Being homeless is a nightmare I was homeless for 3 years in a car with 3 dogs and an abusive husband. Got rid of the husband me and my dogs have a place to live now life is good. Never give up! Not everyone is on drugs an alcoholic or mentally ill. There are alot of shady homeless peoole like she talked about. The cops constantly harrass you no place to sleep at night. We were in Las Vegas
My heart breaks for you both. It's a sad, evil world we live in and we all must make the right decision on whom we associate with. I hope you both find God before it's too late.
I see the solution to many problems would be a universal basic income (UBI) of $1000 per month paid to everyone over eighteen tax free for life. People would not receive a UBI in jail. Mental illness and addiction have a genetic cause but what causes the most problems is antisocial personality disorder which is basically an inability to feel anxiety so they have little or no conscience. To pay for a UBI we will need to introduce a value added tax which would tax human and machine production equally.
Kind hearted people are not fools. They just keep on forgiving again and again because they pity the person who hurt them. Hope she'll always have peace, joy, happiness and a kindhearted person like herself to talk with.❤
This is why I would want to get an RV that is converted. If it comes with a business painted on the outside nobody would know what it really is. Then you just go to where you want to sleep for the night and stay quiet, lights off, do not draw attention.
I do like how she was honest and said no, nothing is wrong with these people, they are mentally sane, they just aren’t good people. You cannot always say well someone is just mentally challenged because they robbed someone. No they know better, they just don’t care.
She should think about getting a job in the nonprofit sector. Someone would likely hire her as she's good with people, well spoken, has a broad range of experience, seems reliable, and definitely employable.
Wow. So many of your experiences are so familiar; am pretty sure I know some of the feelings. Your statements regarding those feelings are so spot on and folks should consider that each person is different and further how things could severely impact them. My own was betrayal...ugly betrayal by someone I trusted for years and had his back in ways above and beyond. Was down for him and put myself out there only to be sold out for money. Only one of us is real and it isn't Eric Donaldson of La Habra / Auburn Cali either. But he is a liar, thief and never takes personal responsibility for anything. Everyone is disposable to him. Drugs don't make people do dirt. They only bring to the surface the filth that was buried inside and hidden all along. Good people don't get grimey. Period.
I love that Helimah used the stimulus money as an opportunity to provide a semi-safe place to stay rather than waste it like many people did. Her heart is beautiful and her positive energy is magnetic. She's a brave soul, getting back up when life knocks her down. I applaud her character and pray that God will Bless her life from this day forward. 💜 🙏🏾 😇
I am in the same situation as she is and I like the idea of finding a person who would let me park on their property and pay them. I'm going to work on finding a place to park thanks for the idea it never crossed my mind because I started to feel like everyone disliked people in RVs and wouldn't give them a chance
@@nastyn8te328 the sad thing is that one of our local communities outlawed that, without much consideration of the fact that this might be a lifeline for people.

i agree for most times. sometimes being an ass is to protect yourself . when you are surrounded by people who only respect violence and power but nothing else .
I’m so sorry for the loss of her mom and the situation that put her where she is! It’s very common for people to be their parents caregivers and when they pass, they are left homeless. Keeping her in our prayers! And she has a great positive attitude, which goes far in life!
"Money does not make you who are. It's how you act, that makes you the person you are". This woman is soo insightful and positive. I really hope her situation is improved.
Luke 12:15 King James Version 15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth
This lady is already living in heaven because she is full of love and truth. May she live in peace and prosperity forever. Much love and respect to her.
I absolutely love this lady! She’s extremely intelligent with a really good heart. She’s the kind of stranger I would meet and end up talking to for hours. I hope things work out for her because her attitude and outlook on life are top tier! 💖
RV's and campers are a LOT of work! I was homeless for 10yrs. How well I know about the 2am door knocks! Wish u all the LOVE, safety, peace and warmth in the world!
You can stay on an LTVA which stands for long-term visitors area with your RV or van in Yuma or Quartzsite Arizona for about 6 months a year for only $180.
@@lrajek3389 If I were her, I think I would work a while, save up some money and then see how far east or southeast I would go. I would not live in LA a minute longer than I had to. I'd stop when the RV broke down or when I ran out of money and find another safe place to park and work again. Just keep moving like that slowly until I was away from large cities and in the climate I wanted to live in. And, yes, that RV is for sure gonna break down or need tires! Omg! It's going to take her a while and probably a few more rip-offs before she can go any substantial distance. Really a good person though!
@@cherigoodwin5846 , I agree. An actual plan and working the plan! For so many, they have ADHD, or other mental and personality disorders that cause them to stumble and fall way behind their peers.
Thank you ma'am for speaking the truth. Some people are just bad and takers not givers. I have a pure trash sister in law like this. She is a taker and nothing is ever her fault. She keeps hanging around trying to get whatever she can for free and waiting for people to help her but can't get off her own backside to do much for herself.
There is something very special about this lady, she is very giving, caring and selfless.. A genuine soul with the ability to heal.. I wish you protection and safety, may you continue your journey with the light and love in your heart you have shown here 🙏❤️. Blessings to you x
He's not making excuses. He's talked to hundreds of homeless and was an adict himself. I'm sure he did things he wasn't proud of in the name of survival.
@@clover0048 He was trying to swing the conversation to gang members from homeless drug users. Go to Portland walk around a homeless population you'll be robbed or killed if you aren't open carrying a gun.

She was referring to gang members. Yes, there are bad people living homeless in the suburbs and even in Beverly Hills. There are both good and bad people in every socioeconomic level.
I currently am in an RV and living where I can park and everything she said about the maintenance of the RV to the people you deal with it was all exactly as I have seen it even the part of people breaking in. You can't leave the RV to go to work because you will come back to something missing and sometimes they don't even get inside to take things some old RVs or motorhomes have the batteries for the living area in a compartment on the outside and the thieves love taking batteries and it's very hard on us when they steal those or anything at that matter. I'm glad she found a good place that she feels safe.
I understand. I lost everything when my mother died, too. Primary caregiver . Floated for a couple years…but eventually made a good life back. You’ll get there.
@@laurajackson1264 while I gave up my life as I knew it, I never felt regret . Not ever. That said, we were also best friends & she’d always been there for me.
I’ve known Halema since the 90s.. when she was in a good place in life. I’m absolutely devastated at what has happened to her. She has a heart of gold… living out in a tent in Culver City? At 63!! No help no matter how many calls I’ve made! No case worker outreach! She needs housing stability in order to get out there and work. I don’t live in LA but if anyone out there can get her help and housing i would be so thankful. She really is a good person. Joanne
Yes, she is in line to be blessed with the millions of homeless Americans some think a government has no responsibility for. Opportunity, food and secure shelter might help a little more than a pat on the head from the one we hear planned it all will
This lady has a wonderful spirit. All her 3 wishes were about it being better for others, and our world. Unselfish. May God continue to watch over her.
I’m facing a chronic illness that could force me into homelessness. Living month to month. I work from home drafting but that is not consistent. Not sure if a RV is a answer because where can a person park and actually be safe, every place cost . Having to trust God Day by day.
She was smart with her money to buy an RV. I know so many people who got THOUSANDS dollars with their stimulus checks but gambled it all or spent it on drugs. It’s a sad world out there. Bless.

A lot of affordable mobile home parks in AZ & NV with jobs available. You can have a better safer life if you're willing to make a move. Best of luck! 🙏🙏🙏
That is her home for now. I myself live in my E150 Van and i love it because i pay No rent gas electric water bill or trash bill. You barely look after yourself and now throw in a dog.get real. It cost a lot to own a pet. But on the bright side people seem to reach out more to help a animal than a human.
Her strength is truly admirable. And she seems like a kindhearted person. I wish I had the means to donate some money. Prayers for her. ❤️. By the way, Is doubling the rent not illegal in the US?
Godbless you I hope you win the lottery I’m homeless too and stay in my car but I thank god that I have a full time job that’s the only thing that’s keeping me alive
The very people that steal from the homeless folks that live in RV's are criminal or drug addicted people THAT ACTUALLY LIVE IN A HOUSE OR APARTMENT THAT'S PAID FOR. The homeless don't truly rob or vandalize each other. They have respect for what belongs to others.
Shout out to Invisible People for completely changing my perception homeless people. I will never look at someone homeless the same. Thank you for doing this work. You are truly making an impact!
Not wisdom. Wise people don't make series of decisions that bring them to this point. It's her lack of wisdom that has brought her to these circumstances. 😪
Buy a small cargo van with Mike's Plumbing on the side. RVs of this size are not welcome anywhere. A work van can be stealth parked and not targeted. Even if you own a large RV for road trips you're relegated to expensive RV parks.
@ShakespeareCafe What is “Mike’s Plumbing on the side” for a small cargo van? Sincere question, as I’m looking into pursuing this lifestyle option for myself. Thank you.
Living in an RV means she is no longer homeless! She owns a house that happens to be on wheels. Congratulations to her!!! I went last year this time from 17 yrs of chronic homelessness to renting a huge 3 br 2bth house. I think she is doing better than I honestly because she Owns her space. That is my goal this year. I am Curran looking to get an RV for myself. I don't want to live in SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROPERTY anymore. I WANT MY OWN

I can really relate to her. The hardest thing to learn in life was not to trust the wrong people. Women are taught we should take care of others and that we’re not good people if we don’t. I do still believe that people are sick, not bad. However, if you’ve got goals and healthy interests like this lady, you won’t make it happen being around people who can’t see past today. If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else. If you’ve got a big heart and goals, keep to yourself and you could help the whole community, or even the whole world. I know women who have done it. Two opened social service agencies, and one changed the laws about violence against women at the UN conference. If you can survive on the streets you can go far, but you gotta go by yourself, THEN give back. I hope the RV works out and she has that life she deserves!

What a wonderful person. I wish her well. Yes, there are horrible people whom hurt people who actually try to help them. I, too, was in a moment in my life where users took from me even though I had assisted them. A person is by their works what they really are. I feel for good people who get shafted. May peace, safety and love follow her. Thank you for sharing this story.
The owner doubled the rent? Is it common in the USA?The owners double rents after each tenant? A great business!Still get it, without her mother's pension she couldn't afford that place. Losing job during pandemic is a tragedy for many hard working people and this may be a real cause of a new wave of homelessness. I can believe that this woman isn't an addict nor a person with mental problems like most homeless people before the "global issue".
Lived in low income housing (20+ years); it is a band aid for the real problem. Folks do not respect the neighborhood. They find ways to steal from their neighbors & bring trouble to everyone living there. People who do not live there believe it is a free for all; littering, urinating, burglarizing, busting your windows, generally trashing the place not to mention coming to curse you out. If there was a job & affordable rent, it might make a world of difference for those who sincerely want a home & better life. Others need life skills to live better. Others, professional help or jail.
I'm about to become homeless within 5 weeks due to losing my job because of "COVID" back in 2020 and suffering with mental health. I set up business for myself, and work from "home", but struggled with the pressures of day to day life and made some bad choices which left me unable to pay rent (wholly accept responsibility). Without a place to work, I doubt I will ever come back from homelessness. Just going to put a rucksack and tent on my back and see where the world takes me. I would rather die living at this point, than perish having not tried something.
Sorry this is happening to you. My worst fear in life is becoming homeless. Just please don't give up and I hope something happens that changes your life for the better. Wishing you the very best of luck.
I’m not sure what area you live in but try and reach out to whatever resources are available in your area. If you have family or friends, try reaching out to them too. If you need someone to talk to I’d be more than willing to listen. 😌
@@mtlchick30 I'm in the UK. I've reached out to the local council, but have no faith in them to act within the time I have left here. I like Mark, but he's NEVER fully honest about the homeless community. Whenever the person he interviews tells the truth about the homeless, particularly how most of them lie, cheat and steal, he'll immediately cut them off and say things like "oh, that happens in all communities" or "it's actually worse in other communities". These are blatant lies and he doesn't do anybody who is on the verge of being homeless any favors because they may take it as "well, I might as well just live with other homeless people if I do become homeless because I'm just as likely to be robbed, cheated or assaulted in other communities". This is an abhorrent lie and I think it's dangerous. This lady speaks the truth like many other people Mark has interviewed. She said they choose to live this way and choose to screw people over. These are just inconvenient facts when living amongst the drug addicted and mentally ill and Mark always tries to pretend it's not. Forgive me if I sound insensitive to the homeless, but I've been homeless, so I hope my opinion means something.
most homeless people are liars. i would be surprised if 50% of what this woman said is true because in reality, probably 99% of what she says here is a lie. they will lie about pretty much everything.
@@Hello-ig1px Anyone can lie or be liars!🙄 You're stereotyping homeless people just like so many people do in society when in reality your statement can be applied to anyone! To say most homeless people are liars is stupid because you don't know that to be true since you don't know all the homeless people in the world to prove that statement! I'm sure you have lied about something in your life, so don't be hypocritical of others just because they are homeless! Be humble and stop judging people you don't know. I had a dream recently I really want to share, I went to Jesus in prayer and he told me to share it! I was walking down the street and I noticed off my right there was a large Gathering of people standing up on this lawn, I slowly started to walk towards the large group and I thought to myself how strange to see such a large Warehouse in a subdivision and so many people on the outside of it. I was wondering what they were doing so I walked up there and made small talk and they were all in an absolute frantic state of mind and all moving very quickly, I said what was going on and nobody really answered, so I walked further up the walkway To 2 large double doors one that was standing open, there was a large amount of people in the warehouse , the noise was very unbelievable and everybody was trying to get everything ready as fast as they could, I saw one Old Gentleman standing off in the corner working feverishly and I asked him what is going on and he said " Jesus will be here any moment" , we are trying to get things ready before he comes! End of dream!....Get ready, Stay in repentance, Read your Bible daily, God bless you all...
I hate that there are good people that end up homeless. Most of us are one paycheck away from this. But what she did was a great investment. She could always sell it later if need be.
She has the gift of discernment, albeit hard earned from the travels she's had. Thank you for the share and caring to interview her. Lord watch over you. ~Love Alaska (btw come, there's room with less human nonsense like that)
I think it's more cognitive dissonance than discernment. She talks a good talk, but her actions don't match up. It's living in constant craziness. Notice she blames everyone else and society. ***Solution: She must move to a cheaper state, rural environment, get a job at a poultry processing plant, develope friendships with neighbors, and build up a some savings. Then, become a shift supervisor and buy a little house. This is how my neighbors have survived.
Agreed. It's a steep learning curve. A lot of people think they can fix things themselves and end up with a pile of parts and a rig they can't drive. Even when you are good with mechanical, the parts and specialty tools are too expensive for most unemployed/underemployed folks. I still remember the time my sewer hose exploded.....
I used to sell them. Very few people ( including contractors ) have the knowledge to do repairs without causing more damage. And RV parts are specific, they’re aren’t easy to come by & are more expensive than need to be. My advice is to be gentle & move them as little as possible, making sure it’s level at all times. Don’t ever make any opening any bigger. Don’t make new openings & don’t remove any walls. And if you’re ever fortunate enough to find a permanent location, build an awning over it.
There's this RU-vidr who is really amazing at rebuilding rvs and vans, his channel is DualEx and I watch him and he's so good at revamping rvs and vans as well as fixing problems with them and he'll sometimes flip them and sell them. I learned so much by watching his different builds and remodels of rvs and vans that if I bought one I could fix things on it or at least have knowledge of how to know when something is wrong.😏 I would like to buy a small new one for traveling one day.Check him out.
It’s Ruff out here!!! She seems to be so straightforward......and she extremely pretty outside, and inside,,,God bless, i hope and pray things work out!
Thank you. I donated. I was homeless for three years, 35 years ago. Your outlook reminds me of mine; find the blessings and lessons and be pragmatic in your approach to your situation. The biggest difference between our situations I think is that 35 years ago there weren’t instant credit checks. 35 years ago an apartment could be rented by filling out an application and asking the landlord to trust your character.
