Homemade oak bathroom sink

Made this rustic wood sink from an oak tree.
I'm not a professional woodworker so some of the methods in this video may not be the best way - but I'm happy with the results.
The sink has been in use for 3 months with no issues. I might put another coat of Tung Oil in a few months then maybe once a year after that.

Great video and job on the sink. So all you used to seal the wood was danish oil, also how did you make the recess for the drain? Was it with a router? Thanks

I used a forstner bit for the recess. Should have done that first then drilled through after but it turned out ok. Just Danish oil and I've only re-oiled it once. Holding up very well.

Wow it’s beautiful how long should you wait after putting the danish oil on to wait to use the sink?

Not sure how long you are actually supposed to wait. I stained it then went on a 2 week vacation so it had plenty of time to dry. Sink gets used everyday and still looks new. Holding up very well.

One question - so the oak and teak wood can resist water easily?

I'm no wood expert but I do know I've oiled this is sink 3 times in a year and a half and it looks the same as day one. It has to be the oil protecting it.

How long You let dry after cutting slab?

The tree laid there for about 10 years so it was pretty dry but I let the slab set in my house for about 3 months before shaping

Screwed it from the bottom up into the sink. Along with silicone. It still looks the same as the day I installed it.

Beautiful work! I love the idea of bringing nature into the home. You did a really great job! (sink and video) JESUS SAVES!!
