People always say that homeless people spend money on drugs instead of food. What about rich people that can afford drugs and food. Double standard. Drugs are more expectable to rich people
Thank you for sharing their stories. We all needed help one time or another in our lives and we had friends and family to rely on, but they don't. Lending them a hand when we can is a humane thing to do.
Not enough churches or empty buildings or caring or compassion. @ In Chicago one tent City. It started off as one. American Exceptionalism. Everyone has a solution-and yet-not. No water or bathrooms. A revolution of the heart
I'll frequently buy homeless people, specifically downtown Chicago homeless men and women meals from any restaurant, mostly just Mcdonalds, Subway, Burger King, at the end of our meal he or she will leave with a library of resources from state resources (food stamps, medicaid applications) to where to go to obtain warm clothing in order to survive our harsh winters.
What an amazing video that really made me think. I got nothing no money no job because I live with and take care of my mom. But I'm a happy person because in my eyes I'm rich. It's all thanks to God. I live in a house and have food every day. God is good
Free mental help hospitals is what we need ,I housed a homeless lady but she chose to stay on drugs ,she would walk all night and not eat for days .is mental health hospitals ,some people are to traumatized to want to have a normal job even with skills . I contacted her daughter and told her that her mother needed drug addiction help ,the daughter refused to believe that her mother was on Kristal meth ,the mother showed all the signs .free mental hospitals please. Please protect the children ,be careful what you do to them ,is better to tie a rope, one end to your neck and the other to a giant rock and throw it in the middle of the ocean ,nothing compare to when the laws of life ,take a hold of you.
Im homeless cus the owner is selling the building an raising rent. Im only on SSI but I been helping the homeless for years. Unless your in the right situation SSI is only 1 step away from being homeless. Im lucky. A kind friend is letting me stay with her. But Im lucky I have SSI cus I pay her rent. Im on some lists for low income housing. I can stay with her till I get a apt. So Im blessed. I talk to lot a homeless people an give them money when I can. Sometime we pray together an we cry together. Everyone deserve a place to live.

I'm confused about this statistic 5k only .If they do the survey by driving and counting the people they see or the people they ask if their homeless or do they count the people in a shelter because just because your in a shelter your still homeless .No way it's just 5k did they go to the hideouts in the south side were homeless are hiding by the expressway or in the vacant buildings .
Thanks for posting.. I've been looking at any and every thing related to the Chicago homeless. I'm looking for a missing you man who may be homeless in the Chicago area (Fredrick James Workman). I would greatly appreciate it if you would google him and look at his missing person's flyer.
There are shelters in Chicago. PGM. CORNERSTONE, Safehaven, 10 South Zedzie will help. People must work at the program and they will get their housing.
