Unlike Homelander, Frank had the absolute luxury of his suffering actually ending within seconds as his nerve endings got destroyed and sensation lost. Homelander. Nope, he felt everything, and he didn’t stop feeling it. He never got the sweet relief of burnt away nerve endings, or even death. Its unknown how long they put him in there for.

There wouldn't have been any pain. His nerve endings at that point would have been seared away. Or, if there *was* pain, it would be psychological (a-la Phantom pain)

Homelander is the example of Monsters aren't born, they are created. If he had actually been raised in a proper environment he would have been the best hero the world had, but he wasn't. He was poked, tortured, and subjected to all kinds of horror that made him the monster he is now.

It’s also why there is such a huge disconnect between him and Ryan. Unlike John, Ryan has experienced being cared for and loved by others which is why he is able to view other humans as living beings and is distraught about their deaths. Meanwhile John can’t view them as anything more than fragile toys.

If it were possible to create superhumans like Homelander, you'd think that some of the scientists involved might just question the wisdom of running brutally cruel tests on them as children. You know, bearing in mind that they're _super-powered_ and will be adults one day, with memories of all the horrible things that were done to them growing up.

Any outcome resulting in such horrifyingly gruesome and agonizing deaths cannot be said to have worked out "pretty well" just because the very, very predictable determination to exact revenge took a long time to materialize. "Pretty well" is avoiding -- not delaying, but _avoiding_ -- such a horrific outcome.

It’s crazy when you realize Father and Son was being tortured and experimented on at the same time. Homelander with Vought and Soldier Boy with the Russians. Poor Ryan has it cut out for him in the mental health department. Hopefully he’ll be able to finally break the cycle.

I think Frank really choose the worst words he had to offer with saying "I was just doing my job" I dont think Homelander would have let him go if he apologized from the start, but I believe he would have just lasered him which would have been a mercy compared to him getting burned alive.

Those scientists were just heartless. How wasn't he not begging for forgiveness before he got in the oven. He practically showed zero resistance. Honestly should've seen it coming from a mile away. I probably would've at least tried apologizing much earlier. Homelander even explained how traumatizing the experience was and the dude had "zero" sympathy. At the end of the day he got what he deserved.

The crazy part is that I can kind of understand Homelander in a twisted way. These were essentially school bullies to him growing up. If someone had the power to go back and torment the people that caused them years of trauma and nothing could stop you, they’d probably do it too.
