Welcome back! Today, I’m going to show you how to make delicious homemade Greek yogurt. It's simple, creamy, and perfect for breakfast, snacks, or even cooking. Let's get started!
Ingredients:
4 cups (1 liter) whole milk (or any milk of your choice)
2 tablespoons plain yogurt (as a starter culture)
Equipment:
Saucepan
Thermometer
Cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer
Bowl
Instructions:
1. Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat it over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent it from scorching. Heat until the milk reaches about (83°C).
2. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the milk cool to about (45°C).
3. Once the milk has cooled, take about 1/2 cup of the warm milk and mix it with the 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt. Stir the mixture with the cooled milk and well.
4. Cover it and keep it in a warm place for 6-12 hours. You can use an oven with the light on or wrap the container in towels to keep it warm. The longer it sits, the thicker it becomes.
5. After incubation, use a colander with cheesecloth and set it over a bowl. Pour the yogurt and let it drain for 12 to 24 hours in the fridge.
6. Once the yogurt has reached your desired thickness, transfer it to a container and refrigerate it. It can be stored for up to a week.
Enjoy your homemade Greek yogurt with fruit, honey, or use it in recipes!
