Honestly, as someone who has listened to his show, this is part of his act. His schtick is that Michael is the petty one of the 3.

I was a Boston Red Sox fan living the New York metro area from the mid 80s until the early 2000s and Michael Kay's Yankee homerism was legendary. He's said things like- "Pedro Martinez isn't an Ace and should never be on an All-Star team", "Derek Jeter is the greatest shortstop in MLB history", "Roger Clemens is the type of person I'd never want on my ball club"... until Clemens became a Yankee. His signature homer call, which goes something like "It is far! It is blah! ... SEE YA!" is maybe the worst in MLB history..

Honestly it’s a bit. I think Micheal Kay can care less in real life. But it creates controversy and interest from the viewers.

In fairness, compared to the Mets booth ALL announcers are bad. Cohen, Darling, and Hernandez are easily the best of all teams. And I say that as an NL west fan who generally roots against big market NYC teams like the mets. They just understand the game more. They will respecfully criticise criticise their own players or front office if they deserve it, and they will also respectfully applaud any good plays from the opposition. And of course they have a deep understanding of what being an MLB player is actually like compared to most announcers cause...you know. They were lol. They are fair and well informed, and really quite entertaining as well. More teams broadcasters should be like them.

As a braves fan, what is so good about the Mets broadcast is that they would be honest if their broadcast was as awful as the Yankees. They would straight up call themselves out for it not get threatened by some stupid commercial

I used to listen to the Michael Kay show years ago. He's had way bigger blowups than this. You'd never realize the other side of his personality from just watching games, this is tame for him. He really is focused on getting as high of ratings for his radio show in an embarrassing way.

Baseball is competitive. I want YES to think the Yankees are number one and SNY to think the Mets are number one. If you're part of an organization you gotta be all about your team and I think we all have a bit of wiggle room for our own team's booth being a bit biased at times

The biggest issue with this whole thing is take the Mets booth they are ehh I say 2 trillion times better then any current booth in baseball. For years I said that if the Cardinals didn't have the booth they had, I'd want the Mets' announcers. If there's a better booth, I haven't seen enough of their games to judge. That said, I do feel a smidge of sympathy for Kay on this.

There will never be a unanimously agreed upon best booth. It’s like pizza, where everyone has their own preference. I like the Mets booth more than the Yankees but my all time favorite was Remy and Orsillo

Mets broadcast team is low key hilarious. Im not a Mets fan but Ive watched a couple games and I found them really entertaining. They joke a lot, dont take anything super seriously. And they're honest. Im just down with their vibe. Kay is being way too sensitive here.

This isn't about announcing. This was his radio show. In game he doesn't do this. He's a very good announcer, who was made to look great when partnered with Bobby Murcer and Ken Singleton. But he's still very good at what he does. The radio show is a completely separate thing from him as an announcer.

I'm a lifelong Yankee fan who started listening to Michael Kay call games (with John Sterling) around 1995, so I have a good amount of nostalgia listening to him. That said, I can't honestly disagree with this video - he is rather immature, or at least overly focused on himself.

I'm a diehard Phillies fan but you gotta give credit where its due the Mets broadcast team is excellent. Personally I love Don Orsillo cause hes hilarious but Mets are top notch in the booth.

The Mets broadcasters are some of the best in baseball. Even fans from other teams like them. As a Sox fan, there’s no beating Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy, but the SNY guys just seem like standup people that don’t just love their team; they are fair and tell it like it is. IMO, since Don left NESN and Jerry has passed, I believe the Mets broadcast team is currently No 1 in the country.

Michael is a legend and his game broadcasts with Coney and Paul are special. I could listen to them during any NYY blowout loss. I guess haters are just gonna hate.
