I have a neighbour who has a Gixxer K1 version. He keeps on saying he wants a new bike, but 30 min later hes trying to fix it then going with a Liverpudlian accent "Ehhheeerrrhhhh i dunnow, i might keep eiiiit, its a K1 man, its magical"...
True story: I had a mate many years ago, that only just managed to say good bye to his dieing father in hospital, due to nailing it on a GSXR. I had one too. Bloody brilliant bike that was ❤
After passing my direct access, the first "big bike" I've bought myself is a K7 GSXR 600, my dad rode one when I was growing up and I wanted one since I first saw it. Since passing my test he must've felt left out and gone and bought a K4 GSXR 1000. Bring on summer!
In 1998, I bought a TL1000R (here in the US). I fought with it for 8 years, thinking I was just a shit rider, until I test rode a new, K6 750. I was and still am a shit rider, but it was so much easier to ride, and I never looked back. I've also had an L2 1000. They were always fantastic bikes that did exhibit some cheapness in fairing thickness, cracking turn signals, etc. in 2018 I bought a new GSX-R1000R. I know it's been panned, even by Al and Chris, but I think it's the best big GSX-R ever made. It has LOADS of midrange torque, 185 whp from just a can, and it's smaller than many 600s. Best of all, it's comfortable and has some thoughtful features. The only thing I added of value, was cruise control from MC Cruise. I watched Chopsie install it, and that was it for me. It's the perfect bike, IMO. Thanks as always for the top quality content.
I’ve got an 2017 1000 that I absolutely adore. Developments in chassis technology is incredible when I ride it back to back with my k6 600. The new chassis 1k feels just as light and flickable. You definitely feel the difference in weight by the end of a track day though. I’m definitely more worn out after riding the 1k all day.
Hell of a bike for the money! Same bike basically for 8 model years. The ubiquitousness means it’s a keeper, you will always be able to get parts. Mine is a 2023 1000R. Love it 👍🏻
I had GSXR behind me yesterday and I knew it would be quicker than me but went for it anyway which was all going well until he undertook me (still OK) but then a Transit pulled out to avoid a broken down classic car. We both missed the van but was one of those heart in the mouth moments. GSXR looked great and the guy had classic leathers which seemed appropriate although probably 70's brown now.
Getting up at dawn and riding to a track day on my 1000 K5 Gixxer makes me feel truly god-like. Reality sets in shortly afterwards at about 9am, but still...what a bike it is!
Closest thing to a superpower is the moment you leave the racetrack and join the public road. Every onramp or roundabout just feels like the easiest thing in the world.
Excellent! This video has everything a biker needs, flowers, snails, genders, ages, and gsxr's. My eyes actually pixilated. 😂 One of the most enjoyable on the Tube.
I wanna thank you boys for this vid. Ive been stuck at home for 9 months suffering a BAD concussion. Cant drive, can't ride. You have brought entertainment to my day !
The embodiment of happier times, plenty of speed, mid-range, comfort, naughtiness.....I've got a tear in my eye 😢 A new Gixxer ?😍 thanks for making my day 👍🏻
New rider here with a GSXR-125, 2023 model. Best fun I've had in years, I can't imagine how the 600 to 1000cc feel but I'll be completing my DAS and then upgrading to any of those.
I've had my K1 since September 2022.I added a Brembo front brake master cylinder and Brembo front disc rotors with Venhill braided brake lines front and rear, saved a lot of weignt by installing a Shido lithium ion battery, alloy rear sets,Yoshimura tri-oval system,K and N filter and NGK Iridium R plugs.I can't ever envisage a time when I could even think about replacing it,it does everything so well.
Crashed my K6 around 10 years ago now in the Picos and it was written off. Moved onto Bimmer S1000R (rubbishe) and then Tuono 1100 V4's (great), but alway miss my Gixer. This vid brought back all the hoonery that took place back in the day and was genuinely laughing out loud from the static throttle blipping to the multiple overtakes. Fantastic vid guys. Really funny. Have to look out for that new Gixer now when it relaunches.
Getting my k7 750 fixed tomorrow after the last 'mechanic' to work on it left most of the fairing fasteners out and it basically exploded at 110km/h on the freeway. Had to push them to sort it out for me but it's finally happening. Thanks for the stellar content guys, obviously I agree with the gixxer love. See you all out there!
Great Video as always lads. The first big bike i had a go on was a 1990 gsxr 750 in 1996 when i was 16. It was a lot faster than my fizz. I'll remember that feeling of speed forever
I love this video. As a Lifetime Yamaha owner I have always appreciated the Japanese competition, GSX-R's, ZX-10's and the Fireblade's, all of my friends have had all these models from the 1980's to the present day.
I could listen to these Gents banter back and forth all day , it always make me laugh and the bikes are great too !! I have been looking at GSXRs lately myself especially the 2011 editions .....Banter on boys
Nice vid lads. I particularly like the old people B roll when winding it on. 😄 90’s to early noughties is the sweetspot for me for both cars and bikes. Analogue all the way. I value feel and interactiveness over out and out power. Plus it’s the era I passed my test in. I had a K5 GSXR750 anniversary when new with a ‘99 blade and 4XV R1. I still have a 5JJ R1 now but GSXRs are great. 😎
What a banging video. Such good content. Proper twatting about on bikes. There is no better feeling than when you ride like this (on occasions, cough), the mood clicks and boom, you feel on top of the world.
The gixxer has made it to its new home, even though the tank was empty,it is booked in for therapy after its bumhole was rodgered by two of those hooligan chaps, on its last outing but I thank you from the heart of my bottom, I love the bike and it will be looked after,,, now Cheers from Bonnie Scotland j
Many hardcore Gixxer guys were pissed that Suzuki traded the midrange of the K5/K6 in for the additional top end of the K7/K8. They also were pissed about the addition of rider modes. From K1-K6, you were considered a GOD if you could ride the big Gixxer quickly without killing yourself or highsiding it into next year. You knew back then, that if you couldn't catch the guy in front that was on a Gixxer 1000 in the twisties, it was because he could actually RIDE. No IMU, no cornering ABS, no traction control, no lift control, no "B" mode, no hydro clutch. Just skill and balls. It all explains why the K7/K8, while being slightly more powerful and faster, will always play second fiddle to the the K5/K6. The K5/K6 was the last fully analogue 1000 Suzuki ever made.
Well said fella, I've had 2 K5 Thou's couldn't agree more, opening that throttle while cranked over you could just feel the edge of traction, and knew if you went too far it would kill you, brilliant bike, I'd have another K5/6 Thou tomorrow over any newer bike.
Had my K2 1000 for 8 years now. I remember opening the MCN double page spread on the Gsxr thou in 2001. Now I own my dream bike. What a machine! Cracking content guys😂 pmsl
One of my favorite bikes I ever had, an ‘02 GSXR 1000. Rode it all over Spain and raced it in the CEV. The tech inspector laughed because it was mostly stock and I’m not a small guy (6’3”, 235) and I qualified (admittedly dead last, but I made the grid!).
Love the vid! I had a K4 thou back in about 2006, had it for quite a few years, wish I’d bought a K5/K6 but never did, took one for a test ride and I remember thinking WOW this is a frikin beast !! 🤣👍
Great film guys. Should do more stuff on the classic sports bikes . I got a k7 1000 and love how even after 17 years it is stil a great all round package. In fact as more years go by and bikes become more tech loaded, the gixxer will remind people of what sports bikes used to be like
I started riding motorcycles back in 1997 on a 1996 GSX-R 750 blue & white SRAD. I now have a 2008 GSX-R 750 black on black and I still enjoy it every time I ride it. I've ridden it twice on COTA and have a third track event coming up this September.
Glorious stuff, I ride these roads all the time, used to commute from Pompey to Upper Farringdon everyday on my blade but now got a k1 thou just like this one 🤘🏻.
Late 80's early 90's the gixxer 750 was the only superbike to have. Obviously slow by today's standards but back then nothing could touch them, not even the 1100 - yeah in a straight line maybe but I'd be round the outside of them on the next bend giggling nervously in the face of the grim reaper. I migrated to a 750L in 1990 from an '85 500LC and was absolutely astounded what 5 years had done to bikes. Went on to an M the year after, wrote it off then stepped down to an RGV250 before back on another M then in ´95 bougt a 916 and have only had ducs since then... Nostalgia is kicking in now tho and wouldn't mind another L in the shed... Great bikes gixxers, lots of mad mad fond memories.
My K6 was the best bike I ever had. Should never have sold it. Was beautiful, powerful and so easy to ride even I managed to get into the 1.40s at Almeria. I’ve had every S1000RR since and only ever gone slower.
Have an L0, remapped, decat, cf Yoshi cans, and BST cf wheels in the garage. Was planning on selling it next month, as it doesn't really get ridden much anymore... but this video has got me seriously reconsidering.
Feeling the lurve! My K3 1000, affectionately known as Slaggy, gets rinsed by the new sports bikes on track but bang for buck it's hard to beat for grins .... and cheap to repair 👍
Awesome gents. As an ex Australian Superbike Team Suzuki racer predating all the modern tech nannies there are two arguments here. The naughties ones in full race spec made more power than what a brand new stock one does. Yet still rideable. Just one reason why arguably one of the best racers on two wheels decided to retire early in his career. I’m speaking of Casey Stoner who was against having all the electronic rider aids which has always made me think if they didn’t would Marquez be regarded as high as he is if his bulk of racing was without them. We will never know. You can go back further to the Big Bang days. I’ve been fortunate enough to have ridden one around Phillip Island, my old home track, and although I know it well, the last of the 500 two strokes were an absolute handful which is why that generation was unbelievable!
I recently switched to a 2004 GSXR1K from a 2015 CBR650F after having a riding hiatus of 15 years and although I loathe the riding position the bike is absolutely batshit crazy!
Loving all the gsxr love recently. Would be interesting to see you take out the k8 and a new gsxs 1000 (naked) out to see how much of that simple, raw old school feeling you can get.
Entertaining vid chaps. I had a new GSX750 K6 & it was the best bike I've ever owned. It was £7749 OTR. Those were the days. Fingers crossed for a new GSXR1000. Rumours suggest it may have a shift-cam type system but in true Suzuki style it's more likely going to be a tarted up version of the last one. If they give it a decent dash, better electronics & brakes & make it a bit lighter, that'll do nicely as it doesn't really need any more power.
It's Gixxer Brah! I know I used to own a 1000K4 😂 and there is plenty of life in the GSXR old Girl cause it just spank every other manufacturer in 24 hours of Le Mans 2024!! My K4 was a superb motorcycle for everything I wanted to do -track days ✅ -1000miles in 24 hours through Europe comfortable ✅ -bulletproof reliability ✅ (except regular) -absolute hoot on a Sunday blast ✅ Ps the reason why GSXR look more used than R1s or Fireblades because GSXR are used all year round! Plus because they were cheepish to buy people didn't properly care for them. Epick Video Boy. Ps I'm still checking used bike offers because I want my yellow and black 1000K4 with an Akrapovic exhaust and an up only quickshifter - because Gixxer Brahs know how to blip the throttle on the way down ⬇️🎤
I have an L6, which I love. Low end and mid-range is surprisingly good for such a tall-geared bike. I do all my own maintenance and it's utterly reliable. I've spend money upgrading the brakes and suspension and couldn't be happier with it.
Love the GSX-R's!!! Have mine dressed in a few anodized bits and a blue screen (flavor of the day) for nights on the town but all her original parts are still mint :)
I've had several gixxers over the years and absolutely love them. They are just a solid, reliable bike with all the power you could possibly want and look awesome to boot plus they're still very affordable.
K7 with the twin arrows is such a great look a loved mine I started with the 600 s rad then a k7 750 k7 1000 and had the L6 anniversary model they were all great bikes
