I recommend mixing on a glass surface or on a 12" plain white porcelain tile from the hardware store with your palette knife, then transferring it to the container. It's just so much easier to check color and texture and not get those areas of white on the side. It also makes adding the pigment powder a lot less messy because you can make a well and fold toward the middle. I personally only mix in the pigment powder into the medium, and I put the glitter on top of the paste after I add it to my project. I find the glitter sometimes loses its sparkle when mixed into the paste because even a clear medium makes it harder for the light to reflect/refract. But that's probably just personal preference.

Love the glitter paste idea, I believe it is the first time I have seen a color added to it. Glad I seen this before I made some. Your card's are absolutely beautiful. Thank you.

Thank you! I know this was posted 2 yrs ago, but I had a thought, how about putting the glitter & PearlX in first to avoid it flying around. Maybe that would work?

While I was in Hobby Lobby looking for the Liquitex to try this, I spotted a product by Master’s Touch that is basically the same thing, but was the finished product with the glitter! It was $8.99 for 4 Oz, came in several colors, and was even half price! $4.50 for 4 Oz.! It doesn’t contain the mica, but you could certainly add your own.

Could you add alcohol inks or liquid ink for the color. Instead of the mica powers? Thanks for sharing this great idea.

I know it's been two years.... I've used water-based fountain pen ink and dye-based calligraphy ink successfully for texture pastes, but alcohol ink gives a weird separation effect, almost like a crackle finish. It's not bad, you may like the effect, it just doesn't "match" the usual shimmer and glitter texture pastes.

Wowzers!! I just can't believe how fast you did all these cards in just 40 something minutes. This is also my first time watching Monkey's Paper Palooza Vid's. Excellent presentation, and I also agree that your info was so informative, and your tips n techniques are terrific!! I love that you don't ramble on and you stay on topic. That frustrates me sometimes. (Just sayin). Your links are so easy to find what one needs. And you include everything you've used. Even the pallette knives. Awesome. May I please just say a little critique? And no, it's not bad. I have badd eyesight, and I'm pretty much kissing my screen. lol. So i wish you could hold up the finished card just for a few more moments, and maybe closer to your camera. They are so Gorgeous I really like to see the finished product. Ps - Your imagination is great. The way you plcae and arrange the embelishments, but give your hints as well.... it's grand! Thank you. Very much appreciated!!

What is pearl ex? Perfect pearls?
@MonkeysPaperPalooza
@MonkeysPaperPalooza 5 лет назад
It is a pearl pigment powder and comes in a rainbow of colors. They are available at most retail craft and art stores!

PearlEx is dry mica (shimmery) powder that you can rub on things or add to various media for both color and shine. Perfect Pearls is a liquid product made with mica that you drop onto your projects to make a dimensional element, often a dot, similar to using a resin dot embellishment or flatback pearl. Some people use it to imitate stained glass. I prefer Just Resin micas over PearlEx, I think the color selection and prices are better. I also prefer Nuvo drops to Perfect Peals because I feel Nuvo drops maintain a rounded shape better and don't flatten out as they dry.

Your cards are great, but using copy paper instead of card stock cheapens the card when you can see through the paper, using card stock doesn’t make it to heavy or anything since the fronts are already doubled up and sometimes tripled, using card stock on the inside goes a long way when you’ve taken your time to make these cards, you might as well go that extra step and toss out that copy paper, imho.

Thanks for sharing, I usually only use when using black card forms! Other than that I just stamp in the card form itself.
