Hi everyone! Welcome back to another room reveal. This week I am showing you the loft renovation we did as part of our five month house renovation project. We turned the newly built top floor into our main bedroom, ensuite and office area. Im sharing the design process, mistakes we made, hurdles we came across (head height!), and how we furnished the room. I worked with my faves at West Elm (AD) and the Kingston Design Studio to help me create the perfect light and airy yet cosy bedroom for us. Ive linked everything below. Loved seeing your finished bedroom. It's truly beautiful and so restful, I love all of it. I knew you'd end up making it the master bedroom. I also adore your office space, so light and airy and love that you also have a dressing table area. Don't think I could live without a wardrobe though. Think I'd have to build one in where your chest of drawers is. Ps - Loving the new haircut.

LOVE what you have done with the ceiling in your loft spaces. I know some of the decisions were made out of necessity but you've created a really interesting design feature and it looks fab. Oh and I agree, you always regret not having enough power outlets but never regret having too many. Amazing job you and your builders have done. X

Jess, it is looking wonderful. You could still add a wardrobe ?with sliding doors for hanging space with shoe storage, where you currently have the chest of drawers. Perhaps then move the chest of drawers to the opposite side - it looks as if might fit there? Do you have room for shallow under bed storage boxes?

thanks so much! wow sliding doors is such a good shout I didnt even think of that! we tried the chest of drawers the other side and it looks very squeezed but it wouldn't be the end of the world If we became desperate for more storage up here.

Beautiful space😍 I can imagine it feels like your sanctuary on top of the world, so cozy and calming☺️ isn't there the chance to maybe have small built in wardrobes next to the entry to the en-suite with a few shelves and maybe these hanging rods that go 'out of the wall' instead of parallel to the wall maybe for a small everyday assortment of clothes?🙃 Congrats on getting through the renovation ☺️ love from hamburg, germany 🎄

Great video! Please explain what you meant by “you should always have 4 light sources in a room…interior design rule”? What are those sources in your room? Or do you mean light at 4 levels-pot lights, chandelier, lamps?? Please explain what you meant, what exactly that rule is and how you followed that rule. 🙏🏻😃Thank you!! 👍😉

hehe its an interior design rule ive seen mentioned on interior design shows, in blogs and in books. Basically to create different moods in the room. The main themes are: Ambient, Task, Accent and Decorative. So for example in a kitchen ambient would be the spot lights that light the whole room evenly, task would be the illuminated strip lighting we have under the shelf so you can see what you're washing up by the sink or prepping food etc, the accent light would be our ceiling pendant that draws focus onto the island and the decorative lighting would be our wall lights that it above our shelf that just kinda look pretty and competent how we've accessorised / decorated the self. Ive also seen people say you don't need to tick off all 4 of the themes but creating our different of options of light in a room will give off different vibes because it would always be different types of lighting. Also in my opinion low level lighting / side lights etc are much better than main ceiling light that are quite harsh and bright. hope this helps 😘😘
