I’ve just found this channel, and I’m shocked it hasn’t got more recognition. He’s like the crazy uncle that teaches you everything about electricity. This is on par with creators like ElectroBoom, keep it up!

To bad he doesnt upload anymore. Ive had a road block in my learning process for a while and a single video of his gave me that eureka moment and I nearly shit myself. Hope hes doing all right.

Great informative video. Thank you for the detailed explanation as well, especially on how to use a power source, with the current-limiting enabled etc... Keep this great work up.

I already knew the basics but I loved watching you play with it and appreciate how you explained the magnetic loss in the squared hollow core. This may be ill advised, but I've got a crappy laptop that's not worth its weight in shit and I want to build an electromagnet to zero out/format the hdd. I know it can be done via software but I just want to do it this way. My gf's dad was an electrical engineer and his workshop is now an overcrowded basement (now my basement), but I'm sure he has a function generator and oscilloscope down there somewhere (just for detailed tweaks, I'll probably be using batteries to power it). Also, once I have it built I want to build a circuit to vary the field that's controlled by the volume of an audio input and see how I can make my ferrofluids dance with it.

You sir are the best RU-vid channel ever even if it’s not well known yet .. I understand from you because you are very straight forward into topic please keep such good videos coming and don’t ever change the way of how this videos work as the channel grows in the future

You’re pretty good at explaining these simple electrical processes.. If someone told me that you’re a teacher or professor, I’d believe it homeboy!! Now crank up “Juicy” by Biggy and get to rapping!

You can also burn off the lacquer or scrub it with a sharp knife ect. To Winde the coils you can also use a drill attached to a rod ect. A coil gun works similar.

How can a magnet keep a magnetic field for a real long time and a solenoid just keeps the field only when energized.

Could you guide me how to build up lap solenoid 2 tesla for doing an experiment I need it to rolling up a tube with 3 cm diameter and 15 cm length ?

can you make asolenoid using an iron tube? I find the rod doesnt want to pull in well. I sticks on the sides of the tube. Always copper or thick plastic as a tube?

sir if same number of turn with thick wire(30 swg to 22swg) and other things same, what happen, magnetic power increase or noting change?

So I don't have a lab power supply just yet, can I use like a 8v 3amp dc converter that goes into 220vac from a device? If so how every time I've tried it just works for space second and stops working until the electromagnet is disconnected?

Hey, I've been watching you, and I would like to make my own coil for magnetic particle testing. It would be a loop big enough to say pass an engine crankshaft through, or a connecting rod, that type of thing. I have a very large and long old welder lead. The thing is, I don't know the winding size, how many I would need, etc and then passing the current through it. Don't know the math behind it or what kind of transformer I would need to power it. Any ideas?

Hello, Electrical King. Can a solenoid inductor magnet thing be "run/connected" to a battery without it overheating? What could be put in place to drop the resistance? Thanks!

Hi, If you had put a peice of square section iron inside your square section electro magnet, I think you would have a decent solenoid ! Thanks for the video

Hi, I want to build a solenoid to pull objects from a distance. Could you do a video going through the math involved in designing a solenoid to pull a certain mass at a certain distance, taking the permittivity of the core and medium between the solenoid and pulled object to account? I know I'm asking a lot, but I'd really appreciate it. 😅

WOULD using Lutz wire increase the strength of the solenoid ???
@t1d100
@t1d100 3 года назад
If the builder uses a metal rod that is small enough to clamp in the chuck of a drill, the wire can be spun onto the rod, by turning the drill motor on. Go slow, be careful and wear personal protective gear = gloves, protective glasses, etc... The free end of the wire that is attached to the rod will spin. It could cut you, or hit your eye. So, secure the wire's free end with tape. I assume no liability, if you try this method.

What keeps a coil like this from being a short circuit? In other words, what do I have to do to keep it from short circuiting- is it just the length or the number of coils I use? Or is it the thickness of the wire? I hope my question make sense.
@Genkenx
@Genkenx 2 года назад
It actually is /sort of/ a short circuit. The length of the wire creates the resistance that dictates how much current is drawn (for a given voltage). So let's say you have 100ft of wire that measures 1ohm of resistance end to end. Since ohms law is voltage / resistance (ohms) = power (in amps), if you put a 12v power supply to your wire, it will draw 12amps of electricity, which is enough to probably melt the wire at that gauge. The coil he made has such low resistance, that at only 1 volt, he's already drawing about 1.5amps, which is enough to pick up the nail, but not enough to melt the wire of the coil. To answer your question, to avoid the negatives of a "short circuit" (sparks, wires melting, fire, etc), you need to reduce the voltage low enough to match the resistance of your wire coil- match meaning "the amount of current you want it to draw"

Great video just have 3 questions 1. What Gauge is the wire ? 2. How many turns/rounds did the wire do around the nail? 2. Is it possible to make a U solenoid?

Is there a difference between a DC solenoid and an AC solenoid? Or do they perform the same, just different voltage input?

I would like to know the optimal way of winding a core. Back and forth? Only one direction?
@simplyput2796
@simplyput2796 4 года назад
There's not just one optimal way because they each have effects beneficial for different purposes. Do an Internet search for "transformer core winding types" and you'll get an idea.
