Home Free are something else - They have two stellar tenors - Austin Brown, the high tenor here in the middle and Rob Lundquist the lead tenor (beard and glasses). Adam Chance, left side back, is their baritone but he can easily cover bass when their bass is taking the lead. Their beatboxer, who founded the group with his brother when they were still at school is Adam Rupp, otherwise called "freak of nature" or "human drumkit" is unbelievable. Tim Foust the bass is a genuine rare basso profundo (deepest of basses) and believe me you haven't heard anything yet - during concerts he rattles chairs and floors when he hits really low or takes sound-systems out some time and he has an unbelievable 5 octave range up to a tenor. In this group anyone gets to shine, whoever's voice suits the song the best takes the lead which makes them incredibly versatile. But more that anything these guys are down to earth and they can go from serious to completely hilarious from one song to another, they are born comedians (especially Tim Foust).

Welcome to Home Free! (I spy a new Home Fry here!) This group does country, gospel, pop, rock, rap, and sea shanties! Cover songs and originals. Four singers and a beatboxer. Between the 4 singers, there are 3 tenors, 2 basses, and 2 baritones. You will need to watch more videos to see/hear that magic. And Adam Rupp (beatboxer) provides the instrumentation--drums, harmonica, castanets, didgeridoo, etc. The most common suggestions to new reactors are: use headphones and listen to at least 6 Home Free songs before listening to their cover of Mayday. Enjoy!
@rcinsley
@rcinsley 2 года назад
4 = 3 + 2 + 2 I love it!! Also you're right about "Mayday." Six HF songs may be sufficient, but only if they include solos by all 4 of the singing members (Adam very rarely sings.) Elsewhere in another comment, arnieadam offers an excellent playlist that will give you samples of each singer's voice, range, and style. I'll also add "American Pie" to those recommendations -- it requires solos from all 4 singers.

Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. Tim Foust is the best bass singer in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. They lean towards country but can sing any genre. They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

They sounded so "country" in this song because it suited the song. They bill as a country acapella group, but they cover many different genres. That bass, Tim Foust, has a 5 octave range. For more bass, listen to "Brother's in Arms." To explore that high tenor's sweet voice, listen to his cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman." Rob, the tenor with the "bright voice" has a talent for a bit of a bluesy soul twist...one he takes lead on is "End of the Road." The beatboxer, Adam Rupp, really shines in his drum solo (search for Home Free Drum solo...he's in a red shirt). Adam Chance their bass/baritone, takes the lead on, "Cover Me Up." Those will give you a taste of each talent.@

The "strange sound" is an imitation of an old instrument once known as a Jew's Harp. The name is a corruption of the French Jeu Tromp (toy trumpet). The mouth organ is just a couple of pieces of metal that makes an odd twang when pluck. It is partly inserted in the mouth and the spring part is plucked.

I absolutely love seeing people hearing Home Free for the first time. Your reaction was great! Home Free does a lot of country covers, but they can do anything. Listen to their cover of Boyz II Men "End of the Road" and the old Rick Atchley song "Never Gonna Give You Up" (but beware--they "cut up" on "Never Gonna Give You Up" and have a lot of fun with it--and as someone who was young when the original came out, this is one that I just laughed at their poking fun at the 80's; the vocals are no less impressive, but they just have so much fun with it). I also suggest "When a Man Loves a Woman". It is absolutely fantastic. None of these is country, so you'll get an idea of Home Free's range in terms of what they can do with different genres. The bass is Tim Foust. He has a five octave range. To hear him at his best, try his collaboration with Peter Hollens in "Misty Mountain" (from the movie "The Hobbit").

There are a couple of clips in live performances where he blows the subwoofer in the speaker. I call it the reverse of the Opera Singer shattering the wine glass, He does a duet with Peter Hollens singing “Misty Mountain” the song from the Hobbit Movies well worth your time. The rest of the group are just as ridiculously talented. “How Great Thou Art” will bring tears to your eyes even if you’ve never set foot in a church. The sound you found so interesting at the start and end of the song was done by Adam Chance (the one that looks like Will Wheaton if you know who that is). The sound is mimicking an instrument called a jaw harp. (plus some sounds I don't think a jaw harp can make) The beat boxer, Adam Rupp (yes, there are two Adams in the group, Adam Chance goes by his last name to avoid confusion) is a two time world champion in beatboxing competitions. You aren't the first person by far to say he's a human drum kit.

Mr pipe organ (Tim Foust) has a 5 octave range. You should hear his just released "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". He sings all the parts himself. Home Free is amazing and they have many great songs for you to check out.

This performance is a nice introduction, but there is so much more to hear. While they lean country, they cover many genres. Their harmonies are amazing. I would suggest their cover of “In The Blood” followed by “ Brothers In Arms” or just go to their RU-vid channel and pick a song.

I don't know whether you were using ear buds, but you really need some kind of ear phone/head phone to truly appreciate some of the bass things that Tim does. I'm glad that you picked up on going an octave down on the echo after his solo.

Enjoyed it, ma'am. This here's a great road to travel down with Home Free. For another goodun, try another A Cappella group called Voiceplay. They have an equally impressive bass man by the name of Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci who, as a bass singer myself, I personally like better than Home Free's man, Tim Foust. Geoff also has some covers he does on his own channel. Please do yourself and us humble listeners a favor by reactin to em. Thank ye and I hope you and your's have a goodun ✝️🇺🇸🤠

Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole...what an awesome journey awaits you! Austin (the tenor in the middle front) was singing show tunes and trying to get rid of his Georgia accent when Home Free asked him to join HF and bring his accent along. If you want to hear one of his classical pieces, check out the concert clip titled BHH and DAHM ... BHH, Bring Him Home from Les Miserables is really a treat, he doesn't often do it. Also I believe Tim Foust (bass) is just shy (or has achieved possibly) six octaves. You really can't go wrong with any of their music, but some of my faves are Go Rest High On That Mountain, End of the Road (a Boyz2Men cover) and Butts Medley for fun. Looking forward to seeing your journey. I just subbed.

Lately I’ve been watching as many reactions to this song as I can find. I keep coming back to this video because this lady‘s reaction and appreciation just seems so genuine. Every reviewer is impressed, but there’s a certain joy in this ladies reaction that I just find endearing. Thank you Madame for this review.

The sound you hear in the beginning is Adam Chance imitating a jaw harp. Everything else is pure a capella including the "drums" Adam Rupp is a walking talking drumkit! Tim Foust is the bass singer with a 5 octave range, A1 to A5! Check him out in his low register in Brothers in arms and his high register in Mayday!

Sofie, the sound at the beginning and end of the video is a recreation of what a long, wooden tube, mouth-played, Australian Aborigine Digeridoo instrument sounds like. Cool, huh?

Welcome to the Home Fry family you're getting ready to go down the deepest rabbit hole ever these boys are non-stop entertainment... The sound your hearing at the beginning is the sound of a didgeridoo by Mr Adam Chance he is doing that all by mouth.

The sound you hear right off the bat (the bullfrog sound) and in the background for the song is the baritone guy Adam Chase (guy back left) using an almost Mongolian throat singing technique. Oh and Tim, the Bass guy...he can actually cover 5 octaves...no joke! Watch their cover of Mayday....yyou will be shocked.

I just discovered your channel via your Home Free reaction! The group was formed in 2000 by the beatboxer and his older brother, who had the idea to start the group. They’ve had numerous member changes through the years, though. The founder left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career. This lineup has been together since then and have really evolved! I hope you continue to react to their videos! I like your style and you truly appreciate their talent.
