In the comics, Homelander did try to save the plane. Didn't go well. Tried to hold the wing, he ripped it off. Tried to stop the plane from falling, he went straight through the hull and split it in half.

@@lilveltheplayer2164 In actuality, he could've tried. Granted, he won't save a lot of them, but he could pass it off as a valiant effort out of a doomed situation. The problem was that Homelander cared about his image as the perfect hero, so he didn't even try. In the comics, he tried but couldn't control his strength (which sounds dumb sometimes but very plausible).

I don't think that was only about witnesses either. I mean, a terrorist shot the pilots, not Homelander. Yeah, he fried the plane's controls but nobody would be able/allowed to dig it up evidence in the wreckage. So, survivors wouldn't be credible enough to blame him for the crash. However, it'd be a blow to their reputation big time - since two most famous Supes were present on the plane but managed to save only a couple of people. Thus, Homelander decided to let everyone die and make it look he and Maive were never there.

Loved the reaction but just wanted to answer the physics question: Say you can jump 5mph in the upwards direction, until gravity pulls you back to earth. If a plane is falling towards the water at 200 mph, and at the last second you jump, you have a speed of 5mph upwards relative to the plane, but you’re still falling at a net speed of 195 mph relative to the ground. Unless you can jump at the speed of a 747, you’d still probably die from the impact

Inertia my man...if u r moving in a car or plane in this case, u will have the same speed as the plane even if u jump out of it....ur body will try to keep that velocity. So splat on the water at 300 miles per hour. Boom
