Nice to hear from you again Vinnie. Thanks for the video. I like making things myself. Fifty years ago I watched my dad wrapping line around feathers on a hook in a vice, was a pleasant memory to see that again. I guess it sounds odd but thanks for that as well.

I was happy when I saw the Vice. I haven't bought one of the "normal" vices because I don't tie that many. I use to small pieces of metal to grab the hook to bring it out further.

Great tips Vinnie! ... No brute force & ignorance needed here. (darn! lol) having some old Christmas tree tinsel stuffed away in an old box somewhere, I may just give the tinsel tasers a go! Granted, I have all winter to get it right. I'll have to use super glue to secure it, since unlike some other guys I know, don't have fingernail polish😚😂 Great video my friend! They definitely attract fish... Hope those little fellas out there grow up big & strong so you can catch them in the future!!! 🙏✌️

Another first class video vinnie. The lures worked lovely I really like these videos you film from the kayak I find them so interesting and relaxing to watch some beautiful shots of the coast it really is a stunning place you live I must make the time to visit Ireland it's a special place. Well vinnie you take care till next time. 👍👍👍. Oh by the way that's a very impressive collection of nail varnish you have there my friend makes me quite envious. LOL.👍👍👍.

Nothing nicer to me than fresh caught mackerel, I am not much of a fish eater but mackerel is good. I am a terrible fisherman but find the gear interesting, particularly the knots. The dry cat food I buy comes in tough foil bags with dark printing on one side and bright silver on the inside, I imagine that would be usable for lures. I was looking at a Tempo the other day in Decathlon sports, less than €500, time to start saving to have one for next Spring.
@vinniesdayoff3968
@vinniesdayoff3968 3 года назад
I couldn't eat mackerel before Chris because I used to eat it with the skin on. It's a completely different fish without the skin. 500 Euro is a great price for that Tempo. I just looked it up and it's 895 Euro here. I reckon the cat food bag would work admirably

Looks like they worked well. Interesting tip with the figure eight. Using more than one hook is illegal here, unless it is a trap line and then you need a trapping license. Usually they use some baits with the hooks.
@vinniesdayoff3968
@vinniesdayoff3968 3 года назад
Does that rule apply to the sea too Hauki?
@hauki9286
@hauki9286 3 года назад
@@vinniesdayoff3968 There is some exceptions, like you can fish herrrings with many hooks, i'm not sure about the sea. I would quess it applies.

Totally get your sentiments on catching those small fish... in my old age I've begun to feel much worse about intentionally catching a fish that I know I will let go, than I do about shooting a deer that I know I will eat.
@vinniesdayoff3968
@vinniesdayoff3968 7 месяцев назад
Catch and quickly kill what you need to eat, The smaller fish are more susceptible to damage from a hook than a large fish imho

Fresh mackerel takes some beating. Last time you took us fishing you used a homemade hand line Vinnie, I made one after seeing that and have had one in my car ever since, just in case like! Do you favour the rod in the kayak?
@vinniesdayoff3968
@vinniesdayoff3968 3 года назад
I'm a kayaker that fishes rather than a kayak fisherman if that makes sense Jim. I will often just throw a handline in the pocket just so I can catch something if there are fish about. I like the rod too and I often use a single spinner rather than feathers with the rod. But to answer your question about a seven foot or so rod works very well on the kayak
@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006
@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 3 года назад
That makes sense mate. And I can imagine a handline getting old pretty quick with a spinner on the end of it.
@WildWillieWarfield
@WildWillieWarfield 3 года назад
@@vinniesdayoff3968 that's a good tip about the rod Vinnie, have you ever tried fly casting on the kayak? I've wanted a fishing kayak for years and I got one for Christmas, so I'm really looking forward to the vaccine taking effect and getting out on the water this summer
