If you listen very closely, at the end the "beatboxer" Adam will make the sound of a jet flyover. It's awesome!! Lee Greenwood originally wrote and recorded this song way back. Here he is at 77 years old and he sounds awesome!! Beautifully done! If you are interested, look up Challenger the Eagle. He used to free fly at games during the National Anthem. Football, baseball etc.
Yes, great song written by Lee Greenwood and a hit for him in the 80’s. Lee was the first singer and then the other men with beards and not in uniform were the a cappella group Home Free. They asked the US Air Force Singing Sergeants to join them. Home Free has a beatboxer who made a jet sound and drum sounds….he’s incredible. Lots of patriotic songs by Home Free too like Land of the Free (original), My Country Tis of Thee, Brothers in Arms. Good one Ryan!😍

I am a Cuban-American; Thanks to this great country, I got to grow up here and raise my children here instead of that communist hellhole that yes, still exists after 60 years. First off I Love this rendition of God Bless the USA.. I love Lee Greenwood alone doing it but this is Lee Greenwood, Home Free and our Military together doing it.. It's perfection to me.. Second.. I have to say I'm so glad that you get chills hearing the love of our country that are singing. Every country should have the amount of pride that I have as an American. When we all watch the Summer Olympics this year.. we should all have pride in our Countries.. When we see our Flag going up and and hear our National Anthems.. not matter the Country.. should be Pride. I respect that
Lee still sounding great and there is so much talent amongst our military personnel. Home Free is singing on this one. They are the best! They have several patriotic songs I think you'd like as well as just about every other genre.
I don't understand why FOX didn't attribute this correctly. I'm assuming Home Free gave FOX permission, but they should attribute it correctly. it irritates me in an unreasonable manner every time I see this presented this way. Like you said, I am sure they had permission from both Lee AND Home Free, but to see it presented this way without proper recognition ...ARGHHH!! And while I really do appreciate the way they included the service men and women in this performance, I prefer HF's original cover in front of Mt Rushmore.
I always feel a combination of pride and pain (usually making me teary-eyed); I remember the turmoil the people of the USA were experiencing when it was first sung. I can't help but sing along.
No veterans (unless Lee is a veteran).Those in uniform were active duty airmen. The older fellow is Lee Greenwood.The other five singers are Home Free. Lee approached Home Free about an a capella remake of his big hit from the 80s, based on an earlier arrangement Home Free recorded, with a video filmed in front of Mt. Rushmore. I am not sure who brought up the idea of bringing in a military choir, or if the Singing Sergeants were the only ones asked (each branch has bands and choirs). This was all during the COVID lockdown, hence recording in multiple studios. Interesting on the second verse, the Home Free members fit the lines they sing, and I think that applies to the airmen singing their lines, so Rob from Minnesota sings 'from the Lakes of Minnesota,' and a female (only one shown) and a male airman sing to the hills of Tennessee (I am pretty sure they were chosen as being from Tennessee), Tim from Texas sings in his bass sings 'across the plains of Texas', and Chance (Adam Chance,called Chance because when he joined beatboxer Adam Rupp was already their Adam, so they avoided confusion) who had lived in both coastal Alabama and Los Angeles sings 'from sea to shining sea', then a black woman airman sings 'from Detroit to Houston' (I am pretty sure she is from one or both), and then other airmen complete with 'from New York to LA'.

This collaboration was actually the idea of one of the Air Force's "Singing Sergeants": Tech. Sgt. Nadia Sosnoski, the young woman who was highlighted on the line, "to the hills of Tennessee..." She's a friend of Tim Foust, the member of Home Free who sings the bass part.

The group - Home Free - are a 5 member acapella group and at their roots they're a country group but they sing a little bit of everything. The beatboxer is performing all the background "music" but you wouldn't know that there's no instruments playing. Even the last note, Adam is creating the sound of a fly over. The Singing Sergeants are a group within the Air Force and there's a crazy list of things that each singer in the group has to have to even be allowed to audition for. Think you'd enjoy listening to anything by Home Free.

Everyone thinks the active duty military members are soldiers. In fact they are the official US Air Force singers ad that is their job in the Air Force. To become a member is a very rigorous audition pocess. Most have degrees in music, are interviewed at numerous levels and must go through a vigorous audition process. I know because I spent 20 years in the USAF (1974 to 1995). When stationed at Mcguire Air Force Base in New Jersey my next door neighbor was a member of the Air Force band. I can tell you that every military member in all branches of the US military has boatloads of patriotism to spare and that just increases tenfold when hearing any patriotic song. I joined while Vietnam was still going on. God bless the USA came out the year we had our first war in the middle east called Desert Storm and the military bases along the Mississippi Gulf Coast were treated to an appreciation assembly where Lee Greenwood sang this song. It was thrilling, emotional, and so patriotic. I love this country so deeply and would join again in a heartbeat. Most of my career was spent during peacetime (peacetime Meaning there were no declared wars at that time). BUTttttt the cold war was ongoing with the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union collapsed it was on my watch. Like me, you would find that the number one driving force behind an all volunteer military is that we want everyone in the world to experience the same freedoms that we enjoy but sometimes take for granted. For me i wanted to be a part of something greater than myself and I found my place and purpose in life in the military. Sorry for the long winded comments. I really enjoy your reactions. I am a US Navy Desert Shield Desert Storm vet and I can tell you I was as familiar with this song as I was with the National Anthem before I went into the conflict and it is in my heart and soul! This version, with my fellow VETS will bring me to tears every time ❤❤❤❤❤
I was a military brat (kid of a service member) when this song came out. Everyone felt so much pride with this song. I then played it every Fourth of July while I was watching fireworks with my kids. We’d stand and sing it together. I’m sure they’ll carry on the tradition with their kids 🥰
I had the pleasure of hearing U. S. Air Force The Sing Sergeants recently and they were wonderful. This song was written by Lee Greenwood and the Home Free a capella version is THE BEST.
Lee Greenwood still sounds fantastic - even better than the original song. Lee said that with the addition of Home Free & the Singing Sergeants (in camouflage) he could ad lib instead of sticking with his original version. Home Free is acapella (the beatboxer is incomparable) and so is this rendition of the song. Fall down the Home Free rabbit hole!

also in this was the group home free and there was not one musical instrument all this was vocal. even the drums and the jets at the end was all vocally done.

Some use an effect to cover the video so it's subdued but the audio is not affected. Home Free welcomes their videos be reacted to! They encourage reactors.
