@@BaronVonGrumble *I'm not one for nostalgia - as I remember e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, but I hope this becomes a talisman for getting your mojo back.* Cheers.
Wow, 10 years. I remember I'd just left my girlfriend, moved to my new pad and was watching your vids sitting on a blow up... chair 😉 I think yours was the first channel I subbed to. Your vids got me through a difficult time Chris and I still love them. Glad to see her back... enjoy!
10 years.. A decade.. holy shit. I remember when I started watching your videos Chris. I was like 23, newly single and I didn't even own a bike back then. Although I'd always wanted one. I remember binge watching all your videos, you ranting your way to and from old London town was hilarious! So much has changed in my own life since then, good to look back and appreciate it. I did a solo trip in 2018 to Barcelona to watch the F1, stopped in Paris for 3 nights beforehand and did a load of cycling tours, winebar tour, art museum tours, I met loads of people mainly *because* I was on my own, people in the groups were asking me where I was going next etc. and how cool it was to travel on your own, totally your own schedule. It taught me not to be scared of trying it and that I *can* depend on myself and that I am a half decent mechanic when needed. So I now understand why you did your solo trip, I got a lot out of mine. I met other bikers at fuel stations, cafes, anywhere and everywhere having proper hour long conversations sometimes! Good memories and I will do it again but I have more friends now who always want to come on trips with me and they don't get why I'd go alone.. I always just tell them to try it and then they'll get it. Love your videos Chris and the walking in the morning. Thanks for all the laughs over the years. Please keep doing it.
The Tour De Baron series is how I found your channel, and what made me an instant fan of yours. I can’t wait to see the 10 year reunion to Barcelona. Also, it would be awesome to see the old Suzuki freshened up a bit. She deserves some love and attention. Thanks for all the amazing videos, Chris.
cannot believe i’ve been watching bvg for a decade! this bike has so many memories attached even for me can only imagine how many you must have. very glad to see it back
In disbelief it has been 10 years since I clicked on a reddit post about, "British guy yells at traffic" or something like that. Glad to see you got the ol' girl back. You should know I have no interest in motorbikes other than being a gear head (USA) and stuck around as you have a very enjoyable personality. I've especially liked your recent posts about mental health, we need more guys to talk about it! Cheers to 10 more years, can't wait for the memories if you choose to share them!
About to buy a Gsxr 1000 again after getting rare ended 5 years ago, wasn't too bad of an accident. They always have this warm fuzzy home feeling to them for me.
Über glad your feeling better Sue!! Leave her vintage (original). Topic - Why people are selling old shit at ridiculous prices under the Vintage label??
Do not cut the footage with no sound it is great to just watch riding in new scenery ,also a series on rebuilding/renewing the front end/shocks on the mighty GSXR would be a interesting watch for many with older bikes, surely some manufacturer/supplier would support it ? You could do a before & after track day &/or longer ride ,tour to show the difference as too many put up with handling issues on older bikes instead of sorting it. Great to have you back & where did that 10yrs go ???You do not give yourself enough credit ,that bike talk you did about depression on the ride into London all those years ago was life changing for me & a couple of mates l showed it too.Bloody good stuff
Jizzy jizzy bang bang! Glad to see the old girl back congrats man. 10 years and I still enjoy watching you bang about without a purpose and shooting the shit.
Ahh man, seeing the radio greats leave the studio at radio one proper done me, both Chris Moyles and Scott Mills leave radio 1 proper killed me man!! Fuck, what a teary night I've had, Scott Mills last ever show on radio one last week was killer dude... They have both been such a huge influence and calm to my life, damn dude, the times must go on!! Chris Moyles now has a show on Radio X, Scott Mills is moving to Radio 2, but Jesus, the shit I've been through following in-between, it's just been such a mental climax to it all!!! 35 this year, and now, more than ever, does it all start to take shape and make so much sense to me! Proper been a teary farewell!! Went to see my Nan last week, she is 84 now, but just hits so hard how much water has flooded beneath that bridge!! Hope you're living life to the fullest mate! 🥰🥰
I miss the blurry parts of this video. RU-vid/cops have ruined entertainment. Keep it stock and keep it forever. A remake of the Barcelona trip is gonna be awesome. Thanks for coming back.
Early Baron on the Gixer coincided with me moving away from the UK. I binge watched all your videos to reminisce all those lovely twisty back roads around Alton. And the epic moaning and rants were a bonus, thank you.
Chris, having experience of still having my 1st "proper" bike that I did "everything" on (I bought it in 1999 new and still have it, it's been "most places", it's now my 2nd bike and semi-retired), I'd say leave it standard (fix the rear shock/clutch switch etc. obvs), so it retains the character that you bought it back for! :)
Im doing the same. CBR954.. bought a second one when the first died. Second one's mint, staying stock and mint. First one -> complete borderline street legal rebuild/mods.
Awww BVG and Chopsey, what a combo! Chris I’d love you to talk about how we find ourselves in a climate of not being able to ask anyone a question without getting made to feel you’re attacking them and why no one is allowed an opinion unless it conforms.
I keep coming back to this video, watched about 4 times now, its like a bit of time travel - back to watching your off road sesh cira 9 years ago (for me)
Awesome, so glad to see its back. I am still on my K7 750 at 41,000 miles :) Mine also has battle scars but love it to bits. Keep thinking, sell it.... don't sell it...sell it.....don't sell it.....
I haven’t watched a video in a minute, came back to see if you’d put up any new content recently and first video is this beauty back. I remember watching videos of you on this bike when i was back in uni. We’re getting old boys.
Love the rant video’s. Best one was I think it was a BMW and you called it a Dumble door or Gryffindor c-hunt 🤣 proper went into one I don’t think I have ever laughed so much I was crying 🤣. Congrats on getting the gsxr back 👏👏.
My K7 has been the most reliable bike I have ever owned, I bought it with I think around 40k kms on the clock and its now well over 130 and still goes strong, the last valve clearance (after being not checking it for 70k kms was still within spec) it has been drag raced (best time of a 10.3, I know im a bit slow) for multiple years, has been abused on the street, countless burnouts and wheelies and time at the track, and still keeps coming back for more. I now have an L7 that takes most of this abuse when possible, but this video has made me realize I need to get the K7 back on the road for some shenanigans
I’ve just come back to your vids after ages. Didn’t realise you were still going. I remember the old green lane incident, and also how good your vids are
Aaaaaaah the ciiiirrrcclllleee, the circle of liiiifeeeee. Love the perspective on the UK, so easy to forget but such an important message. Yes yes yes BIG
I say spend some money, bring her back to her former glory with some upgrades. You have so many great memories with that bike, and you clearly love it, as you should. There’s better tools for literally every job you’ve asked it to do, and it did everything you asked of it. You keep coming back because you love it. Think of it this way, it sounds like you’ve grown a lot over the last 10 years, shouldn’t she get that chance?
I learnt how to ride in London watching your videos on your commute, not ridden for 3 years after a nasty, I remember the off road gixxer, epic dude good times
Please never change this bike or yourself. Been on your journeys since the start..That bike is as big of a reason as the entertainment you bring. Well done Chris.
This has set me of on a bit of a tour of your back catalogue! I do love that Euro trip that started in the snow. I am thrilled you're contemplating an anniversary trip.
Glad to see you came back with a fresh outlook. Just get the shock done and leave it as is., nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia. I'm pretty sure you could think of something to moan about on a ride into London without our help👍
I remember when I saw my old Suzuki bandit 600 for sale in a bike shop a few years after I sold it privately and it crossed my mind to buy it again but I never did. Might have if it had been cared for like I did but it wasn't. I can't believe its nearly 10 years since that Barcelona trip. Even though I had been a police biker for years I only got back into personal biking in 2017 not having been on a bike for 17 years.
Waste some money on the old girl but to it with good taste to keep it looking standard unlike most of gixxers. I can't believe it's already 10 years. I started following you from that green lane adventure. Time flies!
I started watching the channel 10 years ago shortly before doing my CBT, and this bike is the reason why I bought a K7 1000 when I passed my full licence. Sold it a couple of years ago and regret it massively!
This bike brings out many memories about your videos. I remember what you were going through 10 years ago and now looking back, it is impressive to see how well you handled all those ups and downs in your life. Thanks for keeping us around through all of it.
This is 💯% me with my '06 CBR1000RR - that era of Japanese bikes are literally the best. Bought and sold a Ducati 1098/1198/1199s and a 2014 R1 yet my CBR1000RR is my only forever girlfriend 🖤
Topic….. Potholes It’s great to hear the Baron (solo) again. The series you done when you rode to Europe for a track event (I can”t remember where) on this bike, when you left home in the snow, was one of the inspirations to get me back into bikes. I’ve now got a gen1 KTM 1290GT 👍
Makes me realize how good of a deal I got on my K1 8yrs ago, paid $2100 US and a low end AR-15 which i had $600 into. I think shes worth $5k now. So easy to maintain and just keeps on running every spring. Had to replace fork seals 5yrs ago and needed new antifreeze overflow bottle as the original just kind of crumbled for sun exposure. Already came with a Power Commander III, K&N filter and i added a tooth to the rear as I dot think I'll need to hit 180 and I think she'll still do 170+. I did put on a 12 O'clock Labs Speedo corrector as I like to know my speed, plus it fucks up your true millage. Installed a set of Bridgestone S22 and went with 185 rear, it has added some tweak ability and i dont have chicken strips anymore. Its the Black/Silver and yellow scheme so its stands out and doesnt look like its 3 decades out design. Oh, i did have to cover the seats, the originals were splitting, i did what BVG would hate, got the ones with GSX-R 1000 in yellow panels on black, she needed more yellow accents.
this is the model i liked most from the gsxr1000 series.... it's so sharply aerodynamic 🧐.... i love this model, will buy it here in India next year....
Happy you got the Suzuki back. There is something special about older non electronic stuff bikes. As my second bike (now) I have a 2000 ZX12R that I rebuilt and did a ton of upgrades to, rides like a sweet and naughty dream... I do love my V4S but the ZX12R is just another kind of animal..
Oh yes!! You have the old gixxer back. I faint. It was your London rides on her just before your Barcelona trip that got me in to biking, or really kicked myself up the butt to finally get a motosickle.
On the question of the green lane. What made that film so compelling was the subtle spooky music that almost imperceptibly swelled up the further you got down the track.
Next time you visit Romania I recommend “Transalpina” instead of “Transfagarasan” in case you haven’t visited it. The views are similar but the road is so much better, without all the potholes and bumps. Take care✌️
