The most famous version of this song (previously at least) was by 'The Chix', formally 'The Dixi Chix'. The original is much older though. Home Free did a role swap on their cover which I really liked. Women in the military warrant just as much respect as the men, if not more.
They were never known by either of those names as far as I can tell. They are The Chicks and were formerly The Dixie Chicks. The only reference I can find to Dixie Chix is a tribute cover by someone else.
