Thank you for making this into a 4 minute video, there are like 50, 20-30 minute videos out there of people who won’t stop talking about themselves and I honestly just want to make the Jam, even when I look for text based ones it’s like someone is writing a biography of their personal lives and how they grew up on a farm or how they do this and it feeds their kids for months, way to much fluff for something you managed to pull off in 4 minutes. Your video is right to the point and I thank you for it.
These people who kept saying "that's way too sweet" or "there's too much sugar" CLEARLY never made jams before. You know those jams that you've been buying from the supermarket? It contains a LOT more sugar than this recipe. In fact, most traditional jam recipes contain more sugar. If you're all health conscious and stuff, then don't eat jam/jelly. Simple as that. Stick to fruits.
@souls potat this comment is from one year ago. The new comments are better now, but when I comment on this video in the first place, it's all the "it's too sweet" comment. I mean, I don't get it. Why don't you just make your own reduced sugar video? 🤔 You can always add more pectin and reduce the sugar. Why watch this vid just to complain about it?
I’ve been fighting with wasps that are sucking my grapes dry. I decided to cut all of them a little early so the wasps wouldn’t get them all. Some were sweet with a little sour to them. I was trying to eat so many grapes. Thought about making wine, or juice but seen your video first and that’s what I’m doing now. Making some jam 😋
Other than at the very end a splotch of jam stuck to my rim finger and it’s still burning after 25 minutes, it is an easy jam recipe. Thank you! Now tomorrow, Sunday 19/07/2020, after soccer game my 3 little grandsons will go home to pancakes with your grape jam. Warms my 💓
I have just made this jam. I am speechless. I mean it is really out of this world. I have never eaten a jam so tasty. Excellent recipe. Thank you very much. I am going to send these jars to all my neighbours and friends.
I tripled this recipe using 12 cups of grapes, 2 cups of sugar and 3 Tbsp lemon juice. The bag just said table grapes and they were reddish. Full of water so I had to cook for 77 minutes, stirring constantly and it was reduced in volume 4/5 before it wouldn’t slide off the frozen plate. It is delicious but not low sugar since I only got 8 (4 oz) jars. Still it is no pectin and will make again. Processed in boiling water bath 10 minutes so it will keep unrefrigerated. I processed some orange jelly and the recipe was 10 minutes in boiling water bath.
Thanks for the recipe!!!!! I just done my very 1st homemade jam.. But I use grape cos I only have grape... Taste good but the texture quite watery.. Hopefully by tomorrow after in the fridge it will be thicker...
Thanks because i have grapes with seeds and they taste bad so i was trying to make things with them so they will taste better (i dont like grapes with seeds thats why there bad, there nothing wrong with them)
Amazing recipe! I always forget how to make jams, and I’ve been wondering if it’s fine to just blitz it all in the blender. Well, seems this answers my question! Will be using green grapes and other leftover fruits like cherry. I like that it’s 1:4 parts sugar to fruit, since I typically don’t like too much sweetness.
I made this just now today, and so easy and it tastes delicious!😊🥰😎 Just the right amount of fruit to sugar ratio and also the right tart to sweet it's awesome. 🥰💕🤗
i've been on a bender this last few months making jams, they are so easy and great for breakfast. my recipe is basically the same, but i like to put a bit of honey in place of some of the sugar. dunno how much diference it makes, but i feel like it helps to add an extra taste to them that makes it better.
What's your thought on using artificial sweetener such a Splenda a lot of people like doing that stuff but there are diabetic or have problems with sugar and personally I prefer the non-sweet my mother's diabetic I've just gotten used to it but she does a lot of canning as well she's been making apple butter and now we're working on pomegranate but we use Splenda and Pickton in the way she does hers and I just have thoughts on yours because Hearts don't need refrigerating after she's done
I agree with you. Added sugar contains NO essential nutrients and contributes to all sorts of diseases. That's why my jam recipe is quite low-sugar compared to traditional recipes. I do not consider myself a pro but making jams without sugar will not gel the same unless the amount of pectin in the fruit is high or unless you use no-sugar pectins (gelling agent). Please correct me if I'm wrong... Unfortunately sugar is a powerful preservative. Jam/jelly with higher amounts of sugar hold their quality and last longer. Small jam batches lend themselves to more rapid water evaporation and I think in this case you can use artificial sweetener or reduce drastically the sugar amount but you may need to cook the jam longer so that the proper concentration can be reached. I will test a strawberry jam next time using Splenda :).
May I ask why you did not use pectin ? That would reduce the boiling time and make the jam less runny , also reducing the amount of sugar . Also you did not do a water bath so how can be preserved safely ? Thanks
I mean woah some people might only need it for two weeks which in the refrigerator like that I’m sure it’ll last a long time if you wanna have it in a cool storage for a while that is different. Also the lemon brings out the natural pectin i prefer not using and letting the fruit sugars and sugar do its thing taste better to me but if that’s what you prefer 🤙🏼
@@antoniotorres8710whoa, gee, come on now. This recipe is bad.. she didn't remove seeds. And yes even seedless has seeds. 2 it should say or give more information as it's unsafe to do it without water bath canning.. Go.lecture others. As even 2 weeks is unsafe...
Looking back at this video, I still think this was an awesome, easy, and well done tutorial. However I would use cane or beet sugar for health reasons.
Eat the seeds. They're fine and softened. I make mine from Cabernet Sauvignon. She ruined it by adding sugar. Use some pectin. Why do people need sugar in everything? It overpowers all the flavor.
Thank you, very good and easy to follow recipe. I am in the UK an do not have a canner so wonder if there's another way to preserve this, ie in boiling water or steam. Any suggestions and guides would be really appreciated as I would like to try making this at home. Regards
I'm not an expert but I want to share my method! If you have a glass jar then you can sterilize it by pouring boiling water into it wash it completely with hot water and set aside to dry up. Or you can put it in the microwave and heat it. Use the jar when it's completely dry not even a drop of water should be inside. Fill it with hot jam and put the lid tightly then you can preserve it for months in the fridge. I made one mistake once by taking out the jar for too long till it was at room temperature so better put it back in fridge quickly after you use the jam. (Pardon my English!)
How did it turn out? I just bought some black grapes and wanting to make sugar free jam, if its possible. How long did it take to come to the right consistency and is it shelf stable to be steam canned?
@@jdm3111 it came out very good. I boiled my own down to a thick consistency. It really don’t need sugar unless that’s what you like. I used black grapes also. It did not take long as I did not have much jam. Mines is still holding good after a week

FYI most jams use MUCH more sugar than a cup (talking 4-5 cups), you can definitely reduce it and use half a cup but it'll be more sour and the consistency might be different
