My son served in Afghanistan. This song has always hit me as a mom of a soldier. My son came home. My son had a great friend who was over there with him that didn't make it home. My heart goes out to the friends mom and wife when I hear this song. The guys did this song justice.

both of them were real soldiers which is fitting for the song....this is an emotional song that gets me every time. Why? Because I am an Army Vet and i understand writing and waiting on that letter. It's hard for all us service people, Men and Women vets and some have no one to send or get a letter from so it's like a lifeline... Just remember all the Vets male and female who paid Ultimate Sacrifice or who came back and are still dealing with the trauma of being over there. You all have my thanks and for the families you like your loved ones are heroes also. God Bless

this is a Dixie Chicks (now known as just The Chicks) song & in their original the guy goes into the military....Home Free put their spin on this with changing it up. I have 6 family members in the military & I lost a close cousin when I was a kid, in Vietnam. I think about him and cried this morning missing him...I understand & feel personally what Memorial Day is all about. How about that harmony sequence near the begining with Chance & Austin....we need more of that.

I'm traveling with my daughters to see my late husband grave. He died in 2010 in Afghanistan. Memorial weekend is always hard for us but this one especially because my oldest graduates high school. Thanks for the wholesome reaction

Yes, you are right many people think it's a time to celebrate, it's a holiday for them to get a day off work to relax and have fun and they have no idea or even think about that it's a day to think of, pay respects to, morn and thank our fallen soldiers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have the freedom to go do those things.

A bittersweet song. Nice twist to have the woman as the soldier. I understand the actors are/were soldiers which is cool. Loved Austin and Chance singing together in the beginning. So good and Adam’s drum solo was touching. Good reaction Tank.
