She absolutely does have a background. She is discounting her grandmother and mother.. in other words, she DOES have a background, just not one she had to pay for or with a fancy school name attached. Its frustrating how modern society discounts home education. This young woman (the one in the video) is going to school in order to get that "preferred background", and relearn part of what she figured out on her own. I guess she thinks she can also play up her skills, but she did it very badly.
Ida L I'm pretty positive they're referring to the description in which it says "without any previous sewing experience", not to what she said in the video. Nonetheless, learning a craft from your family instead of teachers doesn't mean there's no background. You can't sew a dress like that with no previous experience OR background in sewing, trust me.
It's the combination of engineering and artistic design that makes it so fascinating to me. I like to sew, but I really don't think of myself as 'artistic'; for myself, it is the engineering part that brings me the most pleasure.
Simply an artpiece.The conception of the outfit is wonderful. I define art as looking at a created piece and it speaks to the viewer's soul enriching his thoughts. When you twirl from a "conformist" ballgown into a "nonconformist" free flying monarch butterfly is inspirational.
So perfect! If I ever get married I want to make something like this that transforms into a wedding gown to surprise everyone. Lol I know it sounds silly and cheesy but I would love that so much. Yours is very beautiful!

But made for effie because she wears the butterfly outfit for the quarter quell. At least in the movies, it doesn't really say what she wears in the books besides an orange wig. (I think...)
