Homeless man stabbed Bus Driver on Venice Beach suspect in custody 

It’s frustrating seeing all the ppl who blindly believe that homeless are innocent victims of circumstance. In reality the vast majority are addicts who refuse the plethora of resources available cuz they don’t want to give up their drugs or take on any normal adult responsibilities to provide for themselves. They also have to burn a lot of bridges to have no family or friends to stay with. I hope the driver makes it, it’s insane what they have to deal with just trying to do their job. All buses should have a bullet proof case to protect the driver’s area, and the drivers should be allowed to carry a gun to protect themselves and others from the addicts and nutters.

The majority of homeless in LA are out of their heads on drugs and many also have chronic mental illnesses - some which pre-dated their addictions. It's not just people down o their luck begging for food. This is a whole different thing

​@@mrs.h2725people mainly become addicts due to serious trauma. It's not just a case of saying they won't accept help as oftentimes, regardless of how good or extensive available help is, people aren't yet mentally able to move on.

I am a disabled older woman and I am afraid to ride the bus. What is the solution? I think we need undercover cops on buses but that takes extra man power and money. Although I wonder, Marijuana dispensaries bring in a lot of tax money in Vegas so what is that money being used for??? We need more shelters, mental health centers, rehabilitation centers and especially police patrols on buses.

What's sad is that in lots of urban areas, the public is generally on its own, no knights in shining armor to come to the rescue. Worse of all, the knights (or good guys) will be treated like the bad guys, the bad guys will be treated like (if not the good guys) the guys who need a tap on the shoulder, a pat on the head

Not anytime soon. Venice is a neighborhood of LA. For the city of LA the homeless population increases 11% up to over 52000. For the county which also includes this it's over 82000
