I told him not to go but to put the money on his mortgage which is still very high. He just makes excuses. He thinks he is Frugal but he eats lunch out everyday. Exactly. And she's manipulative to boot! It's only now that she suddenly grows a heart and wants to declare her sister a mental case to control her.

She cares about her sister and wants to help her, and I am sure it doesn't affect her children in any way. My sister is schizophrenic and (when having an episode) has done and said nasty things, but we still try to help her. It's easy to walk away from the mentally ill, or write them off, which is why so many end up on the streets.

That’s actually not funny. I am betting you something really bad did happen to that twin. It’s not normal for someone to end up that way out of the whole family. She may have been sexually assaulted or some other sort of trauma in early childhood and never got help.

Honestly, personality disorders can be controversial. And the beliefs, behaviors and patterns that are deemed problematic can be related to trauma. I still think it's important to have boundaries and not put up with abusive behavior. But, I'm not convinced slapping personality disorder labels on people is always helpful. Even more so when their behavior is odd rather than abusive. Like I don't blame "schizoid personality disorder" people for being loners. If they can be happy that way, it might actually be a superpower in a world that contains narcissists.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this too. I pray for better solutions. Mental health issues in our country do not receive the resources that are so desperately needed. Stay strong and know that my prayers are with you.

I talk to my mom's doctor but they were no help. They don't really like to deal with my mom because she is a hand full. They told me they could not force my mom to take their help. My mom decided to move out. I am not sure where she is staying and she will not tell me. I did invite her over for Thanksgiving, but she spent most of the time sleeping. We didn't have much interaction. She has become like a stranger. All I can do is pray for her because she has rejected my help.

How did this turn out? I"m curious. Asking for a friend who is in a similar situation.

Thank you. The money was gone very quickly and she's close to rock bottom but she wants someone to bail her out, again. Unfortunately our Dad usually did and in the process he was enabling her. She will have to really hit rock bottom and make serious changes to turn her life around.

Y'all have clearly never had to deal with someone with a mental illness. You don't give them large resources at one time to potentially put themselves in even worse situations. If you listened, you have heard that she had been giving her money before and it didn't help. Besides the conversation was to basically have someone manage her money not split it between the rest of the siblings.

And likely drugs as well. Love DR but a pastor isn’t a professional, and even a therapist can’t correct a chemical imbalance from the outside.

Lindalee Law I have a sister with schizophrenia, in this almost same situation. We want to help her but there’s absolutely no helping her. I have watched her squander her inheritance... it’s a sad situation. We want the best for her but she cannot make good choices for herself and refuses to listen to a word we advise her. I've personally known a number of people who fell into both camps.. Yes, it is frustrating when you see people lazily and shamelessly milking it.
