As a combat veteran I totally agree with you. Mail call was the best thing about my time overseas. Thank you for your reaction and thank you for the shout out. Home Free hit this one out of the park
I'm a Vietnam Veteran. Letters from home are one of the things that we look forward too. Especially around the Holidays. I served 2 tours in Vietnam. I enjoyed this is song very much.
One reason I don't consider Home Free just an ordinary vocal band. They can make us laugh and then do videos like People, One Voice and now this for Memorial Day.
I'm with you 100% Brenda ! This is why we love them. The new album is awesome....look for a song called "Undivided" its amazing, and they included "People" on it...I pre-ordered it & will get it autographed !!!
I am a (non-combat) Vet, in a family of combat Vets. This song hits hard. Their renditions are so beautiful. The creative talent, arranging, and video production is unmatched. Add to their real love of music and people and fans and life, a great combo! The actors are both Vets, as well! Thank you for your service! My brothers were in a unit written about in 'The Devil's Sandbox'. ❤
You hit home with one thing you said. My brother did make it home from his service in the desert but he is not the same. Has many physical and mental issues. Another hit song from Home Free. I can’t get enough of them and I love your reactions to them. Thanks for your service.
My husband is retired US Army so, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart for your service. HOME FREE is amazing and I am constantly amazed at their talent. Thanks for your reaction to this very emotional, beautiful song.
Thank You for your service. I'm not able to put my finger on exactly what is so different in this song. The Austin and Chance harmonizing was awesome, they don't often sing together just the 2 of them! We need more! Every time I think I can't love these men any more, they do something so beautiful with such a message! They make us laugh with their antics, but more importantly, they always make me FEEL something with every song. They are true artists! Thank you for diving down the rabbit hole and showing love to our guys! ❤
HC, DUDE, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your service !!! Home Free did their thing and hit it out of the ballpark again. How about that harmony at the begininng with Austin & Chance...WE NEED TO HEAR THAT MORE OFTEN !!!
Feel the same way. Loved that they flipped it around. First time I've seen a female soldier depicted in a song. the song makes me misty eyed by itself, but flipping it around just made me fall in love with it. This vet thanks you for your service as well and prayers up to our brothers and sisters who didn't make it back.
Love the points you're making. I'd like to add they had African-Americans playing the parts to show they have always fought for this country, from day one! ♥️
Only band that percussion make me emotional! 😭. That snare gives me chills! Rupp stunning! I will be preordering this album! As a family member to many veterans, this hit hard! 🇺🇸. Thank you to all veterans and family members for your service and sacrifices to protect freedom! Thank you Home Free! ❤️
I married a Vietnam vet and wrote to him every day for 13 months. The letters kept him grounded with all that he was going through away from home. Home Free has a heart
As the wife and mother of marines spent yrs of my life writing and waiting on letters 💖but i know my boys and i wouldn't have had it any other way ........ semper fi ......ty for your beautiful react to an awesome song.
They out do themselves every time they do a song. They’re untouchable at the level of talent they always display. One thing though, if you haven’t seen The Dixie Chicks performance of this, please do. It is just as amazing as this.
This is the first track off their new album, and I think you will love the whole thing. It's got a patriotic theme throughout and every song is amazing. It's available for preorder now and you get the digital tracks when you preorder.
The Dixie Chicks version from 2002 is also a cover. The original song was written and sung by Bruce Robinson in 1996. That said, theirs was the first to be a number 1 hit. This was also great version of the song.
Having spent time in a remote area many years ago I can appreciate the emotions of this song. This song is very sad but the message needs to be seen by every American. Thanks for your reaction!
Thank you for your response! 3 emotional but strong songs/videos from Home Free! Thank you to you for your service and to all that have and are serving! Also, thank you to the soldiers families!
Home Free has been bringing out songs that we really need to hear. After th horrible year and a half we've had. Thank you so very much for your service. My father, husband, and three sons are veterans. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction.
First time listener, I am a vet of operation Iraqi freedom. Love your take on the reaction. I enjoyed getting letters and gifts from those back home, helped keep spirits high
Thank you for your service and for this reaction. This is why music will always be part of the human experience. We listen to music when we rejoice, reminisce, or grieve. In fact, there is music for any emotion we may be feeling. Even if you don't understand the lyrics, the emotions will still reach you.
This. Many friends + family made it home physically, but never really left. I have lost friends, my father died from the effects of his service, and its generally every other year someone I know is lost because of it. This song holds a special place in my heart.
Spot on about the value of words from loved ones back home. I served aboard ballistic missile submarines, and we were allowed up to 8 “Family-Gram” radio messages with a max of 40 words on each 10-week patrol. Those were like gold! By the way, thank you for your own service, and my condolences for your own loss of friends, whether those casualties were physical or mental. 🙏
Thank you so much for a great reaction. Home Free did a wonderful job with this song. Thank you so very much for your service and those you served with. My husband came back from Vietnam and several of our friends made it home also. Only one didn't make it home and didn't have a chance to meet his son, but I know he was watching from above. Love and God Bless all who have served and those we miss.
I've heard this song a few times but not by Home Free. Can't ever watch all the way to the end. I was stationed at OAKKNOLL Naval hospital ( An Air-Evac rated facility for Navy & Marine Corp personnel). I felt honored to treat those guys coming back with all kinds of wounds or conditions. It would generate lots of come to Jesus reactions and some PTSD explosions. This song can also apply to everyday people who suffer profound life-changing conditions like stroke, para or quadriplegia and on & on. The loved one is affected dramatically and in some occasions can't deal with the changes.
I had the same reaction. I didn't remember the original and it started out so happy.... and I was driving, and when that bridge hit I burst in to tears and had to pull over and cry. It happened to be on memorial day, and we had just finished putting flags on veterans graves in the local cemetary with the Boy Scouts. so my emotions were already close to my chest. My son is named after a close friend who was killed in Iraq, and I lost multiple friends and fellow soldiers. This song hit ALL my feels as a veteran.
Love this song and you !!! Glad I found you Buddy’!!! Thank you for your service. We can’t be free without young men and women like you!!! God bless!!!
Thank you so much for your service and your heartfelt reactions. Some of my favorites. My husband did twelve years in after 9/11 so the military holds a special place in my heart. God bless all of them and you!
A salute to all my Brother's and Sisters in Arms , young and old , active and veterans , MIA and KIA. International and national, home and abroad. And the ones we lost along the way from the war in their heads... And the ones still fighting their inner demons. Less we forget... Respectfully and a salute from a Dutch Royal Army Veteran. Loved the song and your reaction by the way.
Thank you for your service. My father was a WWII vet, and the ex was a VN vet. Neither ever said much about their time overseas but there were moments, with the ex, when some experience would cause an emotional shift kept just below the surface. Lost classmates and siblings of friends and neighbors during the VN conflict. Really enjoying your very authentic and heartfelt reactions as I check out your Home Free playlist.
I've never been in the military myself, but all of my brothers were, one still is, several cousins, Aunts, Uncles, my Dad, Father-in-law. So knowing the waiting game is hard. This song and so many can be emotional roller coasters.
In WWII it was considered a woman's duty to write to 8 or 10 soldiers and when one died they would be given a new one my mother told me by the USO. It has always been difficult.
Thank you for your service and your genuine reaction. My uncle served 20 plus years in the Army and I wrote letters to him when he was a part of Desert Storm. I was still a teen and it was a scary time but thank God he came home.
Please consider FIRST TIME hearing Joey & Rory "When I'm Gone". Very powerful. Sadly, the message in song came true for these two years later after recording. (tissue alert) Quality writing and wonderful delivery. Thank you in advance!
It was awesome to see a reaction from someone who knows the original and could pick up on the lyric changes they did! I really like how they did them and agree that Home Free more than did it justice!
Thank you for your service and thank you so much for this great reaction. Always love your reaction to home free. God bless you and your family and thank you to all the veterans
I think we have long overlooked other military personnel as well as female regular military that we have lost. This is a beautiful reminder in time for Memorial Day in the USA. My deepest respect for all who serve and have served; and especially for the families who wait. This was wonderful. Thanks for your reaction
I'm fortunate my aunt and uncle made it back alive. It was a while ago before I was born but they don't talk about it much. This hits home for me as as well
Thank you so much for your service and to all of our brave soldiers. I really do appreciate the sacrifice that you and your families gave for our freedom. There are no words that are strong enough for us to give to you. Appreciate your reactions .
Thank you for your awesome reactions!! You aren’t afraid to share your emotions, and I love you for it❣️ Thank you so much for your service! I come from a family of military service, and I realize just how important those hand written letters are! I wrote many to my daughter and son when they were serving!! Thanks again for another great reaction!!
Thanks for your reaction - I love the fact that you are genuine. Another reactor suggested that the Home Fries need to reach out to our military through letters. One of the websites that will forward letters is supportoutroops.org, which I have also shared on a couple of FB sites.
Thank you for your service and the sacrifices you have made for us. Your response to the emotions brought out by this song was very real, and your generosity in sharing those emotions is beyond price. Thank you.
I remember how hard it was when my son just went to Boot camp and I couldnt hear from him for 6 weeks. When I finally got a letter, it meant everything. I want to say thank you to our military...active, reserve, and veterans. And my thoughts are with all those who have lost a loved one serving this country. Thank you all so much for your sacrifice. God Bless you all!💗And Thank you to Home Free for showing their support for our men and women in the military. It means so much.
Thank you so much for such a genuine and heartfelt reaction. Thank you so much for your service. Sending you lots of love and best wishes for Memorial Day!
Dreamer is from the Dive Bar Saints album... YOU will really like it... I go through your Home Free playlist at least once a day.. There's always something I pick up that I missed... LOL ...Love your reactions !!! You've got heart and soul man, keep 'em coming...
Highly first off...Thank you for your service! Secondly I literally waited to watch and listen to this just to see if you were going to react to it! Great reaction... you are so right the little bit of change they did to the original song made it almost new! They did a great job! I can tell it was very emotional for you to do this reaction but I am so glad you did. Much love highly 💚
May I offer my sincere gratitude for your service. You're so right about the impact of correspondence from a war - I still have all my maternal grandfather's postcards from WWI. It's all I really know of him (he died when my mother was 4).
Another song with a similar theme, but definitely a different story is David Ball with Riding with Private Malone. Another tearjerker for military sacrifice.
So sad when service member didn't come home, worse when they do to nothing cause " home " moved on without them. 25 yr veteran here, that side just leaves u empty
God bless you for your service. I have soldiers in my family too. Thankfully, they’re all ok. This was bittersweet. So well done by the boys. Liked the switch up. Thought it would be the man in the army but it was the woman and that was a nice switch. Thank you for your reaction and may you have a great weekend!
