His acting is impeccable. Homelander requires so much range, particularly in facial expressions. Antony Starr is one of the absolute best actors I've ever seen in a tv show.
Can we just talk about how great Antony Starr was in this scene. I think he carries the entire show more or less right now. His subtle facial expressions here make him appear like he's hiding his pain and suffering from his childhood, while at the same time longing for actually living the lie he's telling. Brilliant actor
His facial acting is on another level. It’s not easy to do, either. He really does deserve all the love and recognition he gets for his portrayal of Homelander. He’s great in Banshee too but his expressions as Homelander are unreal.
"It was perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details." "WOOOOOOHHHH!" "It's the biggest piece of dogshit." "I mean its alright like." "THAT'S WHY HE'S THE GOAT! THE GOAT!"
Me bein positive and isolated at home eating snacks all day while laying on bed watching yt and listenning to some old ass japanese songs that im re listenning to rn.... 😭 The world has changed alot
I still think anthony starr needs an award for the entirety of the show. He is legit one of the most terrifying villians EVER. whether its the scene where hes telling the girl to jump, telling starlight to release the footage, this, or any, he is so unstable and you have no idea when hell snap
Even in this video where for once in his pathetic life he is not bullying, threatening anyone or just losing his mind in general i *still* feel terrified of him. How the fuck does Anthony Starr do it?
@@Da1337Man antony starr has this really cool thing he does with homelander where everytime he, let's say, smiles, he doesn't just "smile". theres a million different subtle ways he contorts his face to make the smile look uncanny. for example here, his eyes are dead, expressionless, while when people genuinely smile, their eyes usually "close" a bit more. now mix that with the fact that his lips are compressed and tight, and that you can see, for a brief millisecond, a sneer in his nose which shows disgust, and you get the terrifying stare down of homelander even though he isn't really doing anything. stuff like this is what makes starr's performance so special.
I remember back then everyone shat on 2016 and were eager for it to end because a lot of tragedies, deaths of good people and bad things overall happened around the world. But me describing how 2016 was to me personally:
Looking back at the games from the early 2010’s (just a couple examples at the top of my head: Black Ops 1, Black Ops 2, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Arkham City, Halo Reach, Titanfall, Red Dead Redemption, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mortal Kombat 9, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto 5, Far Cry 3, Portal 2, Dark Souls, The Last of Us, and a lot of sports games [the early-2010’s was an amazing era for sports games, my favorites being NHL 14 and NCAA Football 14]) like…
I think it’s amazing how you can tell when homelander is acting and when he’s not. Like the actual actor playing homelander doesn’t feel real it just feels like homelander is a real person
I think that in general, the reason which makes Anthony Starr a sweet fit for Homelander is his smile. Whether his lips bend up or down, his eyes always convey an unstable madness.
"i mean it's alright like...." "WOOOOOOOO!!" "THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! THAT'S WHY HE'S THE M.V.P!! THAT'S WHY HE'S THE G.O.A.T. THE GOOOOOAAAAT!!"
