Lee Greenwood wrote this song in 1983 and it was released a year later. He's the original singer also.

Lee Greenwood is amazing, he was 78 when this was filmed and he sounds as good as he did when I was fortunate enough to see him live back in the 80s. And of course Home Free never fails to be outstanding.

Yes, that's Lee Greenwood (the original singer), and his voice is still fantastic! If you take Lee Greenwood, add a touch of Home Free and the USAF Singing Sargeants, you get a beautiful performance with wonderful harmonies! Did you catch Adam's flyover at the end? I love this! It is so impressive! What a wonderful collaboration with Lee Greenwood and The United States Air Force band. One by one such beautiful voices which match so well with the voices of Home Free. The fact that Lee Greenwood remains the center of attention I think shows a lot of respect for this great singer. But Adam Rupp tops it off with his incredible beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds.

Some Home Fries may remember me leaving this comment on other reactions to this Home Free colab, but But here it is again; 1985, manning the rails wearing my dress whites, on the flight deck of the Carl Vinson, passing under the Golden Gate bridge, returning from an 8 month Westpac, with the original version of this song playing over the 1MC, trying to hold back the tears. A moment I will remember to my dieing day.

The title is misleading. Those are the Air Force Singing Sergeants accompanying HF

As good as this one is, I prefer their older recording, just the HF guys. It concentrates on the song itself instead of the (very worthy) people in the video. Chris Rupp arranged it just after 9/11 and for years HF sang it in every concert. Thy still do it often, just not every time anymore.
