Wow! This is wonderful. I've been unhappy with how expensive laundry detergent has become. For no good reason! The companies who make soap spend faaaaar more on advertising than they do on the actual making of product. 😡 Now I'll thumb my nose at the laundry soap aisle! Huge THANK YOU! 💞 5:28

Going to try this next. I’ve used powdered home made for 2 years. God bless.

Jaci, I'm sorry I've been inactive for a while due to life's circumstances, but did you try it? And how did you like it?

Thank you SO much for this video. You explained everything so very well. I've been searching similar videos to find out why my soap doesn't suds up. Now, I know it's not supposed to! You're the only one who explained this. Thanks again!

I am so glad this was helpful to you Rose! We had the same concerns when we first began making our laundry soap. I'm fortunate enough, though, to have my mom and other's who share their wisdom on these things! Thank you for watching, liking and subscribing!

Home depot has several paint mixers that you put on a dril. I bought the red one and it is so nice.

Yes! A paint mixer would be fantastic! I will put it on my "honey please" list!

You use two water softeners, but don’t need to for that amount of soap. Diluted that much, your brew will work as well as plain water. Soften water before dissolving soap in it. Water softeners are sitting nearby! How do you deal with soap scum building up over time? Will surely happen if you rinse with untreated hard water. This isn’t a detergent. The only surfactant is bar soap.

If you used 1 cup per load, 5 gal would be enough for 80 loads. 5 oz of soap/80 loads = 0.0625 oz/load, between the weight of a paper clip (0.049 oz) and a penny (0.08 oz). Laundry soap are about 15% surfactants. This one is

I tried this last night & was wondering why it has like a film like soap scum is that going to ruin my washer? Or should I dilute it some more?

I've been making this soap since 2012 and have never had any issues. Now all of a sudden the soap isn't gel like at all. It is watery and it used to also be a yellow-ish color. The past two times making it it came out a pearly, white-ish clear and it drips, like as if, it was just straight water. I haven't changed any of my recipe, or how I make it. Anybody have any ideas? Did Fels Naptha change their bar soap???? BAFFLED HERE!!!

I have not had any problems. I will say though that I still have Fels Naptha bars from about a year ago. I had stocked up. But, I will buy a fresh bar, and give it a try in my next batch. I'll let you know how it comes out!

@@thesmilinglime1447 thank you. I managed to fumble thru it somehow. Last time I had white pieces speckled in it. This time, on 2nd day mixing, it produced white clumps at the bottom of the bucket. I mixed, then took about a fourth out & put that into the other bucket. Then I mixed like crazy again (power drill & paint mixer attachment). I poured the fourth back in & mixed again. Then divided 50/50 between the buckets & this time added BOILING HOT water, mixed & let sit all day. It thickened up perfect, but still was a pearly white-ish/clear it used to be yellow. I can't think of anything else other than we got a new hot water heater. Our water has always been hotter...till the new hot water heater. So when I found the clumps on bottom I figure it was the borax &/or washing soda separated due to the lack of super hot water. I've always just used my kitchen sprayer & drill with paint mixer attachment.... When I used the boiling water & it came out right... deductive reasoning told me that it had to be the lack of sufficient hot water.

@@Daizey57 Yes! I'm so glad you figured out the problem! I always boil the water, because our hot water heater is set to medium, so I hadn't experienced this problem. Thank you for letting us know!!
