Homeless people in B.C. struggling in deep freeze temperatures 

The news never highlight your average Joe getting up and going to work and paying their bills and being accountable for their life.

The Google story on immigration and refugee costs in Canada prove why this happens as do the poor employment practices lack of rent caps and Government ignorance. Make it an emergency and see how fast they turn tail. Canadians first and vote for change!

I have not gone out in a while, but I have the itch to do so lol I didn't get to go out last year because of work (covid frontline worker) I haven't been able to go out this year for the same reason. I may just set up my gear on the front yard, I have a couple of tall pine trees just far enough from each other to set up a ridgeline! Though my wife thanks I'm crazy, and has a concern about rules regarding having a campfire in the city lol My brother thanks we should glamp it this year by using a hot-tent, but I feel that is cheating O_o

@@2bRealist Yes people go winter camping for fun , people who have warm homes and who have the money and ability to get the proper gear , supplies , knowledge etc . That is very different than being homeless with mental health issues , medical issues , drug/alcohol issues etc at -50 during a pandemic to boot.

Keeping dry, staying warm and buying cheap food arnt that difficult..but considering I work 5 days a week, for the sake of the customers, god damn I need a bath 🤣

There are warning stations and places to get food but that's an all day endeavor..one way to keep warm but depressing if you're try to schedule a job around it.

Her name is either Anita or Ineda but I heard I need a bath too and can't get the irony out of my head now.

A lot of it is self-inflicted with drug and alcohol problems. No matter how many times you try to help them,many fall back to the same trap.

They will only use a house for drugs. They’re beyond help.

That was never true. There were always people who fell through the cracks, who society failed to care for. As for the supposed difference in generations, WWII veterans came back home to a complete lack of care for their PTSD and injuries - it's part of the reason why the Legions were founded. They protested for better government care. People have always needed care greater than that they can give themselves. We just aren't taught about the poor and homeless of recent history in our schools.

It's the same here in Northern BC...soooo cold..... our homeless folks are dying... but we are All represented in BC by Vancouver unfortunately.

They are on the street, because housing supply is artificially low, not because they are doing something wrong.

There are 12 beds for men in the local homeless shelter. Any more would break COVID rules. There are considerably more for women and children, but still not enough. There are around 75 homeless people locally. Bigger cities have worse numbers. Are you going to magically make more shelters appear, or just shout at homeless people for not doing better? ... :)
