You are awesome, I am one-handed stroke survivor . I find this method much easier to do. Thank you for showing this method, I was able to do it right away - easy and simple. I hardly subscribe to any uTube channel but I did to yours because it is that simple and easy to follow.
Cranberries just went ON SALE here. I'm really surprised they are already marking the price down. Regular price is $2+ per bag and they are on sale for $1.50 a bag. I got 10 bags! Can't wait to try this. I think I will like this method better than other methods because I will not have to strain the berries out later PLUS with the juice being more concentrated, the jars will not take up as much space in my cabinets. I'm running out of room so whatever space I can is a definite plus. Thanks Toni for posting this!
I learned so much from thid wonderful video Im a young mom & 1st gen homesteader since my parents & grandparents stopped the tradition. and i need these survival skills so thank u so much!
Looks great!! Thanks Toni, I want to try this for a friend who needs to be drinking no sugar cranberry juice. Hopefully I will be able to find cranberries soon.
Thanksgiving is on October 9 in Canada... so the stores are full of all the possible Thanksgiving day feast items NOW...Including cranberries, turkeys apples pumpkins.
Wow, you did such an awesome job. It’s a lot of work, but nice to see all the juice you got from your berries. I did chokecherries like this a couple of years ago when there was a huge amount on the trees that year. This past summer there was hardly any, so I couldn’t get more. Subscribed and looking forward for more of your videos.🥰
I made some today. I used 8-12oz pks. I got 22 pints out of them. I used 2 of the spider labels. One is smaller than the other, so it made for easy pressing the berries. The pulp I had left after squeezing all the juice is in my dehydrator, and I will make powder out of it.
Sometimes I'm surprised how much we thing alike. When you were straining the first batch, I said to my husband, "isn't that beautiful, I bet it would be good mixed with ginger ale". Must be our generational connection. My better half said, "or sprite" 😁
I got a lot of inspiration out of this video! I think I might like to whizz-up the cranberries with a hand blender tho, or in the food processor, then simmer it all before straining out the solids... I think we could get more juice / or a more concentrated juice that way
I really like the way you took the time to show how you processed the cranberry into juice. Even more interested with the stainless steel measuring cup you used to transfer the juice into the jar. Would you mind sharing where it can be purchased.
Since this is a concentrate do you add water after opening or do you just drink it as is? If diluted what is the ratio preferred? Thank you in advance.
ah yes, it's a one gallon size with a very wide opening, unfortunately I never got the lid for it...it came from my mother, I truly can't remember why she gave it to me or where she got it from...but I do find uses for it all the time.
I am planning on doing this too. Went to buy some last Friday and they were all gone. Last time I went to buy some pure cranberry juice it was hard to find and very expensive.
Hi, I am pretty new to canning and I have only pressure canned so far. Will you please tell me if this is shelf stable and if so, the approximate shelf life? Thanks 😊
don't know but worth a try with a small batch, I suspect you will have better results with the blueberries and blackberries, not so much with the strawberries!
I never tried but I bet you can...Cranberries are loaded with natural pectin and the first thing I would try is just to boil and reduce one of these quart jars until it jells and that would likely work...I suspect that you would want to add sugar though. If that doesn't work or you want a larger quantity then you can purchase a box of pectin and follow the instructions.
I made some with some cranberry sauce, not the jelly kind, but the real sauce, some water, and a napkin to filter it. I sweetened it with a little bit of maple syrup. First I took the sauce out of the dish it was in, and put it in a water bottle, half full of water, and then I closed the lid and shook it. After that, I grabbed a napkin, a rubber band, and a cup. I slowly poured the liquid into the cup, and let the napkin filter it changing the napkin a few times as well. Then I got a little hot water, and mixed in a 7 second long squeeze of syrup and mixed it until they were combined. Then I stirred it into the juice, and enjoyed it. What do you guys think? Give it a try.
fresh cranberries are only available here during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays..you should find them in your grocery stores during this time.
No you can just pour boiling water over them in a jar, seal and water bath can..but then you have berries to deal with too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1IPRYebdvVU.html
I am going to do this as soon as we get cranberries, I think I will get a bottle of welchs no sugar added grape juice to mix with it when I drink it, to sweeten I love crangrape 😂 thanks God bless
@@HerHomesteadSkills I got them really cheap last year, at Costco, too. Last year, I just happened on them but this year I specifically looked for them. Both times, right after Thanksgiving! I’m going to look again after the American Thanksgiving and again after Christmas. I live near a business Center but have to travel a bit to get to a regular outlet. My juice is made. It didn’t all fit in the canner but I didn’t have enough to run another batch so I froze the extra into large ice cubes. They will nicely flavour ginger ale!
I tried this the way you did it but, I found it not concentrated enough for my liking. I think I will not do the second cooking with the three quarts of water. I think using less water will work better for me.
Words, cranberries and no sugar really caught my eye? 5 bags cranberries, 3 qt water in each pot? I wonder about adding 1 peeled apple to each pot, not striving for clear liquid but natural sugar. 10 min water bath .
I absolutely LOVE cranberry juice, well, at least the cranberry grape, & cranberry cherry. We have 12.54 acres down here in Southeastern Oklahoma. Once we actually get onto our property, I will definitely be planting cranberry bushes. I will definitely be making homemade cranberry juices. We also have a RU-vid channel. Please check it out. We're just getting it back off from the ground after moving down here from Michigan.
Hi @faithfirstfarmhomestead3386 I checked out your channel, and wish you all the success in the world, both with the channel and your new property..they are likely both going to be tons of work, but if you are up for it, and persevere you will do great!
@@HerHomesteadSkills Thank you very much! 😊 Yes, it's definitely going to be tons of work, but I'm excited to get started. I'll be posting plenty of videos of our progress. Thank you for checking it out, and for the encouraging words. ❤
3min 30sec in and I'm convinced she has not turned the heat on. How much drivel can one person produce? So I'm off to find someone who can make concentrated cranberry juice.
I can't believe you did all that work for such a small difference. I bet you never do it this way again. Such a mess to clean up too. I also love eating the berries that are in my 'easily canned' juice as well and would miss that. I add a bit of lemon juice and or orange juice with a dash of salt to bring out the flavor. I water bath for 25 minutes by choice because I am starting with raw berries. I think it brings out more of the flavor and gets a really deep color. Even after just a few days I am enjoying the juice and berries. I add a 1/4 cup of sugar to a quart. Each 12 ounce bag of berries you buy at the store will make 2 quarts. In an afternoon I put up 28 quarts.
