ya its a bummer they dropped down from 5 to 3, but i expected it. they have made almost all the elite infantry and elite jump infantry from the primaris range in 3s.
ya i agree, sigmar is getting all the love, and a fraction of the sales. meanwhile 40k their actual $$ cow is getting much less quality/love on the sculpts. GW has lost the script once again !
@@WarHammerMan Sadly that actually makes sense, since 40k is guaranteed to make them money they dont need to put effort into the sculpts. But since AOS is less popular they actually need to use their best sculptors to make sure that it will sell enough. At least that's my theory why the design teams have such different standards
I genuinely cannot come to believe that GW made these models in an attempt to make a good product. It’s like they did a survey asking people what they liked about the old sang. guard (death masks, wings, axes) and then did the complete fucking opposite 😂
I like the new lemartes and captain. The blood priest is decent, astorath is borderline bad, something is just off. The sanguinor isn't terrible aside from his head and those sanguinary guard are hot garbage. Also extremely disappointing they couldn't atleast come up with a death company upgrade sprue to toss in with the intercessors instead of regular blood angel bits just paint them black

ya i really think thats it. the models look nice, comparing to the old ones, i do love them. the loss of wings is what really got me. also having them without helmets doesnt really make sense, since the Death Mask was always their thing...

@@WarHammerManif you own the old SG kit there also were helmetless and even MK.VII helmet options for them, thats nothing new, even if the Death Mask is the most iconic look. There were 14 head options in the old kit for 5 models, thats nearly 3 per model.
When companies get too big, they usually get infected by people who just look at numbers and people who are not passionate about the product then they lose touch and not to mention it increases internal chaos. This ALWAYS happens; organizing people is very difficult and especially difficult when the people who are in charge are usually people without vision or creativity and are simple money grubbers.
Rick Priestly, the original architect of both Fantasy and 40k, who was head of the design studio for close to two decades left the company around 2010. Imo things started to go downhill creatively within a few years of him leaving. Since then he's said quite a few times in interviews that the original founder of Citadel Miniatures, a man called Bryan Ansell, always worked very hard to keep the sales and creative sides of the business as far apart as possible, but that after he sold the company in the early 90s it was just a slow road to having sales dominate the creatives. One other thing he has said is that the suits always wanted the marines to be more child friendly in terms of lore. They wanted them to be the heroes of the setting, rather than just another messed up faction in a galaxy of messed up factions.

These models were sculpted around end of Covid lockdowns which might be why they are so bad and lack quality control, but weve had bad models from GW before, even with "inspired" models of 7th ed, best example being Wulfen from tail end of 7th ed.

Remember how blood angels use to have their own tactical squad full of great parts for both kitbashing blood angels characters and making interesting squads with an aesthetic completely unique to the blood angels rather than looking like ultramarines with red armour
They're not losing their touch, they're just showing more love to Age of Sigmar. With that said I think the models look pretty good but hey i'm new here.

Pretty obvious what will happen to grey knights now. Strike team will be primaris with sprues and all the variants gone. Paladins will be a 3 man. Get a character upgrade. Hopefully kaldor. The only thing that may be a guess is keep the terminators and Nemesis the same or get an upgrade to 1 of them.
They look like storm cast eternals with a jump pack? Like the sanguinary guard honestly looks like a quick slap dash job that feels lazy. Maybe its bad painting, maybe if they're in an army it will look better. Probably gonna get a new unit ruling for them.
I think GW would rather play it safe and stick to what it does than actually encourage new thinking when it comes to new sculpts and models. They have both the economy and technology to produce much better models than what we are seeing.

And here's the thing, I personally don't even care if there are women custodes or SM's or whatever. I just want the lore to be consistent, to matter, and clearly it doesn't. So, there's no reason to be invested. I'll just take the things I like and ignore the rest, GW don't care their own mythology, why should I?
Biggest letdown is the lack of helmet options (all 3 are the same) shoulder pads are all the same. The legs and torsos are passable but the helmets and shoulder pads are really really bad. -1 for no wings as well.
Even looking beyond my own biased opinions against space marines, I still think that they(specifically more modern marines) consistently present some of the least inspired, arguably even the outright worst, designs GW can crap out. What makes a lot of these newer marine models even worse is the fact that half (or more) of them dont even need to exist due to them being a part of range redundancy problem marines had had for years, or being something that could have been accomplished via upgrade sprues.
Issue with Upgrade Sprews is that they dont work like they used to. All MK.X and new HH legion squad models are essentially same because they have huge issue of being overdesigned so you cant swap chests like you can with new Terminators and Chaos marines, but hey atleast the greave piece is interchangeable between MK.X models. Back in the day you could swap everything from legs to helmets to torsoes between the models.
One way GW could fix up their mini designs is getting away from the mono-build. What is stopping them adding more options and flexibility to their designs. Bits and pieces that can be added or left out if desired.
ya even the shoulder pads are lackluster. so many of the awesome elements of the old kits are going away, including 5 members instead of the pathetic 3, that will likely cost more... 40% shrinkflation

Good to see a lot of back lash on these models personally whoever is working on the heroes for most part is nailing it but this sang guard update is awful 2 less models monopose less options no wings no ornate detail apart from the muscle suit horrible looking death masks that are copy & pasted from stormcast no unique jump pack no banner no unique angelic shoulder pads just awful with chapter unique kits they should literally be copy & pasted but upscaled to primaris

The only thing that bothers me is the Sanguinors wings. Look how blocky they look. Like stones. Compare it to the old one that actually looks like a feathered wing. I wish they wouldn’t have done that. But yea all the non-character stuff is ass
honestly idk what is up with the new models from GW the last couple have been nowhere near the quality of modelling and detail as a lot of the stuff we got previously like everything in the leviathan box looked great
CAN WE GET "ASSAULT" UNITS THAT ARENT TOUCHING THE BASE WITH THE BALL OF THEIR FOOT OR JUST THEIR TOES??? ive always preferred to have my assault dude with both feet on the ground, idgaf if its a static pose or slightly running but ive always gone out of my way to put just packs on models that are more grounded. for instance i intend to print blood angel-fied primaris jump packs and putting them on the assault intercessor bodies, the actual jump intercessor kit is another where the whole model is held to the base by one small stick or rock and i find it incredibly annoying...also the 3d printed addons just make your models stand out way more
ya i'm mixed on the single connection point, tactical rock poses. the new sigmar stormcast models look great, things like the jump assault intercessors less so. these are good, but not great. I think for gamers its important they are not fragile, and breaking. for collectors/painters, the dynamic poses are cool, and most of them just sit on a shelf, so breaking isnt really an issue
Honestly I hate how this happens right after I decide to try getting into Blood Angels. I'm praying that my local shop has at least one box left when I go there tomorrow.
I don't get their issue with maintaining a proper scale. They moved to Primaris largely because the Space Marines were too small compared to other models. Then they start inflating the size of the new Sisters of Battle, Astra Militarum, etc. Scale creep is just out of control, pretty soon they'll be the same size of the JoyToy releases.
If you used a bunch of parts from the old saguinary guard to convert up the mk6 assault marines from horus heresy I think that would look much better. The older kit's weapons, helmets and shoulders are far more detailed and it would be pretty easy to swap them in. Getting the muscly torsos on might be more challenging and require a lot of cutting but it would definitely be possible.
I don't understand why their lower leg armor is so bulky and boring looking. Just look at the new Sanguinor and Dante models...that is how their armor should look, not Stormcast rejects. The models also lack all individualism and artistry. Its been a while (5th edition) but I remember the reason S.Guard were blinged out was because those were personal artistic touches put on from the wearer of the armor. Where are the scrolls, the purity seals, the little bits of individual filigree, hell I barely see any Blood Angel symbols or iconography on them. The Death Masks are incredibly boring, stale and flat. And where are the Angel wing jump packs? Swap out the shoulder pads and they could just be jump troops from any Chapter, nothing on them screams "Elite of the Elite Blood Angels". And lastly why are they wearing giant fanny-packs on their belts on the side? It makes the models way too wide and ruins their sleek Angels of Death silhouette.
I never understood the bald look . Give the sanguinary guard helmets like the Sanguinor Showing Their Primarch Sanguinius's awesome golden hair! Why make them wear age of sigmar bald heads ? that look nothing like sanguinius!

I swear, GW are trying to get us to accept female-looking male miniatures! Sanguinor's chest has been painted as if it has spherical boobs instead of flat pectorals - even though the panels are _not_ spherical, as evidenced by the side photo. Is Sanguinor secretly a woman? The waist says 'no', but the chest says 'yes'. This has been painted and photographed in this fashion purposefully. I see they got the paint job for the Sanguinary Guard correct for men.
I WANT to like these models. I like the design of the armor, the actual scale of the model is pretty good and I’ve always thought that Encarmine spears would be awesome for them but why did they have to gut the flavourful parts of the mini?!?

I love new models and all and very much appreciative of Blood Angels getting love, but 3 models for Sanguinary guard with less weapon options and no wings, what a rip off. Would 2 more models really have broken the factory or the bank? Come on now.
Blood Angels were going to be my first army. I held back after the Death Wing bos dropped and it looked like an 2000s emo band, now this? No thanks. I'll keep my literal $2,000+ I was going to drop, GW obviously doesn't care enough to create good products, they are too focused on politics to care about customers.

i agree with the jump packs, very weak. i do like the sculpted chest plates, and shinny six packs. the weapons are ok, def stormcast-esque. as far as the sanguinor, i disagree. the old model was fine, he was just tiny, and dated. they didnt need to do anything special, just make him bigger, and more crisp, which they did a great job on

Classic GW change scale and buy a new model. Just base clips for me, bro. Same with my gaunts. I do think literally all of the new stormcast look better. My old Sang guard look better to me. They look more detailed. The masks don't look like Mr. Cleans bald golden head. None of this was "special" at all. Lamartes, the death company, this. All meh
I'm disappointed in these golden intercessors with boring stormcast faces. The sculptor let us down. Good thing GW will never tell us who he is! 😅 I'm making my own successor chapter this time and I think I can work around the disappointment. Our armies might not even need these guys, anyway. 3D printing is a thing now and some talented designer might figure out exactly what these models are lacking.
I’ve been bugged by this for a long time now. While these models aren’t terrible by any means they are pretty boring, and the Sanquinor looks almost exactly as the old one, but its face looks worse than the old one which is weird. I also don’t like its wings, which look just cheap and uninspired. The Age of Sigmar minis are insane, with hyper-detailed models that blow virtually any 40K model (with the exception of the loyalist and traitor Primarch models) out of the water, and I don’t understand why. Are they trying to get more people to play AoS by making so much better-looking minis for that range? Okay, but why not pump out hyper-detailed 40K minis when 40K is their most successful range? Go take a look at the Skaven models that were just shown off a few days ago and you’ll see that every one of them are far better-designed models than the Sanquinor and the other models announced the other day. Why? Why can GW design amazing sculps for AoS but not for 40K? I honestly don’t understand.
They removed the angel from the Blood Angels. Now they’re just Bloods. The characters we got are nice but the infantry has been ass honestly. They did DC so dirty and the SG are really just not it for me. What’s with this whole minimalist shit they are going for? BA fans want their units decked out with ornamentation and if someone doesn’t, then it’s clear BA is just not for them which is fine. I feel like GW is trying to make all marine types appeal to all marines instead of tailoring their strong suits to people who already are BA fans and like what the BA are about
i do like the sculpted details, def very cool look and iconic for the blood angels, but they are a bit lacking in other cool elements. they def feel like jump intercessors, with some minor improvements, rather than the epic sanguinary guard of late, relative to their counterparts.
This is a much deeper problem than just shoddy sculpting. It's a sick mindset that permeates the entire West, even in the hobby, cinema and literature. What's happening to Game Workshop was inevitable. The little things we thought, like the changes in the lore, obviously Game Workshop is subject to the diversity ideology, just like Lord of the Rings before it, which wants to smooth out the story or characters as much as possible to create a blur and make anything and everything out of it.
I am disappointed in all the models. There less detail. Less shoulder pads. Weapons and the sing is *hit. He's not a prime and got less detail some how. That hair and face.
Fail. The Sanguinor looks like he’s constipated. The model really didn’t need to be Primaris. It takes away from his supernatural aura and just makes him some sort of super marine who gets dropped in to the super hard missions. Those Sanguinary Guard are truly trash. They look like it’s a box of BA lieutenants. Amazingly dull when compared to the original box. None of the detailing or artistic flourishes. Absolutely meh for a box of what will certainly be $20+ each model.
Im kindna happy from a painting perspective that the wings are gone. I hate painting white wings 🪽 it takes forever. I feel like the helmets are a bit too similar to the stormcast eternals, but I still like the sanguinary guard look.
I don't think they are too bad. The Sanginator, I hate scrolls. I always have and always will. and I don't like his head much... The Guard are ok, I don't like bare heads but they have the option to have them helms, and they seem to be scared of nipples now. Missing the wings is odd EXTRA thoughts. from 5 to 3 models, are they changing the data sheet? I am sorry but that is a crappy thing to do. you are going to charge me the same price for 3 as you did for 5. it's slimy GW and you know it. Also no axes... sigh... stop being lazy. make 2 more models and make axes, how hard is this really? And don't tell me it costs more money blah blah blah, they are already gouging us hard. So I'm going to be in the minority as the contrarian here and say that I actually like the new look of the sanguinary guard without the wings. The reason is because as a bodyguard type unit, it kind of bothered me that they were flashier than and outshowing the character they were protecting. Maybe the wings on them would work better if the characters had bigger wings then the sanguinary guard but then I'd have to find a winged backpack with bigger wings for characters like Dante or Lemartes. I did think the sanguinary guard looked okay when in a unit with the Sanguinor or Asorath. The biggest shame to me is GW dropping the box size down to 3 models and losing the axe and power fist options. That does suck.
lol i just buy what i want. lots of kits GW makes arent perfect, i love to kitbash, convert, and improve things to make them how i want. but if thats how you feel, def keep those hobby dollars for something you like

Not everyone has the financials to afford two 50 - 60 dollar kits just to convert something they should have gotten after waiting literal years.
Let me get this right: we had aggressors, inceptors, phobos, invictor warsuits, impulsors and just a myriad of primaris stuff that's removed from GW's original style... And this is the update that people can't stomach? I agree they lack some details but come on guys, just do Horus Heresy.
Almost every one of the new Blood Angels Refresh kits are terrible or just meh. It’s just sad that the Death Company Brutalis and the Death Company Jump Intercessors are going to replace the unique sculpts we have now. Not just get a lazy upgrade sprue. Same with the Sanguinary Guard, it’s a 100% downgrade.
They should have made the sanguinor look more like Yndrasta. Upscaling/making High def versions of models is fine if the existing model is already cool. The sanguinor and Astorath were both lame models to start. They both needed redesigns and updates to their poses. Helbrecht, avatar of Khaine, Jain zar, Drazhar, belakor are all examples of models that got redesigned well, kept the essence of the original and came out looking way better. These blood angels models are just sad. And following ole incontinent Coteaz… Yeesh
GW stop making dramatic seens miniatures. Why you making cheap plastic jumped seens were everytime players use miniatures that they break at every weak joints at the bases. I give designs team a F+, for every new miniature they come out with. I'm sorry GW, you need to rethink your every design flaw in all of your new miniatures! That's my opinion!😢😢😢😢
I came in as an ork player and love to convert and kitbash my models. However, when I have to buy 4 AOS kits and raid my bits box to get some decent sanguinary guard and Sanguinor, that's a bit much. Was so looking forward to this only to get a glorified upgrade sprue and a glow up to a t posing model. I know GW is better than this, and i think they know it too.
Redesign is disappointing since they are back to more standard jump packs, and down to 3 models is infuriating. Great. Now I need to figure out how to make a stand-in to get my 5 man squad up to 6 or have two models I won't field. Not paying the points for 3 models and using only 2.
