If you meet the requirements, look into getting a home through Habitat for Humanity. I have been volunteering 2-3 days a week with them for 3 and a half years now doing home builds and their 'aging in place' initiative. And, NO, they don't give you the house but you do get an interest free mortgage. Future homeowners also have to do 250 hours (at our Habitat affiliate-others may vary) of 'sweat equity' working on the construction of your home, you also have to do 10-12 workshops on homeownership that cover things like maintenance, budgeting, etc.

Look up past mortgage rates….was paying 6.5% 12 years ago. Lives there 5 years sold and made almost 300k. Interest 50 years ago was 14%

@@User-54631 DTI is a more important factor. In 1980 the median income was $21k per American. The interest rates were 19-20%. The median home price was $47k in 1980. That means roughly a 2:1 DTI ratio. Today, the average home is 420k. Today, the median income is 83k, which translates to 5:1 DTI. You can see that interest rates in the short term aren't very relevant to the purchasing power of an individual today. Things are out of wack.

My friend used to live in California and said that it was so great because in an hour he could be at the beach and in 3 hours he could be in the mountains. I live in Georgia so I countered with 'in 4-5 hours I have my pick of the Atlantic or the Gulf and in 60-90 minutes I can be in the mountains AND I can afford a house!'

I've bought 2 houses. 1 at 24 and 2 at 34. It's frustrating, but it's worth it. When I sold the first one, same thing. Everyone should own something. If you don't want to fix things or yard work, then buy a condo.

⁠@@God-w- Is there ever truly a right time to buy a house though? For those of us in this generation it is what we are stuck with. Right now there may be high interest rates and high costs but the competition is still very low so one could argue it’s a perfect time to buy because there’s no one competing against you. Once houses and interest rates come down EVERYONE will be in the market so then you’re dealing with a lot of competition. I think what you’re saying is what everyone is saying and then we repeat it like it’s fact and that can make potential home buyers afraid and then in-turn they’ll never be in a home at that rate if they’re making decisions off of fear and not logic.

Hello Congratulations I did called Rocket.. they turned me down. Just going by Paper work. Rules etc etc… On top of that making over $1.5 million a year.. and my credit score 806.. So I was my own bank. And bought land, built a home with a huge concrete driveway and built in swimming pool. I paid everything cash. I’m glad they turned me down.. because the universe had a plan for me so I followed.. (I was my own contractor ) and no mortgage payments Everything paid.. thanks

Cant relate to the fanatasy i pray for atleast a car... maybe if im lucky trailer or van. Trailer is pushing it. And the dream would be selling my art for a living and a miracle would be just having a family of my own. 😢i feel so alone rn..no mom or dad... no partner.
