Minnesota group helping homeless during bitter cold 

Doesn't Minneapolis have a billion dollar empty stadium the taxpayers helped build that these people could crash at?

I’m here in MN, lived here my entire life. My heart is so heavy for all the brothers and sisters SLEEPING OUTSIDE!! It’s so cold, so cold. Lord have mercy, please. We need affordable housing. The wait lists are years and years long, if u get it. I’m still waiting for affordable housing for my daughters and myself. I’ve been on a list for 10 years, 10 years. The need for housing is NOW. Lord, please send help to those outside, please. I’m praying for change. God Bless

I'd really like to know how my family and I can help. Please, someone, let me know. I'd love to offer our home but know that's not safe. I feel absolutely awful for everyone outside. My husband and I give the few bucks we have on us whenever we see someone asking for it..just wish no one had to live this way when more than enough people have far more than they truly need. I'm so sorry I can't bring everyone what they need..I'd gladly do so. May god bless each and every soul in need and may he keep them in his eternal warmth.

the us government should first address its own problems before falsely accusing other countries of human rights abuse.

State pays over 900.00 per person to house a homeless person in a addiction group home. Thats more then you get from renting out a home per person in mn. You can get a grant to buy the grupe home and be the landlord.

Parents need to raise children who value themselves enough that they do whatever it takes to keep a roof over their heads. When you cater to and normalize homelessness, it explodes like we are seeing today.

I was born in Minneapolis I know how cold Minnesota gets. It's a horrible thing to have people sleeping on the streets.

I suffer from Depresion and body pain and i live in a home.I couldnt imagine living homeless for any peiord of time.I would just want to just die.

It was -36 on Friday with a Wind Chill of -55 How in the hell can people live outside in this weather? It’s so wrong and unbelievable that we allow this to happen to anyone. If anyone say a stray dog out in that weather they would feel terrible and would take it in their home but we let humans just try to tough it in weather that can kill you within minutes if not protected enough with the right clothes and shelter.

Really? Not one link offered up to donate to this cause? What exactly was the point of raising awareness of not to try to drive funds to this organization who’s out there doing what most of us aren’t???

Minnesota has how many empty abandoned buildings this is a shame that we come to this and can't even help our fellow neighbors even if they're not your neighbors you're supposed to help each other that's why we're here until human beings have understanding we will always have pride is sinful we're supposed to help each other without color being a issue without anything else being issue use the empty building we must do better people

Been homeless. Slept on park benches. Ate out of dumpsters. Been there done that. Most of these people don't want to help themselves. As long as they can steal and take advantage of people thinking they are just unfortunate people down on their luck, they will. Don't put in more effort than they are willing to put in. Giving them free stuff they haven't earned is just enabling them to mooch off taxpayer programs. Force them to help themselves.

The state fails Minnesotans everyday in allowing this to continue. The state government could help, but it doesnt.

I live in Twin Cities Minnesota also around 30 miles south of Minneapolis , MN . The winters have become so brutal that on the advice of my health care team I fly to Florida or California and spend winters in warmer weather since 2012 I have been spending the winters in California so I feel for the homeless back home in Minnesota, some times I don't even stay home in the summers after I had flown into Minneapolis (MSP) International Airport I just lodge at The 934th Air Lift Wing U.S. Air Force Base in Minneapolis when my annual physical and dental is done I fly back to California since we are in a Covid-19 Pandemic now they allow private doctors in California to do our annual physical & dental and forward it to Minnesota now I'm missing home in Minnesota & dreaming of my next trip home so I can spend time with the U.S. Air Force Staff 934th Air Lift Wing on The International (MSP) Airport Grounds . Don't get me wrong Southern California is Great and the Ocean Bay is right across the street from our residence lodge but no matter how great a state is away from home there is No Place Like Home.

What happened to the building downtown that got converted (supposedly) to shelter for homeless?

😥 It makes me sad that so much can be spent on sports etc. But we have people that will freeze to death this winter.

THIS SITUATION HAPEN IN NORTH AMERICA HOME LESS PEOPLE AND THEY CRITICIZED VENEZUELA WEN VENEZUELA IS BUILDING ALREADY 3 MILLION HOMES FOR THE HOME LESS. THIS IS INSANE.

No home to cook a hot meal or some hot coco, but they all gets foodstamps. So sad!😞😥 Thats why sometimes they have no choice but to sells it so they can get a hotel room for a nite.🙏

These comments are disgraceful. Wonderful story. Im sure how many here have experienced having no where to go. I have a mother and a sister that are mentally ill and they chose to live on the streets. During a pandemic. This solution is multi facet. We Could use the stadium our team doesn't win in, we can use churches that gives food for our neighbors and hope in a risen savior. We can use our homes etc. Have you thought about who is going to supervise and keep all our homeless neighbors safe in these places? Where is the money to pay people to work and put there lives on the line to supervise and help in shelters etc? Its not just that easy, but we need to put all these brains together to help people. It will always be the poor and we all are obligated to do something. In the long term. I wish to help my family on the streets. I don't have the resources and if I did,, I can't lock them in a room. Some of yawl need to get yourselves.

It's about the banks and mortgage payments on affordable housing..with skyrocketing prices in real estate..ppl are being charged a premium to live in residences. Bring the cost of living down by bringing down the cost of housing. Habitat for Humanity.

Homeless don't have a phone or television. How do they know where to get help? Stupid. Someone need to pass out the letter to let those Homeless know otherwise No one know what's going on.

While many freeze in cold, charities are getting rich and not doing one damn thing for most, homelessness pays well, otherwise they wouldn't be out begging for bucks,everyday, that's charities today

I surely see this country is declining so badly. How people still saying this the greatest country? Look how many tents are setting up in California and many major cities? If we don’t recognize the problems, how can we solve the problems? I don’t like redistribution of wealth, but last year while many companies and workers are suffering or declining in wealth, some how the some richest people stills doubled their wealth. That’s something wrong there.

They have had a year to prepare, a bus ticket to south Florida from New York is under $100.. That's a lot for someone w/ nothing, but if they go a little each month, that's $20 a month in 5 months they would be in Florida where they can fish for food and not freeze to death.. I'd gladly give them a $100 if I was sure they didn't but drugs...
