. if its not for you, its not for you, but for new people, or anyone looking for new models, or a good deal, this is a massive improvement, and a great value, over MSRP. thanks for taking time to actually state your case, and have some discourse, not just putting "new thing bad" like the rest of the NPC BOTS. cheers

@@WarHammerMan Fair enough it is why I said for a new player this might be good, but with the amount of Assault intercessors that were played in 9th with 27 man squads of Sanguinary guard it feels like a really raw deal compared to older patrol boxes. Like as a whole not just viewing it in all the new releases. I guess it also doesn't help that it feels like shrinkflation with the reduction of models while keeping the same price. Just feels like the plastic costs more than its weight in gold.

kind of a shame there aren't tanks or transports anymore, this one is ok. not sure how many Sang guard you would want. seems sparse. 1 - 10man, 2 - 3man sang guard. and a character. guess it's cool it's new stuff ---man do we live in crappy times though. you are getting less and less for more and more all the time. GW is greedy as hell, but the amount of money they make has nothing to do with me. i'm happy they are making money, so they make lots more cool stuff. for about 5-10 years, it looked like they were on the way out. if 30% profits is what it takes to keep the game thriving, and new minis coming out, i'm ok with that. cheers

ya its a great box, and if you dont want all the assault intercessors, no problem, you can make them into death company with the upgrade frames. this box is the best combat patrol in a long time. i had all but sworn off CPs, due to the lack of value, and new models. this box is a complete 180, and i love it. while i did like the wings, and hate the flaps (because they break off like crazy) im glad someone has an actual opinion on them, other than "everything new is bad" everything old is better. lol cheers, i'll def be getting this to go along with my new BA army box! cheers

ya i'm with you. i like the sculpts, my only issue is the missing wings. i put a picture of the old sang guard, next to the new sculpts, and the new ones are great, and way better. i too will be opening, building, and painting my dante now, after literally not touching him for months haha
